Great looking original 19th century folk art dulcimer from about 1850-70. 33" x 7" x 3 1/2" Hand made from red walnut with early square nail construction. Wonderful old crusty surfaces. Carved chestnut peg. With a part of another. Not sure what the white inset string supports are made of- they appear to be hand made, but might be later replacements. Dating is based on the type of nails used, the associated age shrinkage cracking around the nail heads and the crusty patina(most noticable on the bridge) Discovered in central Missouri. Antique Scottish Folk Art miniature chest of drawers box circa 1860
A box. Made to look like a Scottish full sized chest of drawers, with columns down the front. The kind of chest of drawers that used to be called a"Scotch chest" The drawers don't open. The top lifts up to reveal a plain box. Very much a one off. Made perhaps as a present and very much in the Folk Art tradition. Each part is homemade- you can see the whittle marks on the feet and even the handles have been made for this piece. Brass hinges and lock plate were bought. The rest is all individual. Approximately 27cm x 21.6cm across the top. Height- 24cm. A pleasing size. Condtion- It has at some point had a bad bash to the base. Which has knocked one of the feet off and it has been glued on again. It is old, old glue and could be done again much better with modern glues and not show. At the same time, you can see in the photo, ... morea crack appeared in the base at the back. The sides have been decorated with a shaped overlay. On one side three pieces are missing, on the other two. I would say this could easily be fixed without too much trouble and also could be ignored quite easily! The hinge works well and closes and opens and the front, the decorative part has all its knobs and drawers etc. The starting price reflects the damage and it is still a really fun thing. An antique miniature chest with wonderful dovetail joints. Footed. It sits on 4 legs. 19 th Century. There is paint on the bottom. Original paint. Lovely warm patina. There are hints of green paint on the outside. This is a beautiful primitive. I measure just over 17 ¼ inches tall by about 26 ¾ inches wide by just under 14 inches deep. A hard to find size. Weighs about 24 pounds. It looks like both hinges have been moved a time or two. There is an inlay patch on the lid near the keyhole. The key hole is quite worn. I’m not sure of the type of wood. The lock is off. There is part of the lock loose on the inside. The box inside may be called a keeper or keepsake or candle box. Here is a true barn find. Right from a new england farm, super neat design on the front. Chest appears to have original hinges and side handles. There is paper/ travel stamps with early 1900 dates on them. I'm guessing its at least from early 1900s but possibly earlier, has metal overlay on top and on the corners with unique art design on the front. Inside is wood with paper lining. Chest is apprx. 24" long 18" wide and 16" high. A very unique chest, a good size, not too big, make a great accent piece.

As you know Chicago was the center of Industry in the 1800's so it may have come from an old factory or on one of the many ships that came in from Lake Michigan. 19th C OLD BLUE GREEN PAINT ORIGINAL BLANKET TOOL CHEST FOLK ART HEX PINWHEELS
offered from my own personal collection is this exceptional diminutive sized or miniature 19th century primitive blanket chest. the original paint on this is the early slate or soldier blue that over a hundred or two years oxidizes to hues of sage green on its outside giving it outstanding paint depth. this early paint is very rare to find on a primitive and ive allways had an affection for such pieces and its impossible to duplicate in any way. so in other words. This chest is a deep blue paint however to the natural aging it appears to have blueish sage green tints in some light. the inside camera flash makes it more greenish than it is, while the outside pictures show more its real color. the other unique highlight of this chest is that it is original scribe decorated with folk art hex sign pinwheels. theres two large ones on the top lid ... moreand underneath the lid is profusely decorated with them which ive tried to capture on the pictures and theres even one on one of the drawer tills. I believe this chest uniquely functioned as a high end tool or machinest chest because it does have two different level sliding tills and what looks to be a graduated drill bit holder on the back inside. total measurements are 25 1/4'w x 13 3/8'h x 12 3/4'd with early original square nail construction, there are two small screws on the back which obviously were added at a later date to tighten an area up. to sum it up, this chest is a real looker and has extraordinary primitive appeal.

