A beautiful antique/vintage hand painted artist signed ceramic and metal(the metal looks to me like silver plate) English biscuit jar or perhaps a cracker barrel with gorgeous floral designs and wonderful colors! The piece measures to be about 7" tall( about 9" with handle up) x about 7" wide x about 7" deep. I am not an expert. But I believe the piece dates from the late Victorian era or Edwardian era, but it is possible for the piece to be a bit later. Please note this piece is being sold for decorative and/or collection purposes and is not intended to be used to actually store or serve food from. I could not find any mark identifying the maker of the jar itself and I could not make out the artists signature. However there is a mark on the lid which says"B.H.A. MANUFACTURED IN ENGLAND" I did some on line research ... moreand found there was a notable English silver smith by the name of Barnett Henry Abrahams. Which used the initials BHA, and which apparently made lids for some of Wedgwood's biscuit jars. I do not think this biscuit jar was made by Wedgwood and the mark used by Barnett Henry Abraham had rectangles around the B, the H and the A, instead of periods after each letter, like the mark on our lid. But I think there is still a good possibility that Barnett Henry Abrahams, which operated in the same period I believe this jar was made, might have been the producer of our lid. Though the exact pedigree of this biscuit jar is not clear. What is clear is that it is an exceptionally beautiful piece and it is in very good antique/vintage condition! Like all items of significant age and use, it does have some minor faults including: craquelure and small surface cracks, chipping, rubbing, discoloration including some stray paint marks, paint loss, scratches, discoloration and tarnish. Valley and ocean scene painted in cobalt blue against a Celadon glaze The piece is Striking in all respects. The artwork is beautiful with great details from willow trees. Mountain peaks, flying birds, pagodas and boats. There are 6 Asian characters signed at the top of one panel. The jar is in remarkable condition. Especially for its age. There are no chips or cracks or damage to the jar of the lid, which also is six sided and has a matching scene painted in cobalt. The top of the jar has a floral decoration. On top is a green celadon button finial. Then the top is enrobed with a silver mount that is absolutely stunning. Braided lines and two fantastic dragons opposite each other. The base of the lid is protected by the thick silver clawed lid. The porcelain is decorated with different scenes of two young men/ brothers or twins with martial arts and lion motifs. Well decorated on the scalloped and perfectly balanced edges. Beautiful hand painted flying storks. Mountains, and architectural traditional Chinese temples or homes adorn the sides of the base. When you open the top you are greeted by the two brothers and two birds painted on the inside with silver mounted teeth and braided ropes to secure and protect the piece all the way to the teethed thick silver base. Bottom contains the clear Kangxi period mark(1662-1722) Da Qing Kangxi Nian Zhi" ... moremark. Condition looks perfect with no cracks. Repairs or any issues to be found. The piece is so well-protected by the thick silver lining that even the base of this bowl/ jar is in excellent condition with no chips at all! Silver is unmarked but they typically weren't for this period. Feels like an important Imperial piece and is just stunningly beautiful in person. The photos do not do this item justice. Beautiful Jar. One of my personal favorites. Great Condition for how old it is. Girl and Roses. Some info I found about MZ Austria: MZ Austria is the wording on a mark used by Moritz Zdekauer on porcelains made at his works in Altrolau. Austria, from 1884 to 1909. Zdekauer's company exported pieces to American and Dutch colonies before it was bought by another company. The mark was changed to MZ Altrolau in 1909. When the firm was purchased by C.M. Hutschenreuther. The firm operated under the name Altrolau Porcelain Factories from 1909 to 1945. It was nationalized after World War II. The pieces were decorated with lavish floral patterns and overglaze gold decoration. Full sets of dishes were made as well as vases, toilet sets, and other wares.

Antique Royal Vienna Style Porcelain Jar With Lid And Paintings Signed Fr Stahl
On auction is a decorative jar with lid. It is green and white with raised details. Hand painted gold gilt designs and scenes. The romantic scenes, I believe, are transfers, both signed Fr. Stahl. The jar measures 7 1/4" tall to the top of the lid and 4 3/4" across the wide bottom. The painted hallmark on the bottom is a double"X" and"Austria" I could not find this maker. However, the artist is attributed to Royal Vienna in many places either as F. Stahl or Frank Stanl. This appears to be in excellent condition for it's age and use. There is some loss on the gold. Some scratches in the paintings and a chip inside the jar under the lid. Please view my photographs for more description. Rudely. My antique dealer is on a cruise and cannot authenticate this for me. Because of that, I've done too much research ... morein fear that this might be a copy. It passed the tests I've found. More important, is if it passes yours. Antique Hand Painted Floral Biscuit Jar-Signed by Artist C.H. Simmon. Measures 7 inches tall and 5 inches wide. Beautiful antique condition-no chips. Scratches, or cracks. This is GORGEOUS. Pictures do not do this justice. The colors are exquisite and I can't say enough about this piece. The intense forest green with the art almost being a blush of soft warm pastels and earth tones. The subtle wild rose blossoms jump out with brilliant artistic detail. This piece is not marked however a dealer recently told me they feel it is early Limoges with the colors and the gold accents. You will not be disappointed and I have not seen a prettier biscuit jar for your display.

Up for auction: A vintage/antique ginger jar/tea caddy that measures approx. 5 1/4" high and approx. 15 1/2" around. It is adorned with a lovely floral design and is signed. I believe the mark reads Arthur Woods. England and may be an early piece judging by the signature(mark) and comparing it with the marks on other Arthur Wood, England pieces. For Consideration: Very nice carved English Biscuit Barrel with wood floral designs surrounding a silver oval on either side. The top and bottom of the jar is encased in silver and a silver lid covers the porcelain liner. There are two vertical age cracks that do not mar the surface(or they may be just joining pieces due to the base being wood) The handle is silver as well as the scalloped design surrounding the top and bottom of the barrel. English silver marks are on the surrounding. Top scalloped design, ring. Silver has been left uncleaned. Very nice and unusual for the collector of special pieces.
