In our view second half 1800's. The bowl is about 4 1/4 inches in diameter. About 153 grams. The bowl has a hairline and associated small chip as shown- the lid is fine. NOTE. Pictures taken in sun and shade- please look at all the pictures below. Mrs. Mary Morrison. Was a collector, former museum curator and lecturer on Asian art at the University of British Columbia, Canada. She also played an important role in creating the Canadian Society for Asian Arts which got its start in Vancouver in 1968. Over her lifetime, she collected a fabulous collection of Chinese antiques, mostly snuff bottles, and porcelain. Most of her pieces were collected between the 1940's- 70's in England and North America. We were lucky enough to purchase some of the nicer pieces which we are offering on ebay. All the items are completely authentic. Authenticated by Ms. Morrison, and also vetted by ourselves. This is a rare opportunity to buy pieces collected over a lifetime, and kept until death, by an expert on Chinese porcelain. The last picture shows other items from this collection we are listing on ebay today. I combine items whenever possible. Antique Chinese Ginger Jar & Lid with Blue & White Floral Design Qing Dynasty
Up for bids is a super antique Chinese ceramic glazed ginger pot. There is no writing or maker's mark. The pot possibly dates around the early part of the 1900's so could be Qing Dynasty. There are two light blue circles on the base. The pot is finished in dark blue and white with a cherry blossom design and it still has the original lid. The lid just fits loosely on top as there would have been a piece of fabric between the pot and the lid. The pot has a manufacturing crease mark at the top near the entrance which I have shown in the pictures- this is on the surface only and does not go right through and does not detract from the pot. There are no chips or cracks. The pot is approximately 5" high including the lid by approx. 5" in width. I have explained this item to the best of my ability. Beautiful. Large, covered jar that we found at an estate sale in San Diego. The ceramic is off-white and the colors in the design are shades of blue. The hand painted art work is of ready to harvest heads of bok choy(Chinese cabbage) The finial at the top of the lid is a lying down. Full figure of a pug or foo dog. There are four heads of foo dogs near the top edge with holes behind their heads through which a cord, rope or ribbon could be laced. The jar by itself stands 15" tall, to the top of the lid is 19" approximately 11" wide, weighs 16 1/2 pounds. There is no makers mark or signature and I don't know the age or era. Condition: Has some crazing. There are brown marks/dirt on all of the unglazed parts(top and bottom edges. Inside the lid, behind the dog heads) No nicks, no chips, no cracks. These are very similar in shape. Design and size yet one is about a pound heavier than the other Beautiful Blue& White can transition to any type of design in my opinion. Overall in lovely condition except for any natural imperfections and a few nicks inside one lid. The texture is bumpy and there are a lot of like pin dots in the porcelain mostly on the lids. They have a nice shine except for the tops of each jar and part of the bottoms. They seem to be hand painted. The bottoms have a double circle and not other markings. Both are 9 inches tall.
