This large biscuit jar is in lovely condition. With no damage or loss of design. I have not seen one with this design. It has a slight"Gaudy Welsh" look to it, but with that Victorian update! It measures 9" 22.8 cm) in height including the raised handle, 7 1/4" 18.4 cm) in height with the handle lowered and is 5 1/2" 14 cm) in diameter at the widest point. It has four alternating green diamond panels with a peach colored leaf and gold sprigging over the green color. There are 4 half sunflowers at the bottom and top of each green panel. There are four alternating angled panels of"Gaudy Welsh" style orange and blue flowers, with gold trim. The jar is not marked except with the pattern number#160. All the colors are hand-painted over the glaze and are in lovely condition with no areas of worn off paint. The ... moresilver top, rim and handle are not marked except inside the lid, where there is a#6 and beneath that S 7474. I assume it is EPNS(electroplated nickel silver) as most of these of this era were. The handle has the two sections that split at the top to hold an oval plate. It was marked Bristol English Ware. This one is also marked"Bristol English Ware" but is very difficult to read. The lid is marked"N.S. Nickel Silver. Mid 19th Century Chinoiserie English Biscuit Jar Copeland & Garrett?
Superb Mid 19th Century English Chinoiserie Biscuit Jar. This lovely blue and white decorated biscuit jar features a Dragon. Persimmons, a Crane in flight and Peony's. It measures 4 and 3/4 inches across and stands 5 and 1/4 inches tall, including the handle. I have tried to show the highly embossed border around the edge of the rim in the photos. The metal is all silverplate and in very good condition. The top of the handle is adorned with a silver ball and the lid is topped with an ornate silver finial. The hallmark looks similar to those from Copeland& Garrett, circa 1833-1847, but it may be from another pottery factory from the Stoke-on-Kent area of England. Antique Vintage English Biscuit Jar/Cracker Barrel Hand Painted Artist Signed
A beautiful antique/vintage hand painted artist signed ceramic and metal(the metal looks to me like silver plate) English biscuit jar or perhaps a cracker barrel with gorgeous floral designs and wonderful colors! The piece measures to be about 7" tall( about 9" with handle up) x about 7" wide x about 7" deep. I am not an expert. But I believe the piece dates from the late Victorian era or Edwardian era, but it is possible for the piece to be a bit later. Please note this piece is being sold for decorative and/or collection purposes and is not intended to be used to actually store or serve food from. I could not find any mark identifying the maker of the jar itself and I could not make out the artists signature. However there is a mark on the lid which says"B.H.A. MANUFACTURED IN ENGLAND" I did some on line research ... moreand found there was a notable English silver smith by the name of Barnett Henry Abrahams. Which used the initials BHA, and which apparently made lids for some of Wedgwood's biscuit jars. I do not think this biscuit jar was made by Wedgwood and the mark used by Barnett Henry Abraham had rectangles around the B, the H and the A, instead of periods after each letter, like the mark on our lid. But I think there is still a good possibility that Barnett Henry Abrahams, which operated in the same period I believe this jar was made, might have been the producer of our lid. Though the exact pedigree of this biscuit jar is not clear. What is clear is that it is an exceptionally beautiful piece and it is in very good antique/vintage condition! Like all items of significant age and use, it does have some minor faults including: craquelure and small surface cracks, chipping, rubbing, discoloration including some stray paint marks, paint loss, scratches, discoloration and tarnish. As from 1842 to 1883, the British Patent Office issued registration numbers inside of a diamond so that the public could be assured of quality and a true British design. This is a unique and lovely English biscuit barrel done in Imari style and colors. It is made of ironstone and there is crazing. It is heavily gilded. With a good bit worn away(please see photos for details. This is a combination of transfer ware and hand painting. The cobalt blue is quite nice. The jar, including lid, stands 6 3/4 inches tall and is 6 inches at its widest. It is marked on the bottom, but we have not been able to identify the maker. A charming English Biscuit Jar that looks like it is right out of a Miss Marple story. The design is reminiscent of Royal Albert Old Country Roses. But bears no hallmark. Made of china. This little gem is embossed with flourishes around the top and bottom rim, and around the lid. Rose clusters of pink, burgundy, yellow and gold grace the sides and a pink/burgundy rose is on the lid. Here we have a beautiful antique silver plate banded solid oak biscuit barrel. It is in excellent vintage condition with the expected minor separation of the barrel stays. Note the detailed finial of the lid. The cannister is porcelain lined with the porcelain showing some crazing but no cracks or chips. The metal shows some very minor brassing but the piece displays very well and is ready for use. It measures about 9 1/2 inches high including the bale handle. The tea pot measures approximately 7-1/2 inches from handle to handle. Is 4-3/4 inches wide and stands approximately 6-1/2 inches high. This dainty piece has a crack on the corner(see picture) the mouth is pretty chewed up and there is a hairline crack on the bottom. The only chips are around the mouth. Approximately 6 1/8ths inches tall and 6 inch diameter old oak biscuit jar in tired oak with applied oak beading at the bottom. It has an even split as pictured. The bottom of the lid is marked E.P.N.S. and the rim has some dents. There is a vibrant flow blue porcelain liner inside. The jar. It is in good usable condition and the split could be filled with a strip of oak by a handy woodworker.

Seaweed and starfish in raised gold. The collar, handle and lid are silverplate by R. Favel, Elliot& Co. in Sheffield between 1884 and 1891. The jar is about 6" tall to the top of the lid(not including the handle) and about 5-3/4" in diameter. The jar has no damage. It has a partially obscured mark with a few letters and numbers remaining and what might be a partial impressed mark just at the base ring, but indistinct. This is probably a Doulton jar. Gorgeous floral themed majolica cracker or biscuit jar from the Victorian era with a signed electroplated(silverplate) rim. Handle and lid assembly from Daniel& Arter, silversmiths.perhaps best known for their flatware under the name of Nevada Star. The firm was established in Birmingham in the late 19th century(their first known sterling silver hallmark was entered in Birmingham Assay Office in 1882) Well signed on both lid and rim, it is in fine condition with some expected age, storage and usage patina as you can see in our posted photos. Etched wheat lid images are still quite excellent. Both lid and rim show a matching number of H5989, as well as the D& A signature and EPNS(plated) ... moredesignation. I am selling an early 1900's antique English Oak/Brass barrel shaped biscuit keeper. It has a ceramic liner with a metal lid. It is 7 inches tall by 6 inches in diameter. I have posted photos which show the only marking on this item: stamped in the metal rim at the top is a small logo with the letters EPNS.
