Manifestations of a reverence for ancestors and a belief in the power of symbolism. These traits are recognized as characteristic of the cultural development of the region during the period from 300 B.C. to 400 A.D. the time of the Colima culture. Colima is best known for its finely finished red burnished effigies, both of humans and animals, especially dogs, and the solid small unburnished figurines, commonly called Colima flats. This beautifully modeled, solid archaic standing female figure is depicted wearing a headband, earrings and a necklace with multiple pendants. It measures 2 inches in width by 0.5 inches in depth by 6 inches in height(5.08 cm by 1.27 cm by 15.2 cm) The figure shows wear consistent with a Pre-Columbian dating, with a hairline cracks on both legs from previous repair work, but generally is in very good condition. PRE COLUMBIAN POTTERY FRAGMENT ECUADOR AUTHENTIC This is a small but very detailed authentic Pre Columbian pottery head fragment from Ecuador from an old private collection. From the deformation of the head presumably La Tolita culture 600 B C- 200 A D. The heavily lidded eyes are very distinct anad detailed as is the nose with an exceptionally large nose ring. The mouth is open with a square lip plug in the lower lip. Very elaborate ear ornaments. The headdress is high and the head slopes backward. The head is hollow and broken almost evenly at the neck so it will stand alone but can be supported on a stand. Close up photos show the debris on the fragment as it has not been cleaned. It is approximately 1 1/2 inches high and 1 3/4 inches across the widest portion of the head. The face has a very slight reddish tint also on the right jaw line ... morewhile the top of the headdress is a darker gray.

Hi. I have an interesting Mayan stone head found in a sacred well for auction. This awesome ancient artifact was recovered from a cenote near Ticul, Yucatan in Mexico. This stone head has protruding ears and nose, the way they should naturally. In order for them to this on stone, they had to remove all the other stone from around it. Considering that they were using stone tools makes it even more incredible. This is the larger of two heads that I am auctioning. I believe this to be Mayan, but it could be from the later Toltecs. Hi. I have a very interesting Mayan stone head that was recovered from a cenote for auction. This ancient stone artifact was recovered from a sacred well near Ticul, Yucatan Mexico. Ancient Pre-Columbian head from Valley of Mexico Traces of Red Pigment
This ancient pre-Columbian head measures 2 1/4 inches wide by just under 1 1/2 inches tall. The head has well defined eyes. Nose and mouth. The head also has depictions of ear spools. There is a small amount of the original red pigment on the face. The head is complete and broken at the neck from the torso. The head was found in the valley of Mexico. SquareTrade © AP6.0 Here's a tiny Aztec ZOLAPAN STYLE CLAY FIGURE HEAD. Ca: 700- 1000 AD found many years ago near the Teotihuacan Pyramids in Mexico's Central Highlands. It is 7/8 in. 2.1cm) tall. 3/4 in. 1.9cm) wide and 11/16 in. 1.7cm) thick. This appears to be a modeled figure having carefully made delicate incised eyes and modeled nose and mouth. Zolapan figures were almost always devoid of headdresses and earspools, as is this one. It's nicely made of fired gray clay(terracotta) and in excellent condition. He's a very tiny example of Zolapan Phase head associated with the late stages of the Aztec Culture. It's one of the smallest Zolapan Style heads I've ever sold!
