The handles and the body are all Excellent. This lovely antique piece has been on display on my marble top victorian buffet for quite some time. Up for sale we have an extra fancy Gilded Nippon Covered Biscuit Jar. Or also called a Cracker Barrel. This porcelain piece is from the late 19th century and has lots of Victorian fanciful detail. It is marked on the bottom with the blue Nippon Mark. The china is a snow white and shows off the beautiful marron bands or color accented by the heavy gold enamel. The handles have much molded detail and are also accented with heavy gold. The Barrel measures 9" wide at the handles by 6" tall to the top of the elaborate finial handle. Antique German Biscuit or Cracker jar.measuring 7.5 inches from the bottom of jar to top of handle of lid. Diameter is about 6 inches at the widest. Label says"Dresden China" on the bottom. This wonderful cracker/biscuit jar is in very great shape. It was made by the* W A R* Stoke on Trent" and Carlton Ware. see picture) There is a RD No. 290283 and it also says"Peony" on the bottom. There is also a number etched in the bottom: 1681(see picture)The jar is yellow in color with hand painted pink and white flowers. The ceramic is beautifully preserved. The rim has the numbers- D8A8436. The lid has EPNS(Electro Plated Nickel Silver) in it. This antique Biscuit/Cracker Jar is beautifully crafted and shows little wear. There are no breaks. UM Antique Ornate Cracker Jar Biscuit Barrel Cobalt Gold Roses Nippon? Limoges?
We have been on a buying trip and we are listing new items as quickly as we can. We will be listing them daily as time permits. Th ese pieces are nice. You won't be disappointed. We are always happy to co mbine items. When possible, so buyers can save on the shipping costs. This is a cracker jar. Or biscuit barrel. Basically. It's what a cookie jar was before we had supersized meals. Don't think chocolate chip cook ies bigger than a dinner plate; think animal crackers. Usually we tell you who made an item(Nippon. Limoges, Austria, RS Prussia) But, this time, we just can't tell you exactly who made it. The painting looks like Nippon, and we can find tons of items painted like this in our Nippon books. Likewise, Limoges& Austrian items can be found with this shape, the"plume-looking" blown-out bottom and area around ... morethe lid. We have seen cups and chocolate pots with this design. Since Japanese potters of the Nippon era were trained in the European style and imitated the work of Limoges, RS Prussia/Austria and German pieces, this is just a stab in the dark for us.but we think lots of you collectors will know! The crac ker jar is white. And as mentioned above. The lower area of the jar has a blown out plume or acanthus leaf design. This design is repeated around the inner part of the lid. The handle on the lid, the rim areas of both the lid and jar have an irregular cobalt area. There are handpainted pink and purple roses with green foliage painted near the cobalt areas. The"plume-like" areas have smaller pink and purple flowers. There is gold! Oh yes, if you are one of our regular buyers, you know we love gold! Gold flourishes are painted over the cobalt areas. Gold outlines the leaves/plumes and outlines the areas where the blownout part of the mold begins. There are also gold flourishes in the white area of the jar. This thing is gorgeous! It is an antique biscuit jar with metal lid which is tarnishing but a magnet does not stick to it. It does not smell like silverplate. It is marked 8103 with an x under it and also etched lightly in lid is m2775 yu/ne/ The bottom is marked in flow blue color on the bottom but cant make out the design or maker. The porcelain or ceramic has gorgeous blue flowers and some gold flecks in the painting and has crazing all over but not the coffee stain ugly kind.more like the I'm old so don't hate me kind; In picture 4 the sticker residue came off after pictures sorry. Didn't see it before pictures. It stands with handle down not up about 7 inches and is about 5 1/2 to 6 inches wide, it's round so ... morehard to measure. No breaks in porcelain, around the silver lip inside the jar it may be a stress line or just more crazing, not an expert. Back and lid with lovely cream and coral colored large roses accented with lovely green foilage surround the jar. The rim is scalloped as well as the lid and it fits on and inner twines with the base. The jar stands approx. 7" high with the lid in place, and, measures approx. 7 1/2" in diameter at the center of the jar. Antique Vintage English Biscuit Jar/Cracker Barrel Hand Painted Artist Signed
