Authentic Baltimore and Ohio(B&O) Railroad stock certificate issued in the 1950's and 1960's. This is an original certificate. Not a copy or reproduction. The company was chartered in 1827 and in it's prime its routes ran east to Philadelphia and New York and West to Chicago and St. Louis. The B&O was the oldest US passenger line and is best known as one of the Monopoly game railroad stocks. Abe Lincoln wrote the Gettysburg address on a line bought by the B&O. It became part of the Chessie system(Chesapeake& Ohio and Baltimore& Ohio) which in 1980 became part of CSX transportation. The vignette is of a Tom Thumb train with a harbor scene in the background. The scan does not show the detail of the engraving used to print these certificates. The certificate offered is in MINT condition- no folds marks(creases) ... moreno stains, no tears. The vignette is a picture of Cornelius Vanderbilt, one of the most famous industrialists of the 20th century. Cornelius Vanderbilt(May 27. 1794– January 4, 1877) was an American entrepreneur who built his wealth in shipping and railroads and was the patriarch of the Vanderbilt family. Vanderbilt entered the railroad business in 1857 and eventually gained control of the New York and Harlem Railroad. Besting his rival, Daniel Drew. However, Drew and his associates James Fisk and Jay Gould thwarted Vanderbilt’s efforts to gain control of the Erie Railroad in the“Erie War” of 1867-68. Despite this setback, Vanderbilt managed to expand his empire through purchase ... moreand consolidation. He gained control of the New York Central in 1869. By 1873, he successfully linked New York to Chicago by rail. During the Panic of 1873 and the resulting depression, Vanderbilt began construction of Grand Central Terminal in New York City, offering employment to thousands who otherwise would have been unemployed. The New York Central was one of the few railroads that posted profits during the depression. The certificate has ornate blue borders and is a great piece of history. Original Cleveland and Pittsburgh stock certificate dated in the 1970's. The certificate has a beautiful triple vignette with the center showing a old locomotive at a train station. The left vignette showing a farm scene with a steam boat in the background and the right vignette being the Seal of the State of Pennsylvania. The Cleveland& Pittsburgh Railroad was chartered in 1836 by the Pennsylvania Railroad Company in response to public interest in building a rail line between the 2 cities. Originally known as the Cleveland, Warren& Pittsburgh, the first charter was set aside until 1845, when interest in building a rail line from Cleveland to the Pennsylvania state line revived. Lack of funding delayed construction in Cleveland and forced the city council to ask for construction support at a public hearing in 1847. The following ... moreyear Cleveland voters approved a $100,000 stock subscription. By 1852 the track for the Ohio connection with Pittsburgh and Wheeling had been laid from Cleveland through Hudson and Ravenna to Wellsville on the Ohio River. In 1853 the Pennsylvania legislature incorporated the C&P line to connect Pittsburgh with the Ohio company. In 1856 a C&P train departing Cleveland became the first to burn coal in its locomotive engine; a more efficient fuel, coal quickly supplanted wood as the railroads' energy source. In 1871 the C&P was leased for 99 years to the Pennsylvania Railroad. It provided a valuable western connection for both the railroad and Cleveland; at its height in 1908, the line operated 256 miles and carried over 1.8 million passengers. Authentic and rare Packard Motor Company stock certificate dated January 25. 1937. This is a real, original stock certificate and is unique via the person/entity it is issued to, its issue date and the stock serial number. The certificate pictured is the exact one you will receive. The vignette is a female and two male allegorical figures at her sides. Packard was an American luxury automobile marque built by the Packard Motor Car Company of Detroit, Michigan, and later by the Studebaker-Packard Corporation of South Bend, Indiana. The first Packard automobiles were produced in 1899 and the last in 1958. Packard was founded by James Ward Packard(Lehigh University, Class of 1884) William Doud Packard and their partner, George Lewis Weiss, in the city of Warren, Ohio. 1930's Little Miami Railroad Company stock certificate g8 Ohio / RR collectible
