English fox hunting scenes ... moreare depicted in a very detailed manner. With lots of movement– as the chase is on! Long, thin, rectangular shape- with a slightly unexpected tall height. The tin has a hinged lid and once contained biscuits from Scribbans Kemp. It dates to circa 1954. There is generalized patina on the tin for an antique look. The vintage wear and patina includes some small areas of wear. Some small scratches and scuffs, some handling marks and soiling, some small dents and dings, etc. Lid is a little more muted than base and has some noticeable soiling. Noticeable denting on front side and one end of base. Some sticky sticker residue on front side. A few more noticeable scratches here and there. Still fairly small. Much of inside is covered with dark patina. There is rust inside- around the interior crevice. And around the upper edges and around the lid, including at the hinge areas. Several reverse dings and some other normal wear on bottom. Hinges seem attached well enough and they move freely until they hit a kink when the lid is almost closed. So there is some wonkiness to the open/close situation. And a little coaxing is required. Again. Condition issues of note: NOTICEABLE DENTING ON FRONT SIDE OF BASE AND ON ONE END. Lid is more muted and has noticeable soiling. A few more noticeable small scratches here and there. Some sticky sticker residue on front side. Some rust inside– at crevice. Upper edges, around inside lid edge, at hinge area, etc. Some wonkiness to the hinges. Open/close requires some coaxing. Approximate size of tin is about 11.25” by 3.5” by about 4” tall. This large biscuit jar is in lovely condition. With no damage or loss of design. I have not seen one with this design. It has a slight"Gaudy Welsh" look to it, but with that Victorian update! All the colors are hand-painted over the glaze and are in lovely condition with no areas of worn off paint. I assume it is EPNS(electroplated nickel silver) as most of these of this era were. The handle has the two sections that split at the top to hold an oval plate. It has an under plate and lid, and all 3 pieces bear the same mark. The piece has a very cute square shape that you often see on chintz pieces, sort of a beveled square 8 sides, it also sports a darling little leaf handle. The jar is 6 inches tall and 4 3/4 X 4 3/4 inches square, the under plate measures 7 1/4 by 7 1/4 inches. Super cute ready for vanity or display cabinet. A beautiful antique/vintage hand painted artist signed ceramic and metal(the metal looks to me like silver plate) English biscuit jar or perhaps a cracker barrel with gorgeous floral designs and wonderful colors! The piece measures to be about 7" tall( about 9" with handle up) x about 7" wide x about 7" deep. I am not an expert. But I believe the piece dates from the late Victorian era or Edwardian era, but it is possible for the piece to be a bit later. Please note this piece is being sold for decorative and/or collection purposes and is not intended to be used to actually store or serve food from. I could not find any mark identifying the maker of the jar itself and I could not make out the artists signature. However there is a mark on the lid which says"B.H.A. MANUFACTURED IN ENGLAND" I did some on line research ... moreand found there was a notable English silver smith by the name of Barnett Henry Abrahams. Which used the initials BHA, and which apparently made lids for some of Wedgwood's biscuit jars. I do not think this biscuit jar was made by Wedgwood and the mark used by Barnett Henry Abraham had rectangles around the B, the H and the A, instead of periods after each letter, like the mark on our lid. But I think there is still a good possibility that Barnett Henry Abrahams, which operated in the same period I believe this jar was made, might have been the producer of our lid. Though the exact pedigree of this biscuit jar is not clear. What is clear is that it is an exceptionally beautiful piece and it is in very good antique/vintage condition! Like all items of significant age and use, it does have some minor faults including: craquelure and small surface cracks, chipping, rubbing, discoloration including some stray paint marks, paint loss, scratches, discoloration and tarnish. Antique English biscuit barrel made of porcelain. The barrel has homestead design on both ends. The body has hand painted pine leaf branches in gold. The lid has a ribboned bow decorated in gold. There are two gold knobs on the sides. On the base of the barrel there is a number of 1877 and the letter M. I am not sure if that was the year made. Apart from losing some of the gold decorations around the bow. The knobs and the lid where it was touched a lot the barrel is in excellent condition. There is no chip or crack. As from 1842 to 1883, the British