ANTIQUE LATE 19th C.ENGLISH LG.PORCELAIN BISCUIT JAR-"GAUDY WELSH" STYLE COLORS
This large biscuit jar is in lovely condition. With no damage or loss of design. I have not seen one with this design. It has a slight"Gaudy Welsh" look to it, but with that Victorian update! It measures 9" 22.8 cm) in height including the raised handle, 7 1/4" 18.4 cm) in height with the handle lowered and is 5 1/2" 14 cm) in diameter at the widest point. It has four alternating green diamond panels with a peach colored leaf and gold sprigging over the green color. There are 4 half sunflowers at the bottom and top of each green panel. There are four alternating angled panels of"Gaudy Welsh" style orange and blue flowers, with gold trim. The jar is not marked except with the pattern number#160. All the colors are hand-painted over the glaze and are in lovely condition with no areas of worn off paint. The ... moresilver top, rim and handle are not marked except inside the lid, where there is a#6 and beneath that S 7474. I assume it is EPNS(electroplated nickel silver) as most of these of this era were. The handle has the two sections that split at the top to hold an oval plate. The lid is incised with very detailed and well done ferns. There is a $1.00 charge for a new box within a larger new box and ample packing material to ensure safe delivery. It is marked on the bottom Three Crown China GERMANY. It is in excellent condition except for the one little nick on the inside rim. You don't notice it since it is on the underside mostly. The lid. The handles and the body are all Excellent. This lovely antique piece has been on display on my marble top victorian buffet for quite some time. It is in excellent condition- painting is vibrant and there are no chips. Cracks or repairs. Not sure what kind of flowers are on jar- if anyone knows, I'd appreciate hearing from you. There is no makers marks on the jar, which I believe is an indication of its age. In 1910 a law required makers marks on imports. So jar should date to before 1910. It looks like the lid contains initials of artist. Either"aag" or"aay"

Up for sale we have an extra fancy Gilded Nippon Covered Biscuit Jar. Or also called a Cracker Barrel. This porcelain piece is from the late 19th century and has lots of Victorian fanciful detail. It is marked on the bottom with the blue Nippon Mark. The china is a snow white and shows off the beautiful marron bands or color accented by the heavy gold enamel. The handles have much molded detail and are also accented with heavy gold. The Barrel measures 9" wide at the handles by 6" tall to the top of the elaborate finial handle. Up for bid is one antique. Art nouveau German Hutschenreuther porcelain china biscuit or cracker jar. Two handled jar measures approx. 10-1/4" wide-handle tip to handle tip. Height measures 5-1/4" to top of lid finial. Pink. Floral transfers on both sides of jar and lid. Color is green fading to an almost antique white. Edge of lid and jar rim trimmed in gold gilt. Handle tips and finial also have some gold detail. Bottom bears a green stamp that has a"JHR" or"JR" within a circle, Hutschenreuther Gelb" in script and"Bavaria" Condition is very good to excellent. This is a unique antique tobacco or biscuit jar.when you move the handle it opens& closes lid up& down. Lovely hand painted floral design with raised detailing on top and bottom. This is in good condition but does have quite a bit of crazing which would be expected due to age. No chips or cracks. Hinged lid works well with no problems. The metal on this piece is stamped EPNS(electroplate nickel silver) I see no crack's or chips. The is some spider marks under the glazing doesn't really stand out. It is an antique biscuit jar with metal lid which is tarnishing but a magnet does not stick to it. It does not smell like silverplate. It is marked 8103 with an x under it and also etched lightly in lid is m2775 yu/ne/ The bottom is marked in flow blue color on the bottom but cant make out the design or maker. The porcelain or ceramic has gorgeous blue flowers and some gold flecks in the painting and has crazing all over but not the coffee stain ugly kind.more like the I'm old so don't hate me kind; In picture 4 the sticker residue came off after pictures sorry. Didn't see it before pictures. It stands with handle down not up about 7 inches and is about 5 1/2 to 6 inches wide, it's round so ... morehard to measure. No breaks in porcelain, around the silver lip inside the jar it may be a stress line or just more crazing, not an expert. Gorgeous and really old biscuit jar with acanthus leaves embellishing that"windy" man's face with cobalt blue designs on each side of his head. This measures 6" wide at the widest near the bottom. 5-1/8" high from bottom to top of outer exposed porcelain and 5-3/4" high to top brass edge where lid rests. From the bottom to the top of the finial it measures 7" high and to the top of the brass handle measures 9-1/2" Please note the interior photographs. this is a tight, strong beautiful little piece with crazing at the bottom& at the upper inside edge a very fine fissure.

