This interesting piece is a Pre Columbian reproduction of a Muisica double jar effigy vessel complete with aging appearance including manganese deposits. ... moreIt is a fairly large item. Solid and rather heavy. The color and markings are intense making it a great show piece. I purchased this and a few others that are made by modern artists doing Pre Columbian style vessels. This even has mineral deposits scattered over it. I like a few of these from the artistic standpoint and I can get nice Pre Columbian decor for much less than original that are artistically done. I have priced it as a reproduction well done. The Muiscas were a more loosely organized confederation of peoples than say. The Incas, Aztecs, or Mayans with pottery starting about 1500 BC. Culture: Muisca. Columbia Size: 11 in long. 8 inches tall, 51/2 in deep Ca era: 500-800BC See my other Pre Columbian items and unique items. A large Pre-Columbian Jalisco horned shaman hollow figure vessel from ancient West Mexico. Circa 200 B.C. 300 A.D. This example measures approximately ... more10" tall by about 5 1/2" wide and depicts a seated figure with a prominent horn-like protrusion from his forehead. Such horn-like depictions on figures are believed by scholars to symbolically represent the individual as a shaman. The individual has a false beard-like protrusion from his chin, and is holding an object near his mouth, perhaps a flute-like instrument, pipe or ceremonial object. The object is very heavy due to original sediment from burial remaining inside. Condition: Body is intact. Multiple repairs at the head(but the face area is mostly untouched) with fill/restoration over the break lines around the top. Sides and back of the head, as visible in the photos. Surface erosion, pigment loss, chipping, abrasions, weathering and wear overall. Heavy sediment deposits remain inside from burial, with traces of root marks and mineral deposits on the surface as evidence of age and authenticity. Provenance: Former Lynn Langdon collection. Collected personally by Langdon between the 1940's to 1960's.

VERY RARE & FINE-ANCIENT Pre-Columbian MAYAN Tubular JADEITE Bead
Very finely crafted. Long slender Mayan Jadeite bead, sourced in the Highlands of Guatemala. This amazing bead speaks to a level of craftsmanship that only the very early Indus Valley Cultures have equalled. Considering the technology at hand(which was that of sticks and abrasive powders) how does one make such a fine and delicate bead! The walls are thin, and the holes oversized. This allowed for maximizing the translucent quality of the jadeite. There is a little wear at one of the stringing holes, otherwise this wonderful and rare bead is in excellent condition. 25mm x 4mm. We combine shipping costs. ALL US POSTAL SERVICE FEES HAVE BEEN RAISED An additional fee will be added for shipping to Asia, as a tracking number is required.

A Large Pre-Columbian Jama Coaque Standing Female Sculptural Whistle. Manabi, Ecuador ca. A.D. 200-600. This hollow standing female figure. Dating to the Protoclassic Period of the Jama Coaque sculptural tradition, ca. A.D. 200-600, has the detailed features typical of this culture: the large lidded half-moon shaped eyes, the nose with large nose-ring decoration with turquoise colored pigment which also appears in the headdress as well as the necklaces, multiple earrings on one side, multiple rows of incised decorations are covering the shoulders and arms, which are held outward at her sides. She is bare-chested and a reddish-orange slip covers the face. A hole in the top of the head not only serves as the vent, but is the mouthpiece for the fully functional whistle. Exceptionally fine example of early Costa Rican (Pre-Columbian?) Pottery
Normal 0 false false false EN-US JA X-NONE An exceptional example of an early Central American pedestal vessel with incised geometric patterns. No chips or known cracks on the rim or on the pedestal. Its dimensions are 5 ½“ wide by 4 ½“ tall. My research indicates this is an example of Central American pottery with the characteristics of pottery produced in Costa Rica/Panama before European contact. It has an interesting design with a recessed area at the center of each geometric pattern. This was one of several pieces acquired at of an estate sale of a person that traveled extensively in Central America during 1950s-1980s.