Patent Office issued registration numbers inside of a diamond so that the public could be assured of quality and a true British design. Unfortunately, the mark is now mostly unreadable, and we cannot ascertain the date of registration. For sale is a vintage English oak biscuit barrel. The barrel is 9 1/2 inches tall with the handle extended and 18 inches around. The under plate of the lid and the handle is marked EPNS(electro-plate nickel silver) The inside is made of porcelain. And there is a shield like plaque on the wooden barrel that could be engraved. This biscuit barrel is in very good condition. The oak has no marks or scratches, and the inside porcelain has no cracks or imperfections. The silver plate is in excellent condition as well. This is a unique and lovely English biscuit barrel done in Imari style and colors. It is made of ironstone and there is crazing. It is heavily gilded. With a good bit worn away(please see photos for details. This is a combination of transfer ware and hand painting. The cobalt blue is quite nice. The jar, including lid, stands 6 3/4 inches tall and is 6 inches at its widest. It is marked on the bottom, but we have not been able to identify the maker. A charming English Biscuit Jar that looks like it is right out of a Miss Marple story. The design is reminiscent of Royal Albert Old Country Roses. But bears no hallmark. Made of china. This little gem is embossed with flourishes around the top and bottom rim, and around the lid. Rose clusters of pink, burgundy, yellow and gold grace the sides and a pink/burgundy rose is on the lid. English Oak Tea Caddy and Biscuit Barrel both have Ceramic liners that are not cracked just a little crazing with age. They both have metal lids, handles and lettering, the oak barrels do need a little TLC hence the low price for the two. They measure as follows: the Biscuit Barrel 6.1/2" to the top of the lid and 5.1/2" diameter of the widest part of the barrel, the Tea Caddy 5.1/2" to the top of the lid and 5" diameter of the widest part of the barrel.

Here we have a beautiful antique silver plate banded solid oak biscuit barrel. It is in excellent vintage condition with the expected minor separation of the barrel stays. Note the detailed finial of the lid. The cannister is porcelain lined with the porcelain showing some crazing but no cracks or chips. The metal shows some very minor brassing but the piece displays very well and is ready for use. It measures about 9 1/2 inches high including the bale handle. The tea pot measures approximately 7-1/2 inches from handle to handle. Is 4-3/4 inches wide and stands approximately 6-1/2 inches high. This dainty piece has a crack on the corner(see picture) the mouth is pretty chewed up and there is a hairline crack on the bottom. The only chips are around the mouth. For Consideration: Very nice carved English Biscuit Barrel with wood floral designs surrounding a silver oval on either side. The top and bottom of the jar is encased in silver and a silver lid covers the porcelain liner. There are two vertical age cracks that do not mar the surface(or they may be just joining pieces due to the base being wood) The handle is silver as well as the scalloped design surrounding the top and bottom of the barrel. English silver marks are on the surrounding. Top scalloped design, ring. Silver has been left uncleaned. Very nice and unusual for the collector of special pieces. Approximately 6 1/8ths inches tall and 6 inch diameter old oak biscuit jar in tired oak with applied oak beading at the bottom. It has an even split as pictured. The bottom of the lid is marked E.P.N.S. and the rim has some dents. There is a vibrant flow blue porcelain liner inside. The jar. It is in good usable condition and the split could be filled with a strip of oak by a handy woodworker.

Gorgeous floral themed majolica cracker or biscuit jar from the Victorian era with a signed electroplated(silverplate) rim. Handle and lid assembly from Daniel& Arter, silversmiths.perhaps best known for their flatware under the name of Nevada Star. The firm was established in Birmingham in the late 19th century(their first known sterling silver hallmark was entered in Birmingham Assay Office in 1882) Well signed on both lid and rim, it is in fine condition with some expected age, storage and usage patina as you can see in our posted photos. Etched wheat lid images are still quite excellent. Both lid and rim show a matching number of H5989, as well as the D& A signature and EPNS(plated) ... moredesignation. Our example is additionally numbered on the base bottom of the majolica jar with 4153 over 134 in hand script on the bottom. Beautiful cobalt blue background color enhances the hand painted Iris flower blossoms, leaves ad stems that surround the jar. Majolica shoulder leaf work is beautiful.
