Up for auction is a beautiful antique porcelain BISCUIT CRACKER JAR. It is beautifully decorated with pink roses and shades of pink fading in and out. It is a stunning piece. It is marked on the bottom Three Crown China GERMANY. It is in excellent condition except for the one little nick on the inside rim. You don't notice it since it is on the underside mostly. The lid. The handles and the body are all Excellent. This lovely antique piece has been on display on my marble top victorian buffet for quite some time. Up for sale we have an extra fancy Gilded Nippon Covered Biscuit Jar. Or also called a Cracker Barrel. This porcelain piece is from the late 19th century and has lots of Victorian fanciful detail. It is marked on the bottom with the blue Nippon Mark. The china is a snow white and shows off the beautiful marron bands or color accented by the heavy gold enamel. The handles have much molded detail and are also accented with heavy gold. The Barrel measures 9" wide at the handles by 6" tall to the top of the elaborate finial handle. Height measures 5-1/4" to top of lid finial. Pink. Floral transfers on both sides of jar and lid. Color is green fading to an almost antique white. Edge of lid and jar rim trimmed in gold gilt. It is an antique biscuit jar with metal lid which is tarnishing but a magnet does not stick to it. It does not smell like silverplate. It is marked 8103 with an x under it and also etched lightly in lid is m2775 yu/ne/ The bottom is marked in flow blue color on the bottom but cant make out the design or maker. The porcelain or ceramic has gorgeous blue flowers and some gold flecks in the painting and has crazing all over but not the coffee stain ugly kind.more like the I'm old so don't hate me kind; In picture 4 the sticker residue came off after pictures sorry. Didn't see it before pictures. It stands with handle down not up about 7 inches and is about 5 1/2 to 6 inches wide, it's round so ... morehard to measure. Back and lid with lovely cream and coral colored large roses accented with lovely green foilage surround the jar. The rim is scalloped as well as the lid and it fits on and inner twines with the base. The jar stands approx. 7" high with the lid in place, and, measures approx. 7 1/2" in diameter at the center of the jar. Look closely at the pictures for the molded design around the top as well, just beautiful. There is no maker mark on the piece, but, I would guess it is German made. Franziska Hirsch Early Mark Porcelain Cracker Biscuit Jar Blue Red Imari Style
Wonderful Franziska Hirsch biscuit jar up for auction. Franziska Hirsch first started a studio in 1894 in Saxony. Struwestrasse 19. Hirsch would buy unfinished porcelain and decorate them and resell. The mark choosen, blue crossed marks with an H, closely resembles the Meissen mark. In 1896 Meissen filed a complaint against imitation of their patented mark and Hirsch was forbid to use it. Hirsch then went with the winged H mark. So this closely dates this piece to 1894-1896. The glaze is in a Imari style with dark blue patches with a floral design in red and bordered in gold. Unfortunately a lot of the gold is worn away. The metal top has a beehive like pattern. It was once silver plated, but now gone, just leaving the base metal. Underneath one hinge is a stamp"D.J.A.G. 2079" I cannot find anything on this mark from my research. ... moreThe lid fits very very snug, hard to get in between the hinges. I see a tiny indent on the rim of the band on top of the jar. The inside on the rim of the lid has two dents. The porcelain has one tiny chip on the inside rim on the bottom. NO cracks or stains. Antique 1905 Oak Porcelain Biscuit-Cracker-Cookie Jar~Cathedral Oak Tree
If you check out my last picture you will see both of my estate found antique oak-porcelain British Biscuit-Cookie Jars that are listed this week. However this listing is for the Dark Oak jar on the right with the etched silveplated plaque that reads~Sheffield Cathedral Oak 13th~14th Century. I believe this jar may have been made from slavaged wood from the Sheffield Cathedral. The unique oak barrel has two chipped carved rings around the body of the barrel with a silverplated lid and handle. The heavy porcelain insert keeps the cookies-crackers or biscuits fresh while making a nice display on the breakfast table. The jar is still in excellent condition, there are three old vertical shrinkage lines on the body of the old oak, but the barrel is still sturdy& solid. Beautifully decorated with deep color of purple pansies and white wisteria with green leaves. Lid is highly decorated with the same design. Approximate measurements for this piece is 5 1/2" x 6" No cracks.No repairs,some light crazing in inside of lid. This is a great piece for the years of use. Porcelain Hand Painted Melon Shaped Cracker Biscuit Jar Flowers with Gold Trim