Antique Pennsylvania PA Painted Miniature Blanket Chest Signed American Folk Art
WOW! I mean W.O.W. FRESH from an incredible estate this past weekend. This OLD(avid collectors) estate was packed with EARLY AMERICAN items-furniture. Boxes, chests, maps, ect. I snatched this baby up! This early Pennsylvania chest is gorgeous-all hand made-dovetailed construction with square nails. BEAUTIFUL original paint! Signed several times in several places on the bottom-I can only make one out for sure-Amanda Batz. If you google her, you will find right away an Amanda Batz who was born in Pennsylvania on May 1st, 1836. I don't know if this was passed down to her or painted by her? There are other names and possibly dates which, with a little more time and effort, could probably be made out and someone could probably figure out when and for whom and possibly by whom this was made. I will leave this enticing mystery for the lucky ... morenew owner to solve! A COLLECTORS DREAM! Almost 19" across. A little over 11" tall and almost 10&1/2" deep. Excellent. Solid condition with no smells. It looks like one of the front legs was repaired at some point.

A Wonderful Antique Stage Coach Trunk. The trunk is hand made of wood looks to be in original condition. Some small pieces or parts may be missing, it has wheels on the bottom part of one is missing, still for a trunk of this age it is very nice. The straps buttons are brass. The Shield Lock and Key look original, most of the straps are still with the trunk. Please check Photos for details. The trunk has been stored away for many years. Looks to be in very good condition. Wonderful NEW ENGLAND chest in original red paint. Found in a coastal Maine home. This rare country chest has the best form, AND SIZE 36" wide, 40" tall, 17.5" deep. The cutout base has a 7" lift and looks to be original height. The beautiful red paint is first coat and there is a coat of old varnish that was probably put on in the late 1800's. I would date this chest to 1850. The hardware appears to be original. Please see photos. The drawers are beautifully dovetailed and the drawer bottoms are original. IT EVEN HAS ORIG KEY! it has a 2 board back. A great piece of folk art in its purest condition. There are minor scratched and a small chip in the foot and a old square nail repair but absolutely nothing to detract from the rare chest! please see photos. I have handled a lot of Maine furniture in the last 30 years ... moreand this has to be one of the best chests, paint& condition wise I have found. Norwegian Rosemaled bridal chest Telemark Norway Scandinavian folk art 1825
Up for auction is a very high quality rosemaled chest dated 1825 and with the owners initials on the front. The chest is probably a wedding chest. It originates from Telemark and i belive it comes from a farm called Bakka in Nissedal, with the chest there is a document stating the decendants after Andreas Bakke and Maren Elisabeth Nysom who lived on this farm. The chest has very good quality rosemaled floral patterns on a dark blue background, the roses has a very vibrant red colour in the floral patterns that are very elaborate, the quality of the rosemaling suggests that a master of this art painted it almost 200 years ago. The chest has wonderful metalwork on it and this was not cheap when it was made, the handles on the sides has a sculptural form to them. The inside of the chest i heavily decorated with paint tecnique that gives a marble ... moreeffect, and the small draver inside the chest has been carved. The lock is original with marble tecnique on it, is not functioning, but still has the original key. The chest would be a great addition to any collection of farm antiques from Norway, Sweden or Scandinavia as a whole. The condition is very good with some wear to rosemaling patterns on lid of the chest, since the chest is from the inland of Telemark there are no wormholes. This would be a great piece for any collector with norwegian heritage and a great way to display this heritage. It measures 44" wide 25" tall and 23.6" deep. Due to size it will be shiped by air and normaly delivered to your door. The cost for this is stated to cost 300$, actual cost is about 600$ so im covering half of the shipping cost. I was not going to go out today but your glad I did! look at this little Q-T! in orig paint wonderful dovetail construction. the best size! look at those hinges. You will want to display this open its so nice. its been years since I have found one,very rare to find small dovetailed kids boxes. this is great for the top of the stack! its old and dry. well used and lots of life left. it has some drips of over paint and a little swab of white wash(see picks) i am sure it will come off, but I know better to fiddle with this painted stuff! don't want your feathers ruffled! I will leave the clean up and waxing to you. I did take out the lining that was stapled in. it was covering the rat tail hinges! the locks gone and grandpa put some ceder in the bottom to make it smell nice and keep out the moths! there is a board nailed on the back witch ... moreyou can pop off it has orig square nails holding it on! been there forever like a lid stop. as you see there is normal ware etc. all the molding is orig and all there. have at it folks. winner pays all shipping and insurance. or you can pick up for free! size is 25 1/2 ins wide 13 1/2 deep by 12 ins tall! no reserve sweet!

