It measures about 9 1/2 inches high including the bale handle. It is about 5 inches in diameter at it widest point. Shipping weight. Well packed, is 4 lbs. English fox hunting scenes ... moreare depicted in a very detailed manner. With lots of movement– as the chase is on! Long, thin, rectangular shape- with a slightly unexpected tall height. The tin has a hinged lid and once contained biscuits from Scribbans Kemp. It dates to circa 1954. There is generalized patina on the tin for an antique look. The vintage wear and patina includes some small areas of wear. Some small scratches and scuffs, some handling marks and soiling, some small dents and dings, etc. Lid is a little more muted than base and has some noticeable soiling. Noticeable denting on front side and one end of base. Some sticky sticker residue on front side. A few more noticeable scratches here and there. Still fairly small. Much of inside is covered with dark patina. There is rust inside- around the interior crevice. And around the upper edges and around the lid, including at the hinge areas. Several reverse dings and some other normal wear on bottom. Hinges seem attached well enough and they move freely until they hit a kink when the lid is almost closed. So there is some wonkiness to the open/close situation. And a little coaxing is required. Again. Condition issues of note: NOTICEABLE DENTING ON FRONT SIDE OF BASE AND ON ONE END. Lid is more muted and has noticeable soiling. A few more noticeable small scratches here and there. Some sticky sticker residue on front side. Some rust inside– at crevice. Upper edges, around inside lid edge, at hinge area, etc. Some wonkiness to the hinges. Open/close requires some coaxing. Approximate size of tin is about 11.25” by 3.5” by about 4” tall. Pale Yellow with Cream color background- hand-painted floral motif in pink tones with green leaves- handle and lid are silver tone metal. Decorative ornate finial on lid- handle has a twisted motif. I believe this Biscuit Jar is from the early turn of the century 1900s. Possibly a little older. I have seen one other of these on Ebay. It was traced back before 1920. It was marked Bristol English Ware. This one is also marked"Bristol English Ware" but is very difficult to read. The lid is marked"N.S. Nickel Silver. UM Antique Ornate Cracker Jar Biscuit Barrel Cobalt Gold Roses Nippon? Limoges?
We have been on a buying trip and we are listing new items as quickly as we can. We will be listing them daily as time permits. Th ese pieces are nice. You won't be disappointed. We are always happy to co mbine items. When possible, so buyers can save on the shipping costs. This is a cracker jar. Or biscuit barrel. Basically. It's what a cookie jar was before we had supersized meals. Don't think chocolate chip cook ies bigger than a dinner plate; think animal crackers. Usually we tell you who made an item(Nippon. Limoges, Austria, RS Prussia) But, this time, we just can't tell you exactly who made it. The painting looks like Nippon, and we can find tons of items painted like this in our Nippon books. Likewise, Limoges& Austrian items can be found with this shape, the"plume-looking" blown-out bottom and area around ... morethe lid. We have seen cups and chocolate pots with this design. Since Japanese potters of the Nippon era were trained in the European style and imitated the work of Limoges, RS Prussia/Austria and German pieces, this is just a stab in the dark for us.but we think lots of you collectors will know! The crac ker jar is white. And as mentioned above. The lower area of the jar has a blown out plume or acanthus leaf design. This design is repeated around the inner part of the lid. The handle on the lid, the rim areas of both the lid and jar have an irregular cobalt area. There are handpainted pink and purple roses with green foliage painted near the cobalt areas. The"plume-like" areas have smaller pink and purple flowers. There is gold! Oh yes, if you are one of our regular buyers, you know we love gold! Gold flourishes are painted over the cobalt areas. Gold outlines the leaves/plumes and outlines the areas where the blownout part of the mold begins. There are also gold flourishes in the white area of the jar. This thing is gorgeous! A beautiful antique/vintage hand painted artist signed ceramic and metal(the metal looks to me like silver plate) English biscuit jar or perhaps a cracker barrel with gorgeous floral designs and wonderful colors! The piece measures to be about 7" tall( about 9" with handle up) x about 7" wide x about 7" deep. I am not an expert. But I believe the piece dates from the late Victorian era or Edwardian era, but it is possible for the piece to be a bit later. Please note this piece is being sold for decorative and/or collection purposes and is not intended to be used to actually store or serve food from. I could not find any mark identifying the maker of the jar itself and I could not make out the artists signature. However there is a mark on the lid which says"B.H.A. MANUFACTURED IN ENGLAND" I did some on line research ... moreand found there was a notable English silver smith by the name of Barnett Henry Abrahams. Which used the initials BHA, and which apparently made lids for some of Wedgwood's biscuit jars. I do not think this biscuit jar was made by Wedgwood and the mark used by Barnett Henry Abraham had rectangles around the B, the H and the A, instead of periods after each letter, like the mark on our lid. But I think there is still a good possibility that Barnett Henry Abrahams, which operated in the same period I believe this jar was made, might have been the producer of our lid. Though the exact pedigree of this biscuit jar is not clear. What is clear is that it is an exceptionally beautiful piece and it is in very good antique/vintage condition! Like all items of significant age and use, it does have some minor faults including: craquelure and small surface cracks, chipping, rubbing, discoloration including some stray paint marks, paint loss, scratches, discoloration and tarnish. Antique English Porcelain Homestead Biscuit Barrel Excellent Condition
Antique English biscuit barrel made of porcelain. The barrel has homestead design on both ends. The body has hand painted pine leaf branches in gold. The lid has a ribboned bow decorated in gold. There are two gold knobs on the sides. On the base of the barrel there is a number of 1877 and the letter M. I am not sure if that was the year made. Apart from losing some of the gold decorations around the bow. The knobs and the lid where it was touched a lot the barrel is in excellent condition. There is no chip or crack. However this listing is for the Lighter Oak jar on the left side with decorated with a silverplated shield on one side and a rectangle brass plaque on the otherside that reads~PRIZE Presented by George Hadfield& Co Fertilzer Works Liverpool. I believe this jar may have been made from slavaged wood from the Sheffield Cathedral. The solid striped oak barrel is accented with four silverplated rings, lid and handle, with a heavy porcelain insert that keeps the cookies-crackers or biscuits fresh while making a nice display on the breakfast table. Still in near perfect condition some minor wear to the plate on the lid and rings and handle can be polished much nicer.total weight 3 lbs.