Up for sale. A beautifully hand painted cracker jar. This jar features wide gold bands trimmed with pink, green, yellow, and blue flowers. This jar is not marked anywhere so I am not sure who the makers is or how old it is. It does show some age though. It reminds me of some of the porcelain that came out of Japan, but I can't be sure. This jar doesn't have any chips or repair. There is a small area on the lid that has what looks to be a fold in the porcelain(see pic) The porcelain does have some air bubbles and bumps and a couple stray paint marks. The gold paint is faded in some areas and does show wear. The piece is not fully glazed. The bottom and top rim of the jar and the bottom rim of the lid are unglazed. Antique English OAK Canister Porcelain Lined TEA Biscuit Barrel Cracker Jar
Here we have a beautiful antique silver plate banded solid oak biscuit barrel. It is in excellent vintage condition with the expected minor separation of the barrel stays. Note the detailed finial of the lid. The cannister is porcelain lined with the porcelain showing some crazing but no cracks or chips. The metal shows some very minor brassing but the piece displays very well and is ready for use. It measures about 9 1/2 inches high including the bale handle. It is about 5 inches in diameter at it widest point. Shipping weight. Well packed, is 4 lbs. Insurance has been added to the shipping cost as per Ebay's mandate. Antique Porcelain Biscuit/Cracker Jar from Louise Germany-Early 1900's-Ex. Cond.
For Sale: Antique Hand Painted porcelain biscuit/cracker jar from Louise Germany. There is an emblem on the back that reads J C Louise Germany. I can't make out the top name above J C. It is from the very early 1900's. Possibly earlier. This is a lovely biscuit jar. Hand painted in different greens with white roses. There is a handle on each side. It has a lid with a swirl handle on the top. There is gold color around the handles and edges of lid and jar. 6" across the top Handles come out 1" from jar. 7 3/4" width including the handles. Lid 5 1/2" I never used this as a biscuit jar. Just as display in my home. There are NO chips or scratches. It would be hard to find another piece in this wonderful condition. This lovely biscuit jar had only one owner before me. It belonged to the Grandparents of a friend. She ... moresaid they only owned the best and this porcelain jar is an example of that. Vintage biscuit jar. It's hallmarked H M& C made in England with a pretty floral type pattern. I see crazing throughout. But it's within the glaze. There are no cracks or breaks. Will need a good cleaning, but overall it's a good quality piece. Please note: I strive very hard to keep my 5 star rating. So please contact me if for any reason you're not totally satisfied. Wave Crest is an antique glass line produced by the C.F. Monroe Company of Meriden. Connecticut around 1892. One of the most important names associated with the company is Carl V. Helmschmied, who has a very popular glass blank named for him called the Helmschmied swirl. The C.F. Monroe Company offered a broad array of antique glass, some with silver plate, brass and sterling mountings. It is important to note that Wave Crest blown glass blanks were made by a variety of other companies. Including the Mt. Washington Glass Company, then purchased by C.F. Monroe for final decorating by highly accomplished enamel artists. A beautiful porcelain biscuit barrel or cracker jar. Hand painted with a portrait of a courting scene on one side and gold painting on the other. Cobalt blue exterior and smooth white interior, the jar is very clean and in very nice condition. Marked with an R/S on the bottom of the jar. The handle and lid appear to be brass. Amazing portrait piece!
