It is in excellent vintage condition with the expected minor separation ... moreof the barrel stays. Note the detailed finial of the lid. The cannister is porcelain lined with the porcelain showing some crazing but no cracks or chips. The metal shows some very minor brassing but the piece displays very well and is ready for use. It measures about 9 1/2 inches high including the bale handle. It is about 5 inches in diameter at it widest point. Shipping weight. Well packed, is 4 lbs. The tin has a hinged lid and once contained biscuits from Scribbans Kemp. It dates to circa 1954. There is generalized patina on the tin for an antique look. The vintage wear and patina includes some small areas of wear. Some small scratches and scuffs, some handling marks and soiling, some small dents and dings, etc. Lid is a little more muted than base and has some noticeable soiling. Noticeable denting on front side and one end of base. Some sticky sticker residue on front side. A few more noticeable scratches here and there. Still fairly small. Much of inside is covered with dark patina. There is rust inside- around the interior crevice. And around the upper edges and around the lid, including at the hinge areas. Several reverse dings and some other normal wear on bottom. Hinges seem attached well enough and they move freely until they hit a kink when the lid is almost closed. So there is some wonkiness to the open/close situation. And a little coaxing is required. Again. Condition issues of note: NOTICEABLE DENTING ON FRONT SIDE OF BASE AND ON ONE END. Lid is more muted and has noticeable soiling. A few more noticeable small scratches here and there. Some sticky sticker residue on front side. Some rust inside– at crevice. Upper edges, around inside lid edge, at hinge area, etc. Some wonkiness to the hinges. Open/close requires some coaxing. Approximate size of tin is about 11.25” by 3.5” by about 4” tall. I believe this Biscuit Jar is from the early turn of the century 1900s. Possibly a little older. I have seen one other of these on Ebay. It was traced back before 1920. It was marked Bristol English Ware. This one is also marked"Bristol English Ware" but is very difficult to read. The lid is marked"N.S. Nickel Silver. The barrel is marked at the bottom Measurements: 9" tall. Base is 6" in diameter. The condition of this jewel is in Excellent condition with no chips or cracks. The crac ker jar is white. And as mentioned above. The lower area of the jar has a blown out plume or acanthus leaf design. This design is repeated around the inner part of the lid. The handle on the lid, the rim areas of both the lid and jar have an irregular cobalt area. There are handpainted pink and purple roses with green foliage painted near the cobalt areas. The"plume-like" areas have smaller pink and purple flowers. There is gold! Oh yes, if you are one of our regular buyers, you know we love gold! Gold flourishes are painted over the cobalt areas. Gold outlines the leaves/plumes and outlines the areas where the blownout part of the mold begins. There are also gold flourishes in the white area of the jar. This thing is gorgeous! Antique. Staffordshire, Earthenware, Biscuit Jar. Circia, 1800's, and it is an absolutely gorgeous biscuit barrel or cracker jar. The lid is engraved, Made in England" and"EPNS" electro-plated nickel silver, commonly known as silver plate. The lid is a little tarnished and there is some wear, which is probably normal and would be expected for the age. The bottom is marked: WITH PEEK. FREAN& Co.s COMPLIMENTS" S.F& Co. ENGLAND" it has the Crown Logo, and a raised square with a number in it. There are no chips, cracks, or repairs but there is some crazing. My Grams collected and received her biscuit/ cracker jars from my Grandpa as gifts while he was serving in WWII and after he came home. This particular jar was old when he purchased it. It was made in England sometime between 1885-1888. The pattern of this piece is Summer. There is crazing on this piece and some places with some light yellow staining. Antique Vintage English Biscuit Jar/Cracker Barrel Hand Painted Artist Signed
A beautiful antique/vintage hand painted artist signed ceramic and metal(the metal looks to me like silver plate) English biscuit jar or perhaps a cracker barrel with gorgeous floral designs and wonderful colors! The piece measures to be about 7" tall( about 9" with handle up) x about 7" wide x about 7" deep. I am not an expert. But I believe the piece dates from the late Victorian era or Edwardian era, but it is possible for the piece to be a bit later. Please note this piece is being sold for decorative and/or collection purposes and is not intended to be used to actually store or serve food from. I could not find any mark identifying the maker of the jar itself and I could not make out the artists signature. However there is a mark on the lid which says"B.H.A. MANUFACTURED IN ENGLAND" I did some on line research ... moreand found there was a notable English silver smith by the name of Barnett Henry Abrahams. Which used the initials BHA, and which apparently made lids for some of Wedgwood's biscuit jars. I do not think this biscuit jar was made by Wedgwood and the mark used by Barnett Henry Abraham had rectangles around the B, the H and the A, instead of periods after each letter, like the mark on our lid. But I think there is still a good possibility that Barnett Henry Abrahams, which operated in the same period I believe this jar was made, might have been the producer of our lid. Though the exact pedigree of this biscuit jar is not clear. What is clear is that it is an exceptionally beautiful piece and it is in very good antique/vintage condition! Like all items of significant