A beautiful antique/vintage hand painted artist signed ceramic and metal(the metal looks to me like silver plate) English biscuit jar or perhaps a cracker barrel with gorgeous floral designs and wonderful colors! The piece measures to be about 7" tall( about 9" with handle up) x about 7" wide x about 7" deep. I am not an expert. But I believe the piece dates from the late Victorian era or Edwardian era, but it is possible for the piece to be a bit later. Please note this piece is being sold for decorative and/or collection purposes and is not intended to be used to actually store or serve food from. I could not find any mark identifying the maker of the jar itself and I could not make out the artists signature. However there is a mark on the lid which says"B.H.A. MANUFACTURED IN ENGLAND" I did some on line research ... moreand found there was a notable English silver smith by the name of Barnett Henry Abrahams. Which used the initials BHA, and which apparently made lids for some of Wedgwood's biscuit jars. I do not think this biscuit jar was made by Wedgwood and the mark used by Barnett Henry Abraham had rectangles around the B, the H and the A, instead of periods after each letter, like the mark on our lid. But I think there is still a good possibility that Barnett Henry Abrahams, which operated in the same period I believe this jar was made, might have been the producer of our lid. Though the exact pedigree of this biscuit jar is not clear. What is clear is that it is an exceptionally beautiful piece and it is in very good antique/vintage condition! Like all items of significant age and use, it does have some minor faults including: craquelure and small surface cracks, chipping, rubbing, discoloration including some stray paint marks, paint loss, scratches, discoloration and tarnish. Antique Cracker Jar. Cracker Barrel, Cracker Container or Biscuit Jar. N C C Japan Jar. It is browns and cobalt blue, 8" tall with lid and 5" across bottom. The lid looks like an acorn mushroom like knob. The top and bottom borders have dragon like figures and the center panel has different variations of shields and lions in different colors on cobalt blue background and there are five beaded rows between the borders. The bottom of the Jar has darkened from age and has some crazing and there is some paint worn off due to age and a tiny nick on inside of lid. ANTIQUE VICTORIAN COBALT BLUE ENAMELED BISCUIT/CRACKER JAR
Up for auction is this Antique Victorian Cobalt Blue Biscuit/Cracker jar with beautiful enameled floral decorations. Gold band and gold leaves around the entire circumference of the jar. It measures 10 1/2" tall to the top of the handle, 8 1/2" tall to the top of the finial and 5 1/2" wide. It is in excellent condition with no chips, flakes, bites, nicks or cracks. The enameling is in great shape with very little loss to the gold band. The silver plate is in excellent condition. There are 2 small indentations in the top inside portion of the silver plated collar.

Nippon pre 1921 Nippon Hand Painted Covered Biscuit Cracker Bowl Jar Godl Gilt
A beautifully kept pre-1921 Nippon Japanese covered bowl or"cracker bowl" It is an old piece and by law the stamp of Nippon changed to Japan in 1921. The base measures about 6" diameter but with the handles it measures about 9.5-10" overall. The background or base color is white with a cream or pale yellow that accents the side handles as well as the lid handle. As shown the decorative sides are a bit different. Gold"beading" accents on the lid and bowl. Such a nice piece for serving or decoration as well as a collector's piece. This piece was made and decorated at the kilns and studios of Jean Pouyat in Limoges France during the late 19th century and is decorated in the Victorian taste of the time it was created. This piece is made of very high grade French Limoges porcelain and has been cast into a lovely mold design with branch like handles and knob finial all in gold gilt. The central decorative theme of the piece is roses on garlands that have been beautifully hand painted on cover and base. This is an amazing find and will look incredible in your favorite cabinet or at table. Item dimensions and dating: All measurements are approximate. This piece measures 6" tall to top of finial with cover in place and 8.5" accross handles. This piece dates from the late ... more19th century by the marks and decorative elements. Some of the areas on the rim, handle and lid appears to be have been silver plate,but is tarnished or worn down over the years to the brass below it. Up for sale is this gorgeous biscuit/cracker jar! I believe it is hand painted? in a lovely rose design of pinks and reds on a green background. Jar is unfortunately not marked. Jar is in perfect condition.rim feels rough but no chips or flea bites and measures 5&1/4th" tall X 5" wide at base.7" tall with lid. Antique Victorian Cranberry Biscuit or Cracker Jar with White Threading in Glass
Up for auction is this beautiful cranberry biscuit/cracker jar with white threading throughout the glass. The glass is in very good condition with just a few tiny flea bites at the top of the glass. The jar stands 6" tall without the lid and 7 1/2" tall with the lid. The silverplated lid is in perfect condition with no loss to the silverplate. The lid has a decorative finial at the top of the lid.