Authentic Little Miami Railroad Company cancelled stock certificate issued in the 1930's. This is a real certificate. Not a copy or reproduction. The certificate has a beautiful vignette of a steam locomotive pulling a passenger railcar with people looking on and woods and a far off town in the background. It also has a smaller vignette on the bottom of a farmer plowing his fields with two horses. The Little Miami was incorporated on March 11, 1836 and its first president, who served without pay, was Jerremiah Morrow, governor of Ohio. It was the second railroad incorporated in the State of Ohio. The LMRR would eventually be purchased by the Pittsburgh, Cincinatti, Chicago and St. Louis RR, which was part of the Pennsylvania RR Company. The Pennsylvania RR would eventually become Penn Central and go into bankruptcy. The remnants of this ... morerailroad would become part of Conrail. Original. Unissued Choctaw. Oklahoma and Gulf Railroad( CO&G) stock certificate dated in 1904. With the stock serial#3692. The certificate has two vignettes with the left one showing an old locomotive pulling into a station and the right vignette showing 3 men moving a bale of cotton. The certificate is unissued and therefore has no fold marks and is in crisp condition. The Choctaw. Oklahoma and Gulf Railroad( CO&G) Known informally as the"Choctaw Route, was an American railroad in the states of the Arkansas. And Oklahoma. The company. Originally known as the Choctaw Coal and Railway Company, completed its main line between West Memphis. Arkansas and western Oklahoma by 1900. In 1901 the CO&G chartered a subsidiary company. The Choctaw, Oklahoma and Texas Railroad, to continue construction west into the Texas panhandle. And ... moreby 1902 the railroad had extended as far west as Amarillo. The CO&G came under the control of the Chicago. Rock Island and Pacific Railroad(the"Rock Island" in 1902. And was formally merged into the Rock Island on January 1, 1948. The Memphis-Amarillo route remained an important main line for the Rock Island, hosting local and transcontinental freight traffic as well as passenger trains such as the Choctaw Rocket. Substantial portions of the former Choctaw Route were abandoned after the Rock Island was dissolved in 1980. Other segments of the former CO&G. However, remain in use by the Union Pacific Railroad and various short lines. The former Choctaw Route passenger depot in Little Rock. Arkansas. Is now a component of the William J. Clinton Presidential Center and Park. Though the adjoining historic freight depot was razed as part of the Clinton Center's development. Original stock certificate and is unique via the person/entity it is issued to, its issue date and the stock serial number. The vignette is a male allegorical figure holding a piston and calibration tool with a production line and draftmen scene in the background. Studebaker-Packard Corp was the result of the merger of Studebaker and Packard Motor Company and is a significant piece of automotive history. The last Studebaker was produced on March 17, 1966. The production of the last Studebaker did not mark a definite end of the company or its products. The Studebaker Corporation(the Packard name was officially dropped from the corporate title in 1962) had acquired numerous subsidiaries, such as STP, Gravely, Clarke and Onan, so although it did ... morenot build cars after March 1966, the company carried on. 1930's Michigan Central Railroad $5,000 stock bond certificate g8 collectible
Authentic Michigan Central Railroad Company $5.000 bond certificate issued in the mid- 1930's. This is an original certificate, not a copy or reproduction. The vignette shows two steam engine locomotives pulling passenger cars under a bridge. The certificates are hand signed by the company's Vice President and Asst Treasurer(note that the punch cancellation marks are in the signature area so it is difficult to make out the name) and are almost 80 years old. The Michigan Central Railroad was originally incorporated in 1846 to establish rail service between Detroit. Michigan and St. Joseph. Michigan. The railroad later operated in the states of Michigan. Indiana. And Illinois in the United States. And the province of Ontario in Canada. After about 1867 the railroad was controlled by the New York Central Railroad. Which later became ... morepart of Penn Central and then Conrail. After the 1998 Conrail breakup Norfolk Southern now owns much of the former Michigan Central trackage.
