England c.1880 This transfer printed toy plate circa 1880 was originally part of an early child's or doll house play tea set. The color is sepia or chocolate brown against a creamy white earthenware. The plate measures 5 3/8" in diameter. It features a water hen or Guinea Hen(the English name for the American Coot) feeding in a lily pond with cat tails and reeds. The background is an aesthetic composition of lush flowers. Swallows, and an inset of a castle. There is a zig zag patterned trim along the rim. This pattern is pictured and discussed in Lorraine Punchard's Playtime Porcelain and Pottery as well as Petra Williams' Romantic Staffordshire. This auction is for a beautiful Carlsbad Victoria Condensed Milk Container that has been saved by my family. I am not a collector. With lid. It measures approx 5" tall and is approx. 3 1/2" wide. There is a hole in the bottom for pushing up the can of milk. The container features a beautiful painted flowers& leaves and framed with a detailed gold/green trim. There is a small crack in the bottom. Back side. See photos 4 and 10. It is more visible when you hold the jar upside down. When you remove the jar lid, it looks like some of the green paint from the very top has been worn off from use. See photo#6. I cannot see any other flaws or blemishes. Up for bids is a super antique Chinese ceramic glazed ginger pot. There is no writing or maker's mark. The pot possibly dates around the early part of the 1900's so could be Qing Dynasty. There are two light blue circles on the base. The pot is finished in dark blue and white with a cherry blossom design and it still has the original lid. The lid just fits loosely on top as there would have been a piece of fabric between the pot and the lid. The pot has a manufacturing crease mark at the top near the entrance which I have shown in the pictures- this is on the surface only and does not go right through and does not detract from the pot. Brown Aesthetic Transferware Toy Biscuit Jar WATER HEN Charles Allerton& Sons Staffordshire. England c.1880 This transfer printed biscuit jar or sugar pot circa 1880 was originally part of an early child's or doll house play tea set. The color is sepia or chocolate brown against a creamy white earthenware. The rare tear drop or pear shaped form of the box has fancy applied handles and finial. The pot features a water hen or Guinea Hen(the English name for the American Coot) feeding in a lily pond with cat tails and reeds. The background is an aesthetic composition of lush flowers. Swallows, and an inset of a castle. There is a zig zag patterned trim along the rim. The decoration reapeats on each side of the pot leaving little white space. This pattern is pictured and discussed in Lorraine Punchard's Playtime Porcelain and Pottery ... moreas well as Petra Williams' Romantic Staffordshire. The pot is marked with pattern name is WATER HEN registered with number 754 by Charles Allerton and Sons. A pottery manufacturer in the Staffordshire region of England who was well known for his whimsical children's tea sets. The pot is in fairly good overall condition. Mild patina, with a chip on edge(where the lid sits) spoon dings inside the rim and no other chips cracks or repairs. The lid has a steamhole. The workmanship is haphazard, which is one of the reasons many people collect it.not fine china, and not meant to be; it was made for children and probably considered disposable. The transfers are not aligned neatly, there is runny glaze and little bumps and dips and transfer wrinkles and glazed over edge frits original to the making. The naïve and hasty style adds to the folksy charm. Overall. A nice example of a rare form. The biscuit jar or sugar pot is in especially fine condition considering is 125 years old. This cookie jar shaped like John Glenn's Friendship 7 Mercury capsule and was produced by McCoy Pottery between 1962 and 1968. McCoy cookie jars in various novelty shapes were available for sale in"five and dime" stores and department stores such as JCPenney's. The popularity of this Mercury capsule cookie jar was a part of the space craze of the early 1960s. The cookie jar is in very good condition. Some of the white paint on the lid has worn off. But the rest of the capsule appears to be in excellent condition with no chips, cracks or major blemishes.

Antique Tobacco Jar Taylor & Tunnicliffe c.late 1800's Dickens characters, cool!
Up for auction is a china tobacco jar manufactured by Tayor& Tunnicliffe circa late 1800's. The jar is 7" high X 4 1/2" in diameter and has the T& T crown marking at base. The color of the jar is a lovely cerulean blue and features characters for Charles Dickens stories- Mr. Turveydrop form Bleak House. Dolly Vardon from Barnaby Rudge, The Marchioness form Dick Swiveller, and Captain Cuttle form Dombey& Son. The top is heavy china with detachable dryer disc and fluted metal know with china insert imprinted with picture of white bulldog. The jar has some damage, most notibly a missing piece from the rim, and lesser scratches and wear-and-tear on surface. It is a very charming piece!

Ornate Covered Jar Applied& Reticulated Porcelain This extraordinary covered jar has marvelous porcelain details. The floral and berry details are all applied hand crafted porcelain. The porcelain form of both lid and jar is embossed with additional scrolling and vine details. Front and back of the jar have identical applied banners with lattice reticulation. So the jar appears at first glance to be pierced! The ends of both banners flare somewhat. Providing handles. All flowers. Foliage and berries are hand painted. Gilding is also generously applied on embossed designs as well as rims and borders. The lid fits securely within a flat rim and porcelain roses form the finial. The base is paneled and footed(8 feet) and these are gilded at the tips. The mark on the base is a green embossed stylized crown with the initials“A” and“S” beneath ... moreit. I have been unable to determine the factory. But speculate that it might have been in Bavaria/Germany. Is it very early Schumann? I hope my photos do justice to the artistry and quality! 2 Antique French Porcelain Tea Caddy Jar HP Crossed Feather Arrow Jean Petit ?
2 beautiful antique. Matching, hand painted porcelain jars or tea caddies. Marked. Made in France Hand Painted in red script, but worn. Also marked with the 2 crossed arrows or feathers or wheat stalks. There are a number of porcelain makers that use those marks in several countries. There are at least 3 different companies in France that use them as well. The mention of the country of origin in backstamps indicates that these pieces were made after 1891. Dimensions: 4" tall to the rim. 5" long, 2" wide. The opening ins 1.75" diameter. Condition: Excellent. No chips or cracks or hairlines. There is notable image loss where the lid sits that is visible when the lid is removed. I think this is expected with this type of piece. The underside is pretty dirty. This is also pretty normal for unglazed porcelain.

The tea caddy illustrated shows many of the characteristics of blue and white porcelain produced during the Kangxi period. The translucent body showing through the clear glaze is of great whiteness and the cobalt decoration. Applied in many layers, has a fine blue hue.
