There are loose black threads throughout, used to sew the rags into strips for weaving. There are less on the side that seems to have been up; likely the threads came off through use. But the rug shows little use- looks wonderful! This rug came out of a VERY dusty old attic, and really needs cleaning. That attic held many other long-forgotten antique hooked and rag rugs. Early to Mid 19th Century Famille Noire Baluster
Before I placed the auction price on this Famille Noire piece. I got a fair market price from Bonham and Butterfields in S.F. through email. It is far above my starting price for this piece. It was estimated to be made in the early to half part of the 19th century. There is no lid for this baluster and the only flaws are two very small hairlines inside the rim, one on each side in which I have taken a pic for you to see. They are both about the same size(1" or so) Cannot be seen while displayed. I have left this piece in the same condition I found it not washing the inside nor the outside. Up for auction is 19TH CENTURY Lithophane in a floral cast iron frame and base. The frame and base is encrusted with flowers with some handpainting. This piece is not only breathtaking but perfect condition. The lithophane shows a lady and child in the countryside with a lamb following behind. The image has great detail and is signed by the german maker PPM#23.It was made in porcelain by Prensaich Porzellan manufacture probably in the mid century. The casting has a swinging candleholder to illuminate the image. Mid 19th Century Chinoiserie English Biscuit Jar Copeland & Garrett?
Superb Mid 19th Century English Chinoiserie Biscuit Jar. This lovely blue and white decorated biscuit jar features a Dragon. Persimmons, a Crane in flight and Peony's. It measures 4 and 3/4 inches across and stands 5 and 1/4 inches tall, including the handle. I have tried to show the highly embossed border around the edge of the rim in the photos. The metal is all silverplate and in very good condition. The top of the handle is adorned with a silver ball and the lid is topped with an ornate silver finial. The hallmark looks similar to those from Copeland& Garrett, circa 1833-1847, but it may be from another pottery factory from the Stoke-on-Kent area of England. If you have any information about the hallmark, feel free to contact me and share your knowledge about it. Beautifully decorated with deep color of purple pansies and white wisteria with green leaves. Lid is highly decorated with the same design. Approximate measurements for this piece is 5 1/2" x 6" No cracks.No repairs,some light crazing in inside of lid. This is a great piece for the years of use. On the bottom in gold paint is the numbers 1510. The bottom of jar is embossed with a wave design. This is a wonderful piece! The handles are in great condition.

Brilliantly colored blue. Gold and white hand-painted porcelain Biscuit Jar is decorated with a beautiful flower, scroll and polka-dot(Asian? pattern. The Jar is 6” high with a 4.5” inch diameter. The silver-plated lid has a smooth finish with an obelisk-style handle on top. The jar fits into a delicate silver-plated holder, which has a smooth finish on the base and a beautiful double handle embellished with a small silver ball on top of the handle. Tea jar or sugar bowl marked Pekin decorated with smokers in garden. Produced by Beech& Hancock. Tunstall, Stoke-On-Kent, England. While some web listings of this patter cite dates from 1890 to 1909, thepotteries.org, a local history page for Stoke-On-Kent list Beech& Hancock's years of operation as 1857(1860 according to Jewitt) to 1876. In remarkably good condition for an item over 135 years old. Production used transfers which B&H then hand colored. The lid has two significant chips. One is about 1/4 inch square and the other is about 1/2 inch long at the lid edge by about 1/4 inch deep. Overall. The pot is otherwise in good condition with some wear of the decoration and there are fleabites in the glaze, the handles show the glaze dripped during firing. There are some smudges, marks and crazing- all preserved for you as ... morepossibly desirable patina. The hairline crack in the bottom of the jar goes through to the interior. Up for auction is this antique and beautiful Chinese blue and white ginger jar with lid. I was told it dates to the late 19th century. Overall. In very nice, yet antique condition. The jar has a rim chip on the top edge and a smaller on inside of the bottom rim~neither are visible when on display. The lid looks very good but does have writing, A56" inside and darkening in the unglazed area.I didn't try to remove the writing. The ginger jar and lid have some partial crazing and glaze pops. It measures about 19" tall x 10 1/2" at the widest point. The base is 8 5/8" wide. Substantial and heavy. Weighs about 12 pounds. Happy bidding. Ps Free local pickup! Up for bid is this very nice antique porcelain jar that appears to be a ginger jar. I believe this piece dates to the 19th century but I am not sure if it is Asian. It has a very nice painted floral decoration with butterflies. The condition is excellent with no chips or cracks. It does need a cleaning but I will leave that for the winning bidder. 11" T ANTIQUE 19TH CENTURY CHINESE EXPORT PORCELAIN BLUE BUTTERFLY TOBACCO JAR
Here is an absolutely fabulous find when it comes to antique Chinese porcelain. This delightful large 11 inch tall tobacco jar has a delightful butterfly. Snail and floral design and is in very nice condition as described above and well documented in my pictures from all sides. I believe this to be a late nineteenth century work, though someone more knowledgeable may recognize this piece to be older. I am including the nicely carved wood stand and the wooden lid, both also made in China but later in the early to mid-twentieth century I believe and then"married" to this old jar later, before I purchased it. This ginger jar stands 11 inches tall and measures about 9 inches across it's widest, most bulbous point. The base rim of the jar measures a 5 1/2 inch diameter and when in use, the stand and lid add about another inch and ... morea half to the height needed to display the jar. This tiny. Miniature earthenware unglazed stoneware jar is antique 19th century. Jars of this size could have been used for many purposes, including medicine, spices, etc. The tiny cork may or may not be original, but it fits perfectly. The jar measures 2" high x 1 1/2" wide at the widest point. With a 1" diameter base. The clay is the color of redware; the unglazed finish is a nice warm brown. It is in good condition overall, with no major chips or cracks. There is some wear to the base, as expected for its age. It's just a neat little stoneware jar, with a pleasing form and a nice patina. 19th. CENTURY WHITE IRONSTONE MASTER WASTE JAR SLOP POT
This is A Very Nice Large White Ironstone master waste jar or slop pot. Produced by the Anchor Pottery Co. of Trenton New Jersey. The under glaze stamp dates this to circa 1894. A nice example of American ironstone this piece measures 11 inches tall, 8 1/4" in diameter at the top opening and 6 7/8" at the base. The circumference is 31 inches around at the thickest park of the body. It is in nice condition with no chips or repairs. It does have a cross shaped stress crack on the bottom that does not go through to the inside, and there are stress cracks around the inside bottom that do not go to the outside along with some slight discoloration. This does not effect the integrity at all it still rings true. There is also very fine overall crazing typical of these items.
