Colima Dog This is a wonderful Colima figural dog vessel. As found in a local estate and believed to be an ancient piece from Western Mexico, approximately ... moretwo thousand years old. The dog is fat- or pregnant- with a hollow body in aggressive stance with tail that forms a spout. The dog's eyes and mouth are incised into the clay. Dog effigies such as this were buried in tombs in the belief that dogs were an important guide into the afterlife of the deceased. Both of the dog's ears are chipped; one with minor loss. The other more significantly. Two legs have been re-glued; the repairs are rough and amateur, and the break lines appear to have had some loss and are not well-aligned. The burnished reddish brown exterior is mottled and veined. And the interior is encrusted with mineral sediment. The dog came to me without information on its history or provenance. But shows many indications of its age. It's a fascinating piece that is sure to complement any collection. Two legs repaired somewhat roughly. One ear is broken. The other is chipped. Other expected wear. Burnished exterior, rough interior with sediment deposits. 9 3/8" long. 6" high, 5" across[ p e n c i l p o i n t e r Shipping? FREE via USPS Priority International Shipping? Magnificently shadow-box framed Chinese Jade Ceremonial Vessel Here. Most magnificently presented, is a handsome Chinese Jade ceremonial vessel. The piece ... morehas a spout and is adorned with the Foo Dog, often thought of as a Dragon or Lion, and it is beautifully carved. The frame is 32 1/2" x 39" the piece is 7" tall by 5" at the widest. I am not an expert on Chinese antiques, and have not examined the piece out of the frame, but I believe, due to the quality of the carving, that the piece has age. Although I can not ascribe to it a specific dynasty. Offered for $1200, no reserve. I would imagine the frame alone cost in excess of $500. Prefer that this is picked up(near N.Y.C. in North New Jersey) as this would have to be crated and probably shipped by truck as it is too large to be mailed. so if you are planning to have it shipped consider that it will likely cost $250-$375 Will not ship this out of the US! including crating) Take a Look at what we Currently have Offered. This is a vintage reproduction of a Northern Song dynasty (960-1279) celadon reverse flow tea pot. There is a cone built into the inner design of the ... morepot, so the water comes in through the base and is contained in the vessel once it flows over the top of the inner cone. Then can be poured out through the snarling mouth of the foo dog or lion. The handle is a lizard there is a floral lotus pattern and it appears to be a mouse or rat biting the stomach of the lion causing him to open his toothy mouth. I'm not sure when (probably early to mid 20c) or where in China this piece was made, but it was made in the style of the Song Dynasty original reverse flow vessel in the Yaozhou province, known for its celadon glazed pottery. This is a great addition to any Asian arts or teapot collection.

This is a stunning Chinese ceremonial wine vessel. I got it from a renowned Asian antiques collector in the Bay Area. He told me that is is most likely ... morefrom the Han dynasty which puts it 2000+ years old, but he also said that it could possible be older than that. It has a lot of bronze disease on it, and has small bits of it flaking off if you move it in an odd way. Take a look at all the photos to see general condition. This is truly an item that does not pop up for sale very often if ever. Rarely do these kinds of artifacts, pop up for sale and usually they end up going to private collections or museums.
