This listing features a wonderful antique lidded jam or jelly jar. Silverplate rim is marked H& H with an Eagle. Each in a separate circle, for Hukin& Heath. Made in England late 1800's. A terrific combination of handpainted pottery, enamel wear, and silver figural lid and handle. Label on base from antique shop that went out of business. Jar itself measures 3-5/8" tall x 3-1/4" across; with handle up it measures 6" tall. Handpainted flowers have raised enamel on the flower petals and gold"shading" highlights all around the jar. I believe this Biscuit Jar is from the early turn of the century 1900s. Possibly a little older. I have seen one other of these on Ebay. It was traced back before 1920. It was marked Bristol English Ware. This one is also marked"Bristol English Ware" but is very difficult to read. The lid is marked"N.S. Nickel Silver. The barrel is marked at the bottom Measurements: 9" tall. Base is 6" in diameter. The condition of this jewel is in Excellent condition with no chips or cracks. The lid shows the customary glaze crazing for these older pieces and has two"fills" pics 5& 6) and a foot rim chip on the base which is unsighted when the jar is standing in it's normal position. The base section is slightly elongated. These taller bases were used to increase the amount of paste offered to the buyer. What a unique piece this is. Believed to be an old biscuit jar which was made for a store and chocolatier in Paris years ago. The best way to describe this piece is thinking of it as a puff jar due to the unique design. There are little round gold gilded buttons adorning this piece. As well as a rich thick layer of gold around the base. Bottom is marked in blue ink; Collection De La Marquise De Sevigne" along with more writing which is too old to read. STUNNING ANTIQUE VINTAGE HAND PAINTED& ARTIST SIGNED SCENIC PANELS COVERED CERAMIC HUMIDOR. Measures approx. 5& 1/2" high to top of lid& is approx. 6" in diameter. Sides of jar have four hand painted panels of mountains. Trees& lakes all being similar but different on a variegated green background. The panels are bordered with white enamel dots over gold& black. In between each panel is another panel of a cobalt blue animal on a red/rust background also bordered with enameled red rust dots. Beautiful enameled flowers are at the top& bottom of the animal panels. The lid also has the same type of decoration around the flat rim with the top of the lid being decorated with a stunning enameled flower. Antique W&R Carlton Ware Ceramic Pottery Biscuit Jar Here is a very pretty antique biscuit jar by W&R(Wiltshaw& Robinson) the maker of Carlton Ware Pottery between 1898 and 1958. Marked on the bottom: Rd No 157109 POPPY/ W&R STOKE ON TRENT with the Swallow insignia. Jar itself stands 6" tall and about 5.25" diameter with the exception of where the jar flares out just shy of the bottom by design. That is where a wonderful intricate pattern lays all around its body. The poppy design is in a slate blue/gray color over an off white ceramic glaze. The design extends beyond the intricate pattern but does not lay on top of that section which I find wonderfully intriguing. There is no mark on the top indicating plate or sterling. As shown in the picture there is some pitting along the edge of the top and some discoloration. ... moreAs you can see it is shining rather nicely and would display just fine. Still has its lid and that is neat and clean. Looks as if there was a hallmark along the top rim at some point. But very poorly incised so it can not be read. The ceramic glaze does have crazing on the inside and out, but a very fine crazing giving it(what I think of) as its character and indication of age. Nice heavy little jar. Antique Coffee Pot with Matching Lidded Biscuit Jar. The base mark dates this to the 1800s. As from 1842 to 1883, the British Patent Office issued registration numbers inside of a diamond so that the public could be assured of quality and a true British design. Unfortunately, the mark is now mostly unreadable, and we cannot ascertain the date of registration. The top mark is definitely the Roman Numeral IV, and therefore that assured the customer that this material is Clay Ware. The Coffee Pot Measures approximately 8-1/2" tall including its lid. And 8-1/8" across from handle to spout. It will hold 60 fluid ounces. The covered Biscuit Jar is 7" tall and 6" across from handle to handle. Both pieces are in excellent condition with no chips. There are hand painted white accents on two of the dresses in the figural scene. This dresser jar is marked with a blue shield or beehive. But I do no know the maker. According to Kovels' New Dictionary of Marks, many firms used variations of a blue-painted beehive mark. Up for your bidding pleasure is this old primitive antique ceramic stoneware pottery pickle jam honey crock jar with crazing. No marks. This primitive crock is free of chips, nicks or repairs. The jar stands 6" high and measures 5" wide. The original lid and handle are missing. The opening measures 3" in diameter. Nice aged patina. It has an ivory or cream color to it and could use a better cleaning. I dug this crock up from an old time dump located near Hazleton, PA.
