Very old Hand Painted Flosmaron Porcelain Tea Biscuit Jar made in England. It has a creamy yellow background with beautiful flowers in pink. Coral, and yellow with blue and green leaves. There's a pretty border design in blues. The bottom is mark stamped, Made in England" and"English Flosmaron Make" 506" hand numbered) and"Avon" county in England, not the American cosmetic company) We do not know what type of metal the rim edge and handle are made of, but it is stamped on the side of the metal rim, Made in England" and has a number or other symbols just above it that are wearing off. I believe this Biscuit Jar is from the early turn of the century 1900s. Possibly a little older. I have seen one other of these on Ebay. It was traced back before 1920. It was marked Bristol English Ware. This one is also marked"Bristol English Ware" but is very difficult to read. The lid is marked"N.S. Nickel Silver. We are always happy to co mbine items. When possible, so buyers can save on the shipping costs. This is a cracker jar. Or biscuit barrel. Basically. It's what a cookie jar was before we had supersized meals. Don't think chocolate chip cook ies bigger than a dinner plate; think animal crackers. Usually we tell you who made an item(Nippon. Limoges, Austria, RS Prussia) But, this time, we just can't tell you exactly who made it. The painting looks like Nippon, and we can find tons of items painted like this in our Nippon books. Likewise, Limoges& Austrian items can be found with this shape, the"plume-looking" blown-out bottom and area around ... morethe lid. We have seen cups and chocolate pots with this design. Since Japanese potters of the Nippon era were trained in the European style and imitated the work of Limoges, RS Prussia/Austria and German pieces, this is just a stab in the dark for us.but we think lots of you collectors will know! The crac ker jar is white. And as mentioned above. The lower area of the jar has a blown out plume or acanthus leaf design. This design is repeated around the inner part of the lid. The handle on the lid, the rim areas of both the lid and jar have an irregular cobalt area. There are handpainted pink and purple roses with green foliage painted near the cobalt areas. The"plume-like" areas have smaller pink and purple flowers. There is gold! Oh yes, if you are one of our regular buyers, you know we love gold! Gold flourishes are painted over the cobalt areas. Gold outlines the leaves/plumes and outlines the areas where the blownout part of the mold begins. There are also gold flourishes in the white area of the jar. This thing is gorgeous! Original cover matches the collar and handle and all 3 has the same markings on them: Amur E.P.N.S. I never cleaned the silver, it's just the way it came out of the estate. Silver needs to be cleaned. The gold shows some wear. It is in excellent condition with no chips or cracks. Very beautiful. Markings on the bottom consists of an E in a diamond. My Grams collected and received her biscuit/ cracker jars from my Grandpa as gifts while he was serving in WWII and after he came home. This particular jar was old when he purchased it. It is from the late 1800's or very early 1900's. I will be listing several vintage items this weekend so keep checking back. The biscuit jars are all in good condition for their age. It is marked EPNS on the metal rim and also on the underside of the lid. Beautiful handpainted dark and light pink rose and green shamrocks adorn this piece all around. It measures approx. 5 1/2"T w/o lid x 6" W at the barrel part of the jar. I am not sure what the metal on the handle and lid are. It almost looks like brass. Antique Vintage English Biscuit Jar/Cracker Barrel Hand Painted Artist Signed
A beautiful antique/vintage hand painted artist signed ceramic and metal(the metal looks to me like silver plate) English biscuit jar or perhaps a cracker barrel with gorgeous floral designs and wonderful colors! The piece measures to be about 7" tall( about 9" with handle up) x about 7" wide x about 7" deep. I am not an expert. But I believe the piece dates from the late Victorian era or Edwardian era, but it is possible for the piece to be a bit later. Please note this piece is being sold for decorative and/or collection purposes and is not intended to be used to actually store or serve food from. I could not find any mark identifying the maker of the jar itself and I could not make out the artists signature. However there is a mark on the lid which says"B.H.A. MANUFACTURED