It measures about 5 1/2" X 5 1/2" X 7" 14.0 cm X 14.0 cm X 17.9 cm) The vessel depicts a couple of figures, either anthropomorphic or zoomorphic. The Wari Culture was a Middle Horizon Civilization located 6.8 miles( 11.0 km) North-East of the modern city of Ayacucho. Ayacucho was then the center of a civilization that covered much of the Highlands and Coast of modern-day Peru. Besides the Wari Ruins, the Northern Wari Ruins or Cerro Patapo, are the best-preserved remnants. It is believed that the vast expansion of the Wari Empire was due to religion conversion, military conquest, or the spread of agricultural knowledge(mainly Terrace agriculture) The Waris grew bitter potato and corn, raised llama and alpaca. The Waris were into a trading network across The Andes where figurines, ceramic vessels, textiles, and metals were traded. Custom listed using TROCADERO's automated HTML and Picture Hosting tools. This marvelous head was most probably placed over a second figure and worn as a"helmet" or a mask. This approach occurs on many Vera Cruz and Mayan pieces. Often associated with warriors or ball game figures. My guess is that this piece is most likely Vera Cruz. As noted, it is complete in itself and retains traces of both white and red pigment. One small apparent loss to the headband/headdress. The piece measures just over 2-1/2" in height. Shipping and handling in the US is $15; overseas will vary. Pre Columbian vintage mask handmade Peru, inca God, pottery artifact relic
Great decorative piece made in mid 1900s in Peru by a Peruvian artisan. Likely Inca descendant. Has a loop on back to hang. Last photo is rear side not blotched pic. This is an Inca God. Wonderful copper masks were made by the Incas among other cultures with great intricacy. This has Silver eyes but I am not sure if plated. It's good fun item to add an Incan feeling in a home with Latin decor. Uncommon item and one of a kind handmade. Good pre Columbian artifact replica of mask. It has"Peru" stamped on back of it. Agriculture and fishing were very important activities. The Chimus worshipped the Moon. They view the Sun as a destroyer, possibly because of the harshness of the sun in their desert environment. Their ceramics were usually stained black, although there were variations. Lighter ceramics were not common, but were produced ... morein smaller quantities. The typical brightness of their ceramics was obtained by rubbing against a rock that was previously polished. Animals, fruits, mystical entities, and daily events were pictorically represented in their art. Custom listed using TROCADERO's automated HTML and Picture Hosting tools. For questions. Pre-columbian Bead Lot Mayan Inca Aztec Peru Bird Human Effigies Gold ? Turquois
A very interesting collection of beads brought from Peru by a missionary in the early 1950's. I am not sure what age or time period they would be from. The stone beads appear to be from several different materials. The large ones are possibly turquoise or jade. The gold beads and effigies are of stamped metal. It's possible they have some gold content or are gold washed. As they show little signs of tarnish. I counted well over 300 beads total. The strand measures about 15" long. The face effigy measures 0.95" by 1.36" Please view our other auctions being listed over the next few days. We will be dispersing many artifacts from several recent collection acquisitions. Great pre Columbian seated couple in two figures. This is a wonderful pair seated together with stoic poses. Jalisco couples are rare to fid and great collectors items. I purchased them from Minerva Gallery that sells Pre a Columbian art and other lovely antiquities and they are authentic. They come from an old culture in Western Mexico. I am not sure what could have happened to the man's right shoulder. Pre Columbian ~ Inca Pottery Lambayeque Period 1000 AD ~ Large 7 1/2" X 6 1/2"
Available for your consideration is a collection of high end and rare Authentic Pre Columbian Art. This is a 6 1/2" wide X 7 1/2" high Lambayeque period piece with a lot of detail. This piece was professionally restored by a curator in the 1960's. The repairs and missing pieces only add to the beauty and shows its authenticity. It is missing the lower half of the right arm and has a small chip on the nose. The right ear was repaired. But barely noticeable. Two of my pieces from the Lambayeque period came from a 45 year private collection from New York. Which I acquired from an auction. I love these pieces, so I know they will add to any buyer's collection! ~ THIS IS AN AUTHENTIC PRE COLUMBIAN PIECE ~(This is NOT a Reproduction) The Lambayeque period dates to approximately 1000 AD. Extending to the rise of the Chimú ... moreEmpire in 1350 AD. The Chimú were the residents of Chimor, with its capital at the city of Chan Chan, a large adobe city in the Moche Valley of present-day Trujillo city. The culture arose about 900 AD. The Inca ruler Tupac Inca Yupanqui led a campaign which conquered the Chimú around 1470 AD, This was just fifty years before the arrival of the Spanish in the region. Consequently, Spanish chroniclers were able to record accounts of Chimú culture from individuals who had lived before the Inca conquest. Similarly, Archaeological evidence suggest Chimor grew out of the remnants of Moche culture; early Chimú pottery had some resemblance to that of the Moche. Their ceramics are all black, and their work in precious metals is very detailed and intricate. Chimú ceramics were crafted for two functions: containers for daily domestic use and those made for ceremonial use for offerings at burials. Domestic pottery was developed without higher finishing. While funeral ceramics show more aesthetic refinement. The main features of Chimú ceramics were small sculptures, and manufacturing molded and shaped pottery for ceremonial or daily use. Ceramics were usually st

Inca Treasures LTD 19 Pre Columbian pottery spindle beads artifacts vessel art
This is a wonderful set of nineteen Pre Columbian pottery stone artifact beads strung together. Seventeen are on the tie and 2 smaller whorl beads are free from another collection giving 19 beads. They are from Western Mexico but the two conical shaped are likely Peru beads. They have great patterns. Color and deep decorations on them. Great pieces for making more ornate necklaces or just to enjoy. Spindle or whorl beads were used on spindle sticks to enhance the spinning speed of making yarn out of the alpaca wool. Very interesting Pre Columbian pottery vessel art with serpentine legs and serpent faces rimming the top of the vessel though the faces almost look simian. Inca Treasures Pre Columbian style pottery bowl artifact Terraca Mexico art
A very unique and unusual Pre Columbian style pottery artifact with a village specific design. Different old villages in Mexico have produced design patterns unique to their villages and often the village can be identified by the pattern. This coffee bean design matches another that I purchased online from a different unrelated source and both have this design. The only two pieces like this I have seen. I researched this and it appears to be the same pattern and is old and from a village in Mexico. These patterns may endure for years. This is an antique piece and is in shape of a vessel or bowl. The pattern of this and the other Pre Columbian style both have strong color with a coffee bean motif. I am not exactly certain of the age and my estimate is it is from the mid 1850s to early 1930s. The two dishes make a nice twosome if bought together. ... moreThe other vessel is a bowl on my site. Folk art piece from Mexico. Nice piece for collector of pre Columbian pottery or folk art pottery art.
