Charles Dickens Tobacco Humidor Oliver Twist Taylor Tunnicliffe England 1800s
Up for bidding is a rare. Antique tobacco jar(humidor) with Charles Dickens characters painted on the sides and on the top of the lid. The beautifully detailed illustrations are of Oliver Twist, Joe, Dolly Vardon(Varden) and Bill Sykes. I am not sure of the character of the handle of the lid(Mr. Pickwick maybe? Not sure) These were made in the late 1800s(1875-1898) based on the Taylor Tunnicliff& Company trademark on the bottom and handwritten patent number(11928) This humidor is in very good condition and quite heavy, no chips or cracks on the jar and outside of the lid. As you can see in the pictures, the dark rim around the inside of the lid that allows it to snugly close the humidor is a little chipped and missing a small portion. This does not affect the use of the jar, as it opens and closes normally and does not affect the appearance ... moreof the jar. 16cm high(about 7 inches with the lid) and the diameter is about 5.5 inches. Thanks for viewing my listing and let me know if you have any questions!

Victorian Taylor Tunnicliffe & Cº Hinks Nº2 Duplex Kerosene Oil Lamp Delft Style
Victorian Taylor Tunnicliffe& Cº Hinks Nº2 Duplex Kerosene Oil Lamp Delft Style# Please scroll down for photographs# Please read to see exactly what is included. International bidders please ask postage costs BEFORE placing a bid unless costs are stated in the listing as prices can be expensive. Relisted due to previous winning bidder mistaking a slight blurriness in a section of tranferred design for restoration(one of the three pairs of branches holding the flowers in the design) The lamp does have crazing on the inside and underside but has never been restored or touched-up in any way.I have added additional macro images of this area and the other two instances that this part of the design occurs around the lamp to compare# Here we have an original Victorian Hinks Duplex lamp with earthenware fount and base made by Taylor ... moreTunnicliffe& Cº. The lamp is of the style often called a sideboard lamp. Usually squat lamps with a low centre of gravity, likely the height of the sideboard negates the need for a column. Lamp is unmarked apart from a model number on one of the feet(see image) I have seen this model before several times and they were both stamped with the'Taylor, Tunnicliffe& Cº' lozenge. Dimensions; lamp stands 17" tall to the top of the chimney and is around 7" across the base. Antique Pottery Tobacco Humidor, Taylor Tunnicliffe & Co Staffordshire, England
Up for auction is an attractive antique ceramic tobacco humidor by Taylor. Tunnicliffe& Co. Stoke-on-Trent, Staffordshire, England, c1890. This company was in business from 1868-1898 producing decorative wares, including humidors, biscuit jars and fairy lamps. After 1898, they specialized in electrical industry ceramics. The humidor jar is in excellent condition with absolutely no cracks or repairs. Just one small flake on rim of base. It has a pebbled surface similar to the"match-strike" surfaces Taylor Tunnicliffe used on other products. The lid fits snugly but has significant damage as can be seen in the photo. The top portion of the lid has small chips that show from the top just under the knob and significant chipping on the underside. The rubber gasket has a break. The lower ceramic portion of the lid is also chipped. ... moreThe knob handle does not screw down all the way-maybe there is a gasket missing. However. Even with this damage, the lid fits tightly into the top of the humidor and it does not deter from its looks. The jar measures about 5 1/4" high. The bottom of the humidor is stamped under the glaze with the Taylor. Tunnicliffe& Co. logo and the possible patent number"PATENT NO. 18289" The underside of the lid is also stamped"PATENT NO. 18289" Both numbers are very hard to decipher accurately. Please do not hesitate to contact me with questions. If you are the winning bidder. You will receive an automatic invoice from Ebay and I will ship asap after Paypal payment has cleared. If you purchase more than one item, I will always combine shipping whenever possible. Thanks for viewing this item and please check out the other items in my store.