IN ENGLAND" I did some on line research ... moreand found there was a notable English silver smith by the name of Barnett Henry Abrahams. Which used the initials BHA, and which apparently made lids for some of Wedgwood's biscuit jars. I do not think this biscuit jar was made by Wedgwood and the mark used by Barnett Henry Abraham had rectangles around the B, the H and the A, instead of periods after each letter, like the mark on our lid. But I think there is still a good possibility that Barnett Henry Abrahams, which operated in the same period I believe this jar was made, might have been the producer of our lid. Though the exact pedigree of this biscuit jar is not clear. What is clear is that it is an exceptionally beautiful piece and it is in very good antique/vintage condition! Like all items of significant age and use, it does have some minor faults including: craquelure and small surface cracks, chipping, rubbing, discoloration including some stray paint marks, paint loss, scratches, discoloration and tarnish. Approx. dating is 1910 from what I found. The Top and rim is EPSN which is electric plate over nickel silver which is stamp into the rim and on the top is N S of what I see. The jar shows great color and was done very well. As with an item of this age the photo's show the crackel but the jar looks great. The dimensions are 6"dia. x 7" with the handle approx. If you check out my last picture you will see both of my estate found antique oak-porcelain British Biscuit-Cookie Jars that are listed this week. However this listing is for the Lighter Oak jar on the left side with decorated with a silverplated shield on one side and a rectangle brass plaque on the otherside that reads~PRIZE Presented by George Hadfield& Co Fertilzer Works Liverpool. I believe this jar may have been made from slavaged wood from the Sheffield Cathedral. The solid striped oak barrel is accented with four silverplated rings, lid and handle, with a heavy porcelain insert that keeps the cookies-crackers or biscuits fresh while making a nice display on the breakfast table. Still in near perfect condition some minor wear to the plate on the lid and rings and handle can be polished much nicer.total weight 3 lbs.

Antique Biscuit Cracker Jar Barrel with Silver Lid and Handle
For is a very old unmarked biscuit/cracker barrel/jar. It is a very pretty white with hand-painted pink and blue flowers with green leaves and raised white dots. Mostly on the sides of the jar between the floral paintings there are some scratches in the white color. But it was bought that way from the estate sale where I purchased it. There is a small(pencil eraser size) flake/chip in the jar on the front lower right rim of the jar. The metal top, handle, and rim are in good condition; there is one tiny dent on each side of the metal rim where the handle has been brought down. The jar measures 6 1/4" from table top to top rim jar and 9 3/4" from table top to top of handle. It measures about 5 1/2" at its widest. There is what looks like a scratch on the base of the jar, but it could be that the material folded slightly during ... morethe manufacturing process. You are viewing a W& W Co. antique biscuit jar/barrel. This has a very pretty rose. Grapes, fruit and floral pattern. Some feel like they were painted over the glaze. The RN No# is 247274 which dates it between 1915 and 1932. This piece looks to have a silver-plate rim and handle that needs to be shined up(I won't disturb the patina) The lid looks brass or also silver-plate and has a swan sitting on top. There is some dirt/dust but again I hesitate to clean. Measures 6" high to the rim and with opening about 3.5" There are some blemishes but overall this is in very good vintage condition. Please zoom on photos and read description. I do not see any flaws to the body of this gorgeous piece. There is a small chip underneath around the edge that it sits on. But it seems to be from when it was hand painted, as there is some of the red color like in the edge detail around this perimeter and in the chip. This is an estate sale find and was presented to me as a porcelain antique biscuit jar with a silver top. I'm pretty certain that it is silver plate. There is some discoloration to the silver, so please zoom. The spots on the silver appear green and I am not an expert, but I think perhaps it is silver plate on copper and the copper that came through greened. It looks as though someone possibly tested the under side of the