I do not know the age of the painting but it is charming and colorful. Up for sale is a rare antique leather box made by Nathan Neat Co. out of Boston. MA. Box was made between the 1820's- 1840's. The exterior of the box is covered with dark brown leather secured by brass tacks. The interior is lined with its original printed wallpaper, with the original label on the inside of the lid. Also has original lock, but no key. Was in the same Northern Vermont family for many years. Measures approximately 14" in width, 6 1/2" in height, and 9" in depth. The leather is old, cracked and has some worn areas, but overall is in good condition for its age. Has original initials(W L) on the front. Box is missing the handle. The chest originates from the county of Sogn og Fjordane in the West part of Norway. it has very high quality floral patterns that is called rosemaling and typical of the Norwegian farm qulture. It is constructed of pine with all surfaces painted with the exception of the inside and bottom. It is a very nice display size with outside measurements of 36" wide. 22" tall and 18" deep. The folk painted surfaces have some wear as shown and there is fine crazing/ oxidation attributable to the age. Very fine shape for 164 years old. Nice forged strap hinges. OUTSTANDING ORIGINAL AS FOUND AMERICAN FOLK ART PENNSYLVANIA DUTCH PAINTED BLANKET CHEST FRONT DATED 1849This is one of the best all original painted Pennsylvania Dutch blanket chests I have seen. It was found in Pennsylvania and salvaged from a destroyed blanket chest. The colors are fantastic. The background is a blue green and on each end there are painted lilies in orange/red with the same design in the center. They may be tulips but I am not sure. There are two framed panels with moldings around the perimeter(some of the molding is chipped) These have a goldenrod colored background and several plants and two flower pots all in several colors of green. Red, orange, etc. There is NO OVERPAINTING at all on this complete panel. This chest front contains a metal lock plate as well as the complete lock on the back side. The front is dated 1849(which has faded a lot but can still be read) This is an unbelievably rare painted panel piece of the Pennsylvania Dutch. The ends still retain the dovetail cuts with the right side still having the cutoff pieces of the side which could be poked out and removed. Rare Early American Folk Art Pegged Oak Chest c. 18th/19th Century
I have an early American pegged oak trunk from the late 18th/early 19th century or possibly older. Its in structurally good shape but has some ware to the front and a small area on the left. Its a very interesting piece of furniture as it has no nails. All the joints are hand carved and pegged together, even the wood was hand hewn. Its possibly a colonial piece that was made by farmers or settlers on the East Coast. It also has designed carved into the surface that look like Native American designs like arrow heads. Iv never really seen anything like it. Also the metal component for the lock is forged from the look of it. The only piece on the chest that seems to be new is the hinges which consist of two wooden dowels placed on each side to hold the lid in place. Beautiful late 1800's folk art wooden trunk in great condition for it's age. Has a hand carved pistol on top. Two horse heads on the front and a cowboy on a bucking bronco on the inside of the lid. Has a rich patina and displays beautifully. Shows wear as seen in the photos from age/use. Is missing one side handle. Sold as is with a low opening bid. Measures 20 inches by 8 inches by 6 inches. This nice early miniature wooden trunk has all the charm and appeal of primitive folk art. The trunk seems to be hand made. It has different nails. Screws, the leather straps have uneven widths, the top metal latch seems to also be hand made. Side straps are missing, paper loss, scratches, cracks, dirt, dust. Outside piece of leather strap and buckle are not attached. Check photos! Measures 12"l x 7.5"w x 7 1/4"h. Removable tray measures 10 3/4"l x 6 1/4"w x 1 1/2"h. Antique 1897 Painted Scandinavian Dutch Blanket Chest Trunk Folk Art Primitive
This hand painted old chest is 53" long. 21" wide, 21 1/2" tall and I'm not sure what type of wood it is. It is dated 1897 and there are some names and dates written on the inside of the lid. There is wear- the paint is mostly worn off of the top. The lock has been removed and the keyhole plugged, the screws in the hinges have been replaced, there is some wormwood and the candle box has been rebuilt. The bottom"feet" have some rot and someone cut the worst off so it would sit level. Even with the wear to the wood it is still very sturdy and strong.
