English fox hunting scenes ... moreare depicted in a very detailed manner. With lots of movement– as the chase is on! Long, thin, rectangular shape- with a slightly unexpected tall height. The tin has a hinged lid and once contained biscuits from Scribbans Kemp. It dates to circa 1954. There is generalized patina on the tin for an antique look. The vintage wear and patina includes some small areas of wear. Some small scratches and scuffs, some handling marks and soiling, some small dents and dings, etc. Lid is a little more muted than base and has some noticeable soiling. Noticeable denting on front side and one end of base. Some sticky sticker residue on front side. A few more noticeable scratches here and there. Still fairly small. Much of inside is covered with dark patina. There is rust inside- around the interior crevice. And around the upper edges and around the lid, including at the hinge areas. Several reverse dings and some other normal wear on bottom. Hinges seem attached well enough and they move freely until they hit a kink when the lid is almost closed. So there is some wonkiness to the open/close situation. And a little coaxing is required. Again. Condition issues of note: NOTICEABLE DENTING ON FRONT SIDE OF BASE AND ON ONE END. Lid is more muted and has noticeable soiling. A few more noticeable small scratches here and there. Some sticky sticker residue on front side. Some rust inside– at crevice. Upper edges, around inside lid edge, at hinge area, etc. Some wonkiness to the hinges. Open/close requires some coaxing. Approximate size of tin is about 11.25” by 3.5” by about 4” tall. This wonderful vintage collectable was recently rescued from an Estate Auction. DESCRIPTION- 498: Looking for a new forever home is this rescued 4 CUP JAPANESE TEA POT and COVERED DOUBLE HANDLED SUGAR BOWL or JAR. They feature a design of pretty GEISHA GIRLS in their kimono's and carrying umbrellas to keep their skin pristine. In the background is a HAND PAINTED pagoda. Landscape scene of hills, birds, water. Built in diffuser holes on inside of spout opening in pot keeps tea leaves and bags inside pot where they belong. Just lovely in shades of pink, brown, black, grey, gold, some green and burnt orange on a white background. No major damage at all, but normal vintage issues including tiny"pepper" spots in glaze, a few original areas where top shiny glaze has missed covering the bisque, little unfinished nibs, some tiny bumps ... moreand pin holes& pits in both pieces. The hand painting is detailed and facinating to think someone hand painted all that. Gold gilting accents on girls robes, tiny raised white moraige dots on pagoda roof. Some gold rub and loss to the gold gilting on handle and flower shaped handle on top of tea pot and sugar bowl lids. Still managed to stay pretty darn nice all these years, but there is no matching creamer to go with this pair. How fun, try to find a matching creamer on ebay and complete your pair! BACK STAMP: Both pieces are hand signed by the artist on the bottom. I researched this maker's mark and cannot locate anything like it. Sources tell me this is the artists signature and it is from the late 40's early 1950's. Imported from Japan. CONDITION and PHOTOS: Most items I rescue are extremely old or vintage and normally will show signs of use and wear. Which is part of their appeal. Offered is this beautiful white porcelain china tea caddy or biscuit jar. Decorated with blue flowers with yellow centers on both sides and trimmed in gold. The piece is unmarked so I don't know the manufacturer or age. I have been told it may be English but I don't know that for sure. There is what appears to be a signature to the lower-right of the flower design(see last photo) but I can't tell what it says. The oval-shaped piece has four vertical indents and stands 8" tall. It is approx. 5 1/4" wide at its widest point. It is in excellent condition. With no chips, cracks or scratches. The lid sits levelly but does not fit tightly. I would imagine by design. They both have metal lids, handles and lettering, the oak barrels do need a little TLC hence the low price for the two. Probably made in England. A Brothers is for Ashford according to replacements.com This is quite special to have different colors in it. The outlines are brown. There's blue flowers probably violets and yellow florals plus pink. Wow! plus there's leaves and what looks like wheat. There's even a bug looking like a bumble bee on the back. It may have been used for cookies as the lid has a tea color stained area around the inside. There's also a chip on inside of the base at the top area. This displays gorgeously as the lid hides the chip and when lid is on it hides the staining. Otherwise in wonderful vintage condition. Here we have a beautiful antique silver plate banded solid oak biscuit barrel. It is in excellent vintage condition with the expected minor separation of the barrel stays. Vintage LARGE Japan Tea Jar Biscuit/Cracker Canister Rattan Handle and CHERUB
Here we have a Large Vintage Japan Tea Jar Biscuit/Cracker Canister, Rattan Handle and Cherub Motif. It looks older and shows it's age. But mostly inside and underside. MANY GLARES IN PHOTO. It measures 7" tall(with lid) x 6" dia. not including handles) It is quite colorful and with raised painted decoration. The rattan handle is in good condition as well as most of the container area. The issue is with the lid which has been repaired. I unfortunately dropped it. Also on the Inside Lip of the container area there is a large chip which may show in photo. I'm sure it can be adjusted to be more air tight. The inside. Although CLEAN, shows crazing, age and discoloration. The bottom also shows discoloration and has a Raised Lettering"Made in Japan" From an old house that had four generations living in it.