lid for silver as there are scrapes in it, again that look copper and green. I cannot tell you the date. ... moreEra or any such information. All I can do is present you the stunning piece that it is and what I was told. I did try to research it and found that the raised dots in the painted finish are called moriage. Which is a Japanese technique. I cannot find a maker mark or in any other way tie it to Japan. Other than visually. I did clean it with soap and water, but if there is a better way to shine it up, that will be left to the buyer. Measurements are approximately 6 1/2" widest width x 10" tall to the top of the extended handle. With the jar being 5" of the height plus another 2 1/2" for the silver top and lid. Up for offer is an antique biscuit jar/ cracker barrel! Our family is from Mennonite background and has lived in Southwestern. Ontario– Canada, specifically Kitchener and Ingersoll, after immigrating to Canada from Pennsylvania in the 1760’s. Later relatives were avid antique enthusiasts and many collectables& antiques have been carefully stored and passed down. Antique English Imari Style Biscuit Barrel Ironstone 19th Century Cracker Jar
This is a unique and lovely English biscuit barrel done in Imari style and colors. It is made of ironstone and there is crazing. It is heavily gilded. With a good bit worn away(please see photos for details. This is a combination of transfer ware and hand painting. The cobalt blue is quite nice. The jar, including lid, stands 6 3/4 inches tall and is 6 inches at its widest. It is marked on the bottom, but we have not been able to identify the maker. This listing is for a"Summer Flowers" Biscuit/Cracker Jar we have from a private collection. This piece was purchased by our client back in the 1970's. It is a fancy mold Victorian Biscuit Jar completely original with its matching china lid. This is a large Jar that will hold quite a few tea biscuits. We believe it may be from the German RS Prussia Studio's. The barrel measures 5 3/4" tall by 8 3/4" wide at the handles. The finish is very good with a nice glaze& delicate brightly colored Roses. Mums, Daisey's. There are no chips cracks nor restoration as a whole. There is a little bit of surface wear, but it is near invisible. We mention it only to be consistant with the age of this porcelain. The glaze is very beautiful. There is a opalescent finish over the hand painting. Warriors& Horses Wedgwood Jasperware Biscuit Barrel/Cookie Jar Cobalt 1890-1910 Presented is a rather unusually decorated Wedgwood Jasperware biscuit barrel or cookie jar. In cobalt blue, with applied white high relief horses and warriors and decorative borders. The applied decorations are in VERY high relief. Unusually so. It is a very striking piece! A central motif of a man with a rearing horse is on one side, and two classical warriors on horseback are on the other side. Between the two is a laurel wreath motif with a torch, a bow and a quiver full of arrows on one side, and a similar laurel wreath motif with a lyre and flute or pipe on the other. Decorative borders of a grapevine surround the top and acanthus leaves surround the bottom. The biscuit barrel has silverplated mounts with a good handle which is decorated with a floral ... moregarland. The handle stays upright or folds down to be stowed. The removable lid has a simple acorn-shaped finial. Please scroll down to see our photographs. The biscuit barrel is impressed on the underside with“Wedgwood” and“England” It was made between 1890 and 1910. The mount is marked“EPNS” for silverplate. The biscuit barrel is in excellent condition. The silverplating is a little worn particularly on the inside of the handle and the mount where it joins with the pottery. The lid also has a little loss of plating to it. The applied high relief is very sharp and crisp in detail. More so than most! It is glazed stoneware with cobalt blue, and white, and Neo-Classical figures. The handle. Lid, and mounting are silverplate. The lid has the Impressed mark EPNS(Electro Plated Nickel Silver) The piece is in good condition. With no cracks, or repairs. There is a spot on the rim of the bottom that shows the cobalt color coming through and while it looks like a chip on the bottom it is glazed and the color of the rim is evident. Which leads me to believe the imperfection happened when the jar was made(check the picture) The lid and mounting show wear. Height of the barrel is 5” Diameter is 5” Height with the handle up is almost 9”
