Antique Kutani Red & White Ginger Jar with Foo Dog Lid Red Markings Bottom/Lid
Check out my! This is listed as red but could be conidered rusty red. Tthe height approximates 11 inches with the lid and about 8 inches without the lid. There are 3 symbols on the bottom. The top 2 Are what I believe to be for Kutani. The 3rd. Which I believe to be the maker, I cannot identify. There are also 2 marks on the inner edge of the lid, which I cannot identify. All marks are in red. There is damage to the piece where the foo dog at some time was separated from the lid and reattached. There is also a chip on the tail. Other than that, I see no other damage. I do not know the age or history of this item as it was purchased at an estate auction.

Antique Moriage Embossed Gold-Leafed Japanese Ginger Jar w-lid 1880-1920 Satsuma
You are looking at ONE Antique Japanese Embossed Gold-Leafed Footed Ginger Jar with Handles& Lid. This Beautiful Jar is more than 100 years old. It has been displayed by members of my family for three generations. It is from the 1800s and is in the Moriage style with raised lines& dots for decoration. It is most likely from the Satsuma Region. Potter's Mark can be seen inside lid and on top rim of jar. Marks are somewhat worn and tails of characters may be worn off. The Lid has Several Cracks which have been repaired and a chip on the inside rim. Which can be seen in the photos. While the repairs are tight, the glue, unfortunately has changed color making the cracks visible. Perhaps some professional treatment can repair the discoloring of the glue. The jar itself appears to be in good condition. There may be a repair on one of ... morethe handles but I cannot be sure. The embossing and find line gold leafing are exquisitely done. The floral enamel painting is beautiful. The inside of the jar is clean and unstained. The jar has three curved feet, also gold leafed. The jar has two ornate gold leafed handles and a Three-Way Gold-Leafed Handle on the Lid. Some of the gold-leafing on the handles and feet are a little worn but considering the age, this is insignificant. The jar can be displayed with the lid turned with the flowers forward so that the crack does not show if it is at eye level. Cracks in lid are only obvious if you are looking down on the lid. Jar is 8" tall to rim and 8" across handle tip to handle tip. It is 10" tall with the lid on. A nice display piece. The jar has been in my family for three generations. It is time for it to find a new collector. If you display this piece at eye level or above, you cannot see the repaired crack on the lid. It will make a beautiful addition to your display shelf. Antique Ginger Jar/Covered Urn. For auction is an antique ginger jar or covered urn. It is exquisitely decorated with cherubs. Birds, flowers, leaves, swags and medallions. The colors are earth tone with cream. Brown, gold, yellow and green used throughout the jar. The decorated lid has a dark brown finial. The jar stands about 11 ¾” to the top of the finial. The bottom measures about 4 ¾” across and it appears to be about 7 ½” wide in the middle of the jar(difficult to get an exact measurement. The opening is 3 ¼” across. The jar is in good condition with no chips. Cracks or breaks. There are a couple of pin dots in the surface that probably occurred during its manufacturing and also has crazing over most of the surface. There are a few areas where the coloring in not uniform on the surface(look at the photos) The jar ... morehas no marking so I don’t know when. Where or who made it. Antique Chinese Ginger Jar & Lid with Blue & White Floral Design Qing Dynasty
Up for bids is a super antique Chinese ceramic glazed ginger pot. There is no writing or maker's mark. The pot possibly dates around the early part of the 1900's so could be Qing Dynasty. There are two light blue circles on the base. The pot is finished in dark blue and white with a cherry blossom design and it still has the original lid. The lid just fits loosely on top as there would have been a piece of fabric between the pot and the lid. The pot has a manufacturing crease mark at the top near the entrance which I have shown in the pictures- this is on the surface only and does not go right through and does not detract from the pot. There are no chips or cracks. The pot is approximately 5" high including the lid by approx. 5" in width. I have explained this item to the best of my ability. I purchased this from an estate auction and found myself caught up in a bidding war. I had to have it" type of of thing. I did not know what I was buying except that i loved it for my french decor. I competed hard against other buyers who probably knew what is was they were buying. I paid $200.00 for this. I am selling it now because I have changed decor and have no use for it. It is handpainted. Gold gilded, signed France and has markings on the bottom. Auctioneer explained it was rare and antique, made in France, other than that I do not know. Hand painted body. They come in various styles, sizes and also many different colors. The true Chinese antique ginger jar is made of porcelain and hand painted. Porcelain Chinese ginger jars were originally used to store food supplies like salt. Herbs, oil and ginger(rare spices at that time) while other ginger jars were allocated to be used as gifts. The jars acquired the name“ginger jars” because they often contained ginger when they were exported to the West. Some pictures shows the inside part of the"Ginger jar 2" with the age signs. Antique Chinese Canton Blue& White Ginger Jar- No Reserve. It measures 6 3/4 inches tall(including the lid) by 6 3/4 inches wide. It's in good condition with no cracks. It has one chip on the top rim and one small chip on the edge of the base. The lid has two chips on the botton edge. The lid fits loosely and I'm not sure if it's the original lid.

Beautiful. Large, covered jar that we found at an estate sale in San Diego. The ceramic is off-white and the colors in the design are shades of blue. The hand painted art work is of ready to harvest heads of bok choy(Chinese cabbage) The finial at the top of the lid is a lying down. Full figure of a pug or foo dog. There are four heads of foo dogs near the top edge with holes behind their heads through which a cord, rope or ribbon could be laced. The jar by itself stands 15" tall, to the top of the lid is 19" approximately 11" wide, weighs 16 1/2 pounds. There is no makers mark or signature and I don't know the age or era. These are gorgeous and belonged to my mother whom had a very large collection of blue and white She loved incorporating them in every home and would mix oriental with country and it always worked Please feel free to ofer your opinion as I'm not at all an expert on this type of item. These are very similar in shape. Design and size yet one is about a pound heavier than the other Beautiful Blue& White can transition to any type of design in my opinion. Overall in lovely condition except for any natural imperfections and a few nicks inside one lid. The texture is bumpy and there are a lot of like pin dots in the porcelain mostly on the lids. They have a nice shine except for the tops of each jar and part of the bottoms. They seem to be hand painted. The bottoms have a double circle and not other markings. Both are 9 inches tall.