My Grams collected and received her biscuit/ cracker jars from my Grandpa as gifts while he was serving in WWII and after he came home. This particular jar was old when he purchased it. It is marked EPNS on the metal rim and also on the underside of the lid. Beautiful handpainted dark and light pink rose and green shamrocks adorn this piece all around. It is in excellent condition. There are no cracks. Chips, crazing or repairs. The inside is a shiny porcelain and the outside is done in a sand texture. The deep indigo blue flowers are heavily accented with gold, and there is a gold line edging the lower rim as well as small pin dots of gold filling in the lower edge of the combed upper edge of the barrell, The rim, handle and lid are silverplate and are in very good condition, as well. There is a tiny pit on one spot of the rim(see photo) From the top of the extended handle to the base the piece measures 9 1/2" and is 5 1/4" across. It weighs 1.5 lbs. Antique English Porcelain Homestead Biscuit Barrel Excellent Condition
Antique English biscuit barrel made of porcelain. The barrel has homestead design on both ends. The body has hand painted pine leaf branches in gold. The lid has a ribboned bow decorated in gold. There are two gold knobs on the sides. On the base of the barrel there is a number of 1877 and the letter M. I am not sure if that was the year made. Apart from losing some of the gold decorations around the bow. The knobs and the lid where it was touched a lot the barrel is in excellent condition. There is no chip or crack. Measurement: 14 cm x 14.5 cm x 13.5 cm'Most of my collection is one of a kind. I bought the items because I liked it for myself. They were never intended to be resold. Franziska Hirsch Early Mark Porcelain Cracker Biscuit Jar Blue Red Imari Style
Wonderful Franziska Hirsch biscuit jar up for auction. Franziska Hirsch first started a studio in 1894 in Saxony. Struwestrasse 19. Hirsch would buy unfinished porcelain and decorate them and resell. The mark choosen, blue crossed marks with an H, closely resembles the Meissen mark. In 1896 Meissen filed a complaint against imitation of their patented mark and Hirsch was forbid to use it. Hirsch then went with the winged H mark. So this closely dates this piece to 1894-1896. The glaze is in a Imari style with dark blue patches with a floral design in red and bordered in gold. Unfortunately a lot of the gold is worn away. The metal top has a beehive like pattern. It was once silver plated, but now gone, just leaving the base metal. Underneath one hinge is a stamp"D.J.A.G. 2079" I cannot find anything on this mark from my research. ... moreThe lid fits very very snug, hard to get in between the hinges. I see a tiny indent on the rim of the band on top of the jar. The inside on the rim of the lid has two dents. The porcelain has one tiny chip on the inside rim on the bottom. NO cracks or stains. Antique 1905 Oak Porcelain Biscuit-Cracker-Cookie Jar~Cathedral Oak Tree
If you check out my last picture you will see both of my estate found antique oak-porcelain British Biscuit-Cookie Jars that are listed this week. However this listing is for the Dark Oak jar on the right with the etched silveplated plaque that reads~Sheffield Cathedral Oak 13th~14th Century. I believe this jar may have been made from slavaged wood from the Sheffield Cathedral. The unique oak barrel has two chipped carved rings around the body of the barrel with a silverplated lid and handle. The heavy porcelain insert keeps the cookies-crackers or biscuits fresh while making a nice display on the breakfast table. The jar is still in excellent condition, there are three old vertical shrinkage lines on the body of the old oak, but the barrel is still sturdy& solid. Vintage Enamel Porcelain Biscuit Jar EPNS. Pretty cream colored with light tan and pink and yellow roses. It has a swing handle that is in fine working order and stays up right. The porcelain enamel is good with some light crazing in a few spots. Marked on bottom with letters no 5. The lid has a nice intricate etched detail on the outside with patina. And the finial is the screw type and is secure but the knob needs tightened and needs cleaned. The inside jar is free from any damage and the inside lid has scratches and wear. Lovely antique porcelain hand painted biscuit jar. This piece is not marked. But I am certain from the design, quality of porcelain, and overall look that it is German. The inset lid has eight"points" and a small knob at the top. There is gilt trim and a scalloped design. The main feature is the beautiful variety of flowers and colors. There are Pansies, Zinnias, and other flowers in coral, lavender, pink, gold, and white. The bottom is also scalloped. It measures 6 inches in height, 6 inches in diameter at the widest point, and 4 inches inches in diameter at the most narrow point. A lovely piece.