Antique Biscuit Cracker Jar Barrel with Silver Lid and Handle
For is a very old unmarked biscuit/cracker barrel/jar. It is a very pretty white with hand-painted pink and blue flowers with green leaves and raised white dots. Mostly on the sides of the jar between the floral paintings there are some scratches in the white color. But it was bought that way from the estate sale where I purchased it. There is a small(pencil eraser size) flake/chip in the jar on the front lower right rim of the jar. The metal top, handle, and rim are in good condition; there is one tiny dent on each side of the metal rim where the handle has been brought down. The jar measures 6 1/4" from table top to top rim jar and 9 3/4" from table top to top of handle. It measures about 5 1/2" at its widest. The RN No# is 247274 which dates it between 1915 and 1932. This piece looks to have a silver-plate rim and handle that needs to be shined up(I won't disturb the patina) The lid looks brass or also silver-plate and has a swan sitting on top. Please zoom on photos and read description. I do not see any flaws to the body of this gorgeous piece. There is a small chip underneath around the edge that it sits on. But it seems to be from when it was hand painted, as there is some of the red color like in the edge detail around this perimeter and in the chip. This is an estate sale find and was presented to me as a porcelain antique biscuit jar with a silver top. I'm pretty certain that it is silver plate. There is some discoloration to the silver, so please zoom. The spots on the silver appear green and I am not an expert, but I think perhaps it is silver plate on copper and the copper that came through greened. It looks as though someone possibly tested the under side of the lid for silver as there are scrapes in it, again that look copper and green. I cannot tell you the date. ... moreEra or any such information. All I can do is present you the stunning piece that it is and what I was told. I did try to research it and found that the raised dots in the painted finish are called moriage. Which is a Japanese technique. I cannot find a maker mark or in any other way tie it to Japan. Other than visually. I did clean it with soap and water, but if there is a better way to shine it up, that will be left to the buyer. Measurements are approximately 6 1/2" widest width x 10" tall to the top of the extended handle. With the jar being 5" of the height plus another 2 1/2" for the silver top and lid. Ontario– Canada, specifically Kitchener and Ingersoll, after immigrating to Canada from Pennsylvania in the 1760’s. Later relatives were avid antique enthusiasts and many collectables& antiques have been carefully stored and passed down. And here we are offering from this collection. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ This gorgeous antique jar dates around the late 1800's to early 1900's and is hand painted with grames and vines in beautiful shades- the photos do not do it justice! For sale is a vintage English oak biscuit barrel. The barrel is 9 1/2 inches tall with the handle extended and 18 inches around. The under plate of the lid and the handle is marked EPNS(electro-plate nickel silver) The inside is made of porcelain. And there is a shield like plaque on the wooden barrel that could be engraved. This biscuit barrel is in very good condition. The oak has no marks or scratches, and the inside porcelain has no cracks or imperfections. The silver plate is in excellent condition as well. This is a unique and lovely English biscuit barrel done in Imari style and colors. It is made of ironstone and there is crazing. It is heavily gilded. Antique Ceramic Two-Faced Dog Biscuit(or Cookie) Barrel Bought this cute antique piece at an Austin Antique Shop years ago. I was told that it was English(no markings) and it was a small Biscuit Barrel. I believe that the dog featured on both sides is a Cocker Spaniel but I don't know, for sure. Excellent condition. The bottom of the piece shows wear but there are no cracks or chips in the piece. This is an adorable antique container that appears to be hand-painted. Antique English OAK Canister Porcelain Lined TEA Biscuit Barrel Cracker Jar
Here we have a beautiful antique silver plate banded solid oak biscuit barrel. It is in excellent vintage condition with the expected minor separation of the barrel stays. Note the detailed finial of the lid. The cannister is porcelain lined with the porcelain showing some crazing but no cracks or chips. The metal shows some very minor brassing but the piece displays very well and is ready for use. It measures about 9 1/2 inches high including the bale handle. It is about 5 inches in diameter at it widest point. Shipping weight. Well packed, is 4 lbs. Insurance has been added to the shipping cost as per Ebay's mandate. This very pretty biscuit barrel is beige/tan in color with subtle tones of peach. Yellow and blue, finished with gold gilding on the leaves and flowers. A silver plated handle and lid, the jar appears to be a bisque porcelain and is in nice condition. It does have age appropriate light scuffs and the lid needs polishing. No cracks or chips found. Antique Wood & Silverplate Porcelain Lined Biscuit Barrel Raeno Silver Plate Co
This is a porcelain-lined wooden biscuit barrel with silverplate handle. Lid, and trim. The handle is marked with"E.P.N.S. for electroplated nickel silver. The lid is also marked with"EPNS" as well as"RSPCo. and the remnant of a maker's mark believed to be that of Raeno Silver Plate Co Ltd of Birmingham, England. The age is unknown, but believed to be early 20th century. The underside of the knob on the lid is also marked"Patent No. 26047. The barrel is in good condition overall. The wooden staves are separated at the bottom of the barrel in two places and another stave is cracked at the bottom of the barrel. The porcelain lining is crazed completely. The silverplate is tarnished and shows some wear. This is a nice. Heavy piece- still usable and/or decorative.
