Their specialty was porcelain tea and breakfast ware. This precious biscuit barrel has the mark used by the company from 1892 to 1912. Finely hand gilded and painted with a sand-like finish around the outside. Measures 5" wide x 7" tall to lid finial. 9" tall with handle up. Up for auction is this really pretty& different looking colbalt blue porcelain jar. I am not sure if it is a cookie or biscuit jar. Well. Whatever it is, I think it is pretty. The handles are really unique the way they are shaped. The Fleur-De-Lis floal pattern is all around the jar& is so neat. On the bottom of the jar is the# 590. There are no other markings. If you check out my last picture you will see both of my estate found antique oak-porcelain British Biscuit-Cookie Jars that are listed this week. However this listing is for the Dark Oak jar on the right with the etched silveplated plaque that reads~Sheffield Cathedral Oak 13th~14th Century. I believe this jar may have been made from slavaged wood from the Sheffield Cathedral. The unique oak barrel has two chipped carved rings around the body of the barrel with a silverplated lid and handle. The heavy porcelain insert keeps the cookies-crackers or biscuits fresh while making a nice display on the breakfast table. The jar is still in excellent condition, there are three old vertical shrinkage lines on the body of the old oak, but the barrel is still sturdy& solid. Silver is tarnished and discolored on top and under lid. Porcelain bisquit barrel measures 6 inches high and 5 inches in diameter. It has EPNS silver handle. Lid and rim. Biscuit barrel depicts lilac roses and green leaves on a creamy yellow background with areas of sky blue. This is a RARE Vintage/ Antique 1957 Made in Japan- YONA Original. Elephant with a Clown Cookie Jar. Looks like it would have been a circus animal and clown! It has been repaired and repainted at the tusks. There is a small amount of crazing on the bottom(shown in pics) and the inside of the jar has some spots which would probably be removable with a small handed person or a nice brush to clean it. You are viewing a W& W Co. antique biscuit jar/barrel. This has a very pretty rose. Grapes, fruit and floral pattern. Some feel like they were painted over the glaze. The RN No# is 247274 which dates it between 1915 and 1932. This piece looks to have a silver-plate rim and handle that needs to be shined up(I won't disturb the patina) The lid looks brass or also silver-plate and has a swan sitting on top. There is some dirt/dust but again I hesitate to clean. Measures 6" high to the rim and with opening about 3.5" There are some blemishes but overall this is in very good vintage condition. There are 2 small chips along the bottom edge of the lid and some paint wear, but NO cracks or repairs! I have never seen another one quite like him! On one side, the body features a spray of purple and ivory pansies with a light yellow mum, some with raised detail. The opposite side has a single flower and leaves as does the top of the lid. The flowers are at the front of a serene light blue sky with puffy, peaceful clouds. The jar stands 5 1/2" tall without the lid(7" lidded) with a 4 1/2" base. The lid has gilt around the rim as well as on the handle. At the bottom in blue ink is the name Leonard Vienna, which is the mark the company used in 1917. Inside the lid in red are the numbers 7626 and 144. The jar is in good to very good used condition with some wear to the gilt rim of the lid. There is no crazing. Cracks or chips. A charming piece. Beautiful Jar. One of my personal favorites. Great Condition for how old it is. Girl and Roses. Some info I found about MZ Austria: MZ Austria is the wording on a mark used by Moritz Zdekauer on porcelains made at his works in Altrolau. Austria, from 1884 to 1909. Zdekauer's company exported pieces to American and Dutch colonies before it was bought by another company. The mark was changed to MZ Altrolau in 1909. When the firm was purchased by C.M. Hutschenreuther. The firm operated under the name Altrolau Porcelain Factories from 1909 to 1945. It was nationalized after World War II. The pieces were decorated with lavish floral patterns and overglaze gold decoration. Full sets of dishes were made as well as vases, toilet sets, and other wares.

Lovely Bavarian-style biscuit jar with applied floral motifs and handpainted gilt trim manufactured in the late 1800s by C. Tielsch Co. The company began in Hohenburg. Bavaria, under the Hutschenreuther Porcelain Factory umbrella, and later was located in Silesia, Germany. The manufacturer was known for having the best porcelain designers as well as for producing a wide range of household goods. The body of the jar is further enhanced by beautiful repousse framing the flowers and a reticulated edge to hold the complementary lid. It stands approximately 7 3/4" tall and has a diameter. At its widest point, of about 5" The diameter of the opening under the lid is 3 5/8" It's in excellent condition, with no chips or cracks whatsoever; only a bit of wear on the handpainted gilt as you can see in picture#6. This is made of porcelain and lavishly hand-painted with multi color flowers. This is all hand-painted and has no use of transfers. The flowers have raised jeweled centers, the flowers, leaves and stems are outlined in a heavy raised gilt. Gilt highlights the floral pattern and is brushed around the top and base of the jar. The background is a creamy tone. The top has a fluted, scalloped edge and the sides of the jar have a swirled scalloped shape. The lid is silver plate with a pineapple shaped final, it has some spots of tarnish, no dents or dings. Large size; the jar is 5 3/4" high, 6 3/4" with the lid, 5 1/4" across. Here's an excellent and RARE Nippon Portrait Biscuit or Cookie Jar hand-painted florals in medallions surrounded by gold gilt wreaths. The very best is the PORTRAIT of a European Princess! The Lid is intact and bears 6 floral medallions. This is a"transition" piece. Moving between pre-Nippon and Nippon ware: see the pale green with white border moriage outlining the flow blue Cobalt in a ribbon pattern ~ indicative of pre-Nippon pieces. Then see the masterful"Gold Scroll" gilding decoration of the wreaths, indicative of later Nippon. Transition piece, I believe. circa 1890 Unmarked. But Van Patten's ABK book of Nippon and Noritake from 2005, Page 260"Portraits" and"Jeweled-Cobalt" shows similar items, including one with the same portrait.