Franziska Hirsch Early Mark Porcelain Cracker Biscuit Jar Blue Red Imari Style
Wonderful Franziska Hirsch biscuit jar up for auction. Franziska Hirsch first started a studio in 1894 in Saxony. Struwestrasse 19. Hirsch would buy unfinished porcelain and decorate them and resell. The mark choosen, blue crossed marks with an H, closely resembles the Meissen mark. In 1896 Meissen filed a complaint against imitation of their patented mark and Hirsch was forbid to use it. Hirsch then went with the winged H mark. So this closely dates this piece to 1894-1896. The glaze is in a Imari style with dark blue patches with a floral design in red and bordered in gold. Unfortunately a lot of the gold is worn away. The metal top has a beehive like pattern. It was once silver plated, but now gone, just leaving the base metal. Underneath one hinge is a stamp"D.J.A.G. 2079" I cannot find anything on this mark from my research. ... moreThe lid fits very very snug, hard to get in between the hinges. I see a tiny indent on the rim of the band on top of the jar. The inside on the rim of the lid has two dents. The porcelain has one tiny chip on the inside rim on the bottom. NO cracks or stains. It measures 8 3/4" T at the handle raised, 7 1/2" T to the finial, 5 3/4" T to the rim, 5 1/2" W. Please e-mail for more pictures or questions.

The item you are bidding on is for a great Art Nouveau English Biscuit Jar/ Barrel/ Cracker Jar. The maker is Crown Devon S.F. Co. Stoke on Trent which is on the bottom of the jar. Approx. dating is 1910 from what I found. The Top and rim is EPSN which is electric plate over nickel silver which is stamp into the rim and on the top is N S of what I see. The jar shows great color and was done very well. As with an item of this age the photo's show the crackel but the jar looks great. The dimensions are 6"dia. x 7" with the handle approx. Antique 1905 Oak Porcelain Biscuit-Cracker-Cookie Jar~Cathedral Oak Tree
If you check out my last picture you will see both of my estate found antique oak-porcelain British Biscuit-Cookie Jars that are listed this week. However this listing is for the Dark Oak jar on the right with the etched silveplated plaque that reads~Sheffield Cathedral Oak 13th~14th Century. I believe this jar may have been made from slavaged wood from the Sheffield Cathedral. The unique oak barrel has two chipped carved rings around the body of the barrel with a silverplated lid and handle. The heavy porcelain insert keeps the cookies-crackers or biscuits fresh while making a nice display on the breakfast table. The jar is still in excellent condition, there are three old vertical shrinkage lines on the body of the old oak, but the barrel is still sturdy& solid. Antique Biscuit Cracker Jar Barrel with Silver Lid and Handle
For is a very old unmarked biscuit/cracker barrel/jar. It is a very pretty white with hand-painted pink and blue flowers with green leaves and raised white dots. Mostly on the sides of the jar between the floral paintings there are some scratches in the white color. But it was bought that way from the estate sale where I purchased it. There is a small(pencil eraser size) flake/chip in the jar on the front lower right rim of the jar. The metal top, handle, and rim are in good condition; there is one tiny dent on each side of the metal rim where the handle has been brought down. The jar measures 6 1/4" from table top to top rim jar and 9 3/4" from table top to top of handle. It measures about 5 1/2" at its widest. There is what looks like a scratch on the base of the jar, but it could be that the material folded slightly during ... morethe manufacturing process. This listing is for one of the last Biscuit/Cracker Jars we have from a private collection. This piece was purchased by our client back in the 1970's. It is a pristine Victorian Biscuit Jar completely original with its matching china lid. This is a good size piece of porcelain. We believe it is from the German area and the style is of the RS Prussia high quality porcelain. The barrel measures 6" tall by 8 1/2" wide at the handles. The finish is very good with a nice glaze& delicate brightly colored Roses. Mums, Daisey's. There are no chips cracks nor restoration.