age and use, it does have some minor faults including: craquelure and small surface cracks, chipping, rubbing, discoloration including some stray paint marks, paint loss, scratches, discoloration and tarnish. It is in excellent condition. There are no cracks. Chips, crazing or repairs. The inside is a shiny porcelain and the outside is done in a sand texture. The deep indigo blue flowers are heavily accented with gold, and there is a gold line edging the lower rim as well as small pin dots of gold filling in the lower edge of the combed upper edge of the barrell, The rim, handle and lid are silverplate and are in very good condition, as well. There is a tiny pit on one spot of the rim(see photo) From the top of the extended handle to the base the piece measures 9 1/2" and is 5 1/4" across. It weighs 1.5 lbs. Antique English Porcelain Homestead Biscuit Barrel Excellent Condition
Antique English biscuit barrel made of porcelain. The barrel has homestead design on both ends. The body has hand painted pine leaf branches in gold. The lid has a ribboned bow decorated in gold. There are two gold knobs on the sides. On the base of the barrel there is a number of 1877 and the letter M. I am not sure if that was the year made. Apart from losing some of the gold decorations around the bow. The knobs and the lid where it was touched a lot the barrel is in excellent condition. There is no chip or crack. Measurement: 14 cm x 14.5 cm x 13.5 cm'Most of my collection is one of a kind. I bought the items because I liked it for myself. They were never intended to be resold. Approx. dating is 1910 from what I found. The Top and rim is EPSN which is electric plate over nickel silver which is stamp into the rim and on the top is N S of what I see. The jar shows great color and was done very well. As with an item of this age the photo's show the crackel but the jar looks great. The dimensions are 6"dia. x 7" with the handle approx. If you check out my last picture you will see both of my estate found antique oak-porcelain British Biscuit-Cookie Jars that are listed this week. However this listing is for the Lighter Oak jar on the left side with decorated with a silverplated shield on one side and a rectangle brass plaque on the otherside that reads~PRIZE Presented by George Hadfield& Co Fertilzer Works Liverpool. I believe this jar may have been made from slavaged wood from the Sheffield Cathedral. The solid striped oak barrel is accented with four silverplated rings, lid and handle, with a heavy porcelain insert that keeps the cookies-crackers or biscuits fresh while making a nice display on the breakfast table. Still in near perfect condition some minor wear to the plate on the lid and rings and handle can be polished much nicer.total weight 3 lbs.

Antique Biscuit Cracker Jar Barrel with Silver Lid and Handle
For is a very old unmarked biscuit/cracker barrel/jar. It is a very pretty white with hand-painted pink and blue flowers with green leaves and raised white dots. Mostly on the sides of the jar between the floral paintings there are some scratches in the white color. But it was bought that way from the estate sale where I purchased it. There is a small(pencil eraser size) flake/chip in the jar on the front lower right rim of the jar. The metal top, handle, and rim are in good condition; there is one tiny dent on each side of the metal rim where the handle has been brought down. The jar measures 6 1/4" from table top to top rim jar and 9 3/4" from table top to top of handle. It measures about 5 1/2" at its widest. There is what looks like a scratch on the base of the jar, but it could be that the material folded slightly during ... morethe manufacturing process. Please zoom on photos and read description. I do not see any flaws to the body of this gorgeous piece. There is a small chip underneath around the edge that it sits on. But it seems to be from when it was hand painted, as there is some of the red color like in the edge detail around this perimeter and in the chip. This is an estate sale find and was presented to me as a porcelain antique biscuit jar with a silver top. I'm pretty certain that it is silver plate. There is some discoloration to the silver, so please zoom. The spots on the silver appear green and I am not an expert, but I think perhaps it is silver plate on copper and the copper that came through greened. It looks as though someone possibly tested the under side of the lid for silver as there are scrapes in it, again that look copper and green. I did try to research it and found that the raised dots in the painted finish are called moriage. Which is a Japanese technique. I cannot find a maker mark or in any other way tie it to Japan. Antique R S Prussia Germany Style Cracker Biscuit Barrel Jar~ Acorns & Leaves~
This listing is for a"Acorn& Leaf" Biscuit/Cracker Jar we have from a private collection. This piece was purchased by our client back in the 1970's. It is a fancy mold Victorian Biscuit Jar completely original with its matching china lid. This is a large Jar that will hold quite a few tea biscuits. We believe it is from the German RS Prussia Studio's. The barrel measures 5 3/4" tall by 8 3/4" wide at the handles. The finish is very good with a nice glaze& delicate brightly colored Roses. Mums, Daisey's. There are no chips cracks nor restoration as a whole. There is a little bit of surface wear, but it is near invisible. We mention it only to be consistant with the age of this porcelain. The glaze is very beautiful. There is a opalescent finish over the hand painting. This is a turn of the century Jar ... morethat has been well kept for over 110 plus years. The Barrel is Un-Marked like many Victorian porcelains from the late 1800's.
