Mezcala figurine, grey calcite Mesoamerica
This is a stone figurine from Mezcala Guerrero. It was collected in the 1950's or 60's by Mr. Ed Young of Albuquerque. NM who is now deceased. His label on masking tape is still in place on the rear of the figurine. This example shows the type with spaces cut between arms and body as seen in Carlo Gay's study of Mezcala figurines, type M14 in his types, the treatment of eyes more resembles type M16. I will send include pages copied from Gay's work on these human figurines. It is a rare object which shows the ancient lithic tradition of Guerrero. 336.RcmdId ViewItemDescV4,RlogId p4%60bo7%60jtb9%3Fvo%7B%3Dd70f%2B%3E336-14205031955-0x104-
