Up for sale we have an extra fancy Gilded Nippon Covered Biscuit Jar. Or also called a Cracker Barrel. This porcelain piece is from the late 19th century and has lots of Victorian fanciful detail. It is marked on the bottom with the blue Nippon Mark. The china is a snow white and shows off the beautiful marron bands or color accented by the heavy gold enamel. The handles have much molded detail and are also accented with heavy gold. The Barrel measures 9" wide at the handles by 6" tall to the top of the elaborate finial handle. Lovely antique porcelain hand painted biscuit jar. This piece is not marked. But I am certain from the design, quality of porcelain, and overall look that it is German. The inset lid has eight"points" and a small knob at the top. There is gilt trim and a scalloped design. The main feature is the beautiful variety of flowers and colors. There are Pansies, Zinnias, and other flowers in coral, lavender, pink, gold, and white. The bottom is also scalloped. You are purchasing an antique Ott& Brewer Co Biscuit Jar. The Ott and Brewer Co was in business in Trenton NJ from 1871-1892. This is a great piece in cobalt blue with gilt handles and trim. The trim around the neck of the jar is a scroll and sunburst pattern. With an Asian inspired floral design on the lid and body of the jar. The gilt floral pattern on the body of the jar is faded from age, there is some crazing on the inside of the jar but is otherwise in very good condition with no chips or cracks. The Lid of the jar has one very small chip on the inside rim and a superficial hairline crack on the inside of the lid, that does not detract from the appearance. SF & Co Fielding Crown Devon floral biscuit cracker jar with blush glaze 1920's
I have for you this evening a very beautiful example of pottery made at the kilns of SF& Co S. Fielding of stoke on Trent England and is from a line called Crown Devon. This piece is made from a nice grade of semi porcelain and has been cast into a rigged melon style mold design. This piece has been decorated with purple pansies I believe. The cover is tarnished but was once silver toned and can be brought back with a bit of TLC. This piece will make a lovely addition to your collection as well as displaying nicely no matter the setting. Item dimensions and dating: All measurements are approximate. This piece measure 10.5" tall with the cover in place. This piece dates from the early 20th century by the marks and design elements. Item condition report: This piece is in nice vintage condition with no chips or cracks. There are minor small spots were the glaze and decoration have nicked off from use but nothing to distracting. The colors are still fresh and vibrant so this piece shows beautifully. Yellow ceramic jar with lid. Could have been a biscuit or cookie jar. Measures 5-1/4 inches tall. 4-1/2 inches diameter. Lid with loop handle. Carlton Ware Aesthetic Nouveau biscuit jar w floral decor cobalt gold gilt rim
I have for you this evening a beautiful example of pottery that was fired at the kilns of Witshaw and Robinson in England in the very late 19th to early 20th century. These wares are known as Carlton Ware. This piece is made of fine grade English clays and has been cast into a unique mold design. The glaze is lovely and the hand painted flowes are stunning. Te cobalt rim and golt gilt really set this piece apart and the Aesthetic Movement Japanese feel of the piece makes this a real collectors prize. Wares made by this maker fall into many catagories recognized by the collectors guild. However I am not familiar enough with these wares to know which range this falls within. I can say that my extensive research has not yielded a single like example so I believe this to be quite a rare example by this maker. This is a classic piece and is quite ... morelovely. Stunning is the only apropos word that comes to mind when trying to describe this biscuit jar. Cool. Colorful, and highly collectible, this biscuit Jar is stamped'New Amsterdam 1315' on the bottom of the lid, and if it's not unique, it is extremely rare. Dating back to the early 1800's this beautifully hand painted flower pattern is in amazing condition given its age. The lid is both intricate. A lovely Made in Germany biscuit/cracker or cookie jar. It has pretty cream and pink roses and beautiful luster colors on white. It has no damage. Measurements are 5" high. 8" across the handles, 5" across the top and19" circumference( around the middle) Excellent condition with no damage, I don't see any wear to the coloring or roses pattern. It has two handles. The only item I see is tiny pin spots on the lid, barely in the surface and look like mfg flaws, one is just a brown speck. Shipping is 3-lbs.
