ANTIQUE LATE 19th C.ENGLISH LG.PORCELAIN BISCUIT JAR-"GAUDY WELSH" STYLE COLORS
This large biscuit jar is in lovely condition. With no damage or loss of design. I have not seen one with this design. It has a slight"Gaudy Welsh" look to it, but with that Victorian update! It measures 9" 22.8 cm) in height including the raised handle, 7 1/4" 18.4 cm) in height with the handle lowered and is 5 1/2" 14 cm) in diameter at the widest point. It has four alternating green diamond panels with a peach colored leaf and gold sprigging over the green color. There are 4 half sunflowers at the bottom and top of each green panel. There are four alternating angled panels of"Gaudy Welsh" style orange and blue flowers, with gold trim. The jar is not marked except with the pattern number#160. All the colors are hand-painted over the glaze and are in lovely condition with no areas of worn off paint. The ... moresilver top, rim and handle are not marked except inside the lid, where there is a#6 and beneath that S 7474. I assume it is EPNS(electroplated nickel silver) as most of these of this era were. The handle has the two sections that split at the top to hold an oval plate. The lid is incised with very detailed and well done ferns. There is a $1.00 charge for a new box within a larger new box and ample packing material to ensure safe delivery. You are bidding on a vintage Brown Glaze color Jar and Lid Cover, Jar is a red color clay on the outside bottom. And the lid is like a tan color on the inner underside where not glazed. The lid has a vent hole. The size 6" high X 5" at it's widest point in the middle. And the out side dia at the top is 4.375" And the outside dia of the cover is 3.5" There are a few chips around outside top of the jar. No cracks on this fine piece of art work. Here's a real porcelain beauty dating back to the 19th Century measures 3 1/4" dia x 1 5/8" ht. The lid is simply stunning with a heand etched Godess complete with hand painted robe and gold burnished trim. I tried to capture the gold detailing but it is much more impressive in person. The bottom is signed by the artist NH or HN. The is a very minor very light nick on the edge of the lid and four minor lines on the edge of the jars recessed edge. And that's really it. Beautifully decorated with deep color of purple pansies and white wisteria with green leaves. Lid is highly decorated with the same design. Approximate measurements for this piece is 5 1/2" x 6" No cracks.No repairs,some light crazing in inside of lid. This is a great piece for the years of use. On the bottom in gold paint is the numbers 1510. The bottom of jar is embossed with a wave design. This is a wonderful piece! The handles are in great condition.

This is a unique and lovely English biscuit barrel done in Imari style and colors. It is made of ironstone and there is crazing. It is heavily gilded. Tea jar or sugar bowl marked Pekin decorated with smokers in garden. Produced by Beech& Hancock. Tunstall, Stoke-On-Kent, England. While some web listings of this pattern cite dates from 1890 to 1909, thepotteries.org, a local history page for Stoke-On-Kent, lists Beech& Hancock's years of operation as 1857(1860 according to Jewitt) to 1876. In remarkably good condition for an item over 135 years old. Production used transfers which B&H then hand colored. The lid has two significant chips. One is about 1/4 inch square and the other is about 1/2 inch long at the lid edge by about 1/4 inch deep. Overall. The pot is otherwise in good condition with some wear of the decoration and there are fleabites in the glaze, the handles show the glaze dripped during firing. There are some smudges, marks and crazing- all preserved for you ... moreas possibly desirable patina. The hairline crack in the bottom of the jar goes through to the interior. The jar is about 3 3/4 inches tall to the rim. About 4 inches to the top of the lid. The base is about 3 1/4 inches in diameter and the lid is about 3 inches in diameter. Preserve Jar would make a Great Addition to any Redware/ Stoneware Collection. Size: 4 3/8" High- 3 1/2" Across Condition: Good- There is a very tight hairline that runs from the top of the rim for about 1" down the side. Because of the darkness of the glaze. I was only able to find it with a high powered loupe. There are a few chips in that same area, and throughout the body of the jar. Some appear to be raised areas of Redware that didn't fully glaze in the making and some are nips. There is scratching that would be expected throughout. The jar has a rim chip on the top edge and a smaller on inside of the bottom rim~neither are visible when on display. The lid looks very good but does have writing, A56" inside and darkening in the unglazed area.I didn't try to remove the writing. The ginger jar and lid have some partial crazing and glaze pops. Here is an absolutely fabulous find when it comes to antique Chinese porcelain. This delightful large 11 inch tall tobacco jar has a delightful butterfly. Snail and floral design and is in very nice condition as described above and well documented in my pictures from all sides. I believe this to be a late nineteenth century work, though someone more knowledgeable may recognize this piece to be older. I am including the nicely carved wood stand and the wooden lid, both also made in China but later in the early to mid-twentieth century I believe and then"married" to this old jar later, before I purchased it. This ginger jar stands 11 inches tall and measures about 9 inches across it's widest, most bulbous point. The base rim of the jar measures a 5 1/2 inch diameter and when in use, the stand and lid add about another inch and ... morea half to the height needed to display the jar. Pair 19th C Covered Jar Box Porcelain Antique Faience 2 1870-1900
This is a pair of sweet and beautifully matched. Hand painted, small covered jars made in France. The conjoined VP maker's mark hints that they were made 1748-1803 by Veuve Perrin, but more likely, they were copies created in the last quarter of the 1800's by the Paris, France House of Samson. Edmé Samson made many excellent copies of famous maker's porcelain wares: Meissen, French Faience, Sèvres, Chelsea, etc. He openly reproduced choice museum and private collection pieces, under the caveat of marking them to distinguish them from the originals. This last step did not always occur. The pieces his artisans put out were copied so well they have become collected in their own right. These matched French jars are 1.75" tall and have all hand painted foliage wreath decoration on the lids. And swags& florals around ... morethe exterior of the jar. The foot ring on each jar is unglazed and shows signs of age. There is very minor pitting on the surfaces of each, common to the age. No crazing on these. Color is beautifully vibrant as pictured. The jar measures 2" high x 1 1/2" wide at the widest point. With a 1" diameter base. The clay is the color of redware; the unglazed finish is a nice warm brown. It is in good condition overall, with no major chips or cracks. There is some wear to the base, as expected for its age. It's just a neat little stoneware jar, with a pleasing form and a nice patina. Fine 19th Century Antique Chinese Porcelain Ginger Jar! This wonderful antique Chinese porcelain ginger jar has a nice form and is decorated with red and green designs around the body and lid. It comes with a later period carved wooden stand. It dates from the 19th Century and measures approximately 8 + ½ inches tall by 5 + ¼ inches across the shoulder. It is in excellent condition with the exception of a repaired chip along the side of the rim and a hairline in the cover. As can be seen in the photos. WE USE DAYLIGHT BULBS WHEN PHOTOGRAPHING.
