Has not been professionally authenticated) A high quality Imperial Chimu effigy vessel depicting a bear head on one end and a Man head on the other. The feet of the bear? seem lizard like and also serve as the mans arms and hand. There appears to be a leash or rope on the bears mouth wrapping around the vase& leading to the mans hand. Suggestive of the creatures captive state. there is also two handles which appear to be the bears arms. The bear has a tail. A large stirrup. Typical of Chimu, rises from the creatures back into a cylindrical spout. Burnished& exhibits a glossy, grey-black and mocha color. Hi. I have a great Mayan figure whistle for auction. This is a Mayan Dignitary wearing a jaguar hat. He has large ear spools and a neck wrap. He is a portly fellow. I purchased this from Arte Primitivo, the Howard Rose Gallery. There is a picture included of the piece in the auction catalog. It was the July 17, 2006 Catalog Page 12#30. They cam from the Imre and Nicholas T. Molnar collection that they accumulated from 1960-1978. This is a very unique artifact. I haven't seen one quite like this. The whistle is broken. Hi. I have a massive Jalisco seated female figure for auction.This is an absolutely huge ancient artifact, it's 16 1/2" High! It is from western Mexico, Shaft Tomb Culture, Proto-Classic Period 200BC-300AD. This is an"Ameca" Type figure. It is a hollow buff clay figure seated with arms outstretched to sides. She is wearing a headdress with tails hanging down from her head in back. She also has a nose ring, and pellet like applications on her shoulders. She is holding an offering bowl on her left shoulder.with contents in the bowl. There are vent holes in each ear. This huge pottery artifact had a European restoration with repaired pieces and new clay. The repairs blend in and aren't noticed much because of the sheer size of it. This old man came from the Totonac Culture and dates 500-700AD. I have seen other very similar platform figures that were called Coast Watchers.
