Pre Columbian Carved Stone Seated Figure Idol Effigy Statue Olmec Mayan Mezcala
This listing is for a Pre Columbian carved stone figure. The stone is relatively soft. And a gray color where the original surface is chipped. The statue stands on its feet, though it is in a seated or hunched position. The front surface is darker than the back. The deeper recesses have a white crystalline residue. The figure stands 5.9" tall, and weighs 27 ounces. Its in good condition save for the lighter color chips and scratches. I am fairly unfamiliar with South American artifacts, and rather than attempt to attribute it, I will let you decide what culture it came from.

Ancient Mezcala Jade Stone Statue Artifact Pre-Columbian Rare Style NR
Hi. I have a very nice Mezcala statue for auction. I own a few different Mezcala figures, and have seen hundreds. This one is different. Most of the Mezcala figures are thicker, this is very thin. It is no more than a quarter inch thick. This statuem was made with an arrowhead drill technique. You can visibly see all the spots all around it where it was hand drilled to cut and scuplt it. This drilling is the same way that they drill out the top of a pendant for suspension. This piece has visible weathering and there is no denying it's age. It dates 200 BC- 200AD. I made the stand to make it more presentable, and it's included. It's a shame that it wasn't recovered with the other leg intact. This came from an old collection. The half dollar is for size comparison only and is not included in this auction. I combine shipping. ... moreThanks for looking. Pre-Columbian Mezcala Culture Carved Stone Idol - Axe God / 300 BC - 300 AD
Pre-Columbian Mezcala Stone Figure Mexico ~ 300 BC- 300 AD Black Basalt ~ please scroll down for more photos and information ~ SIZE: Height- 4.75” 12 cm) Width- 2” 5 cm) Depth- 1.25” 3.5 cm) DESCRIPTION: Small carved Pre-Columbian black stone abstracted human figure from the Mezcala Culture of Guerrero in Southwestern area of Mexico. Black hardstone. Possibly basalt. This example is in the form of a standing figure. Standing on diminutive legs with the hands resting on the abdomen. The large head is stylized with abstract, simple features and the back undulating with subtle sculptural features and is without detail. This figure has a nice smooth and somewhat glossy patina on the protruding areas. The figure won’t stand by itself and was photographed using a thin wood rod to make it stand up. It was purchased over 20 years ago from an old ... morecollection of Pre-Columbian objects in Northern California. AGE: 300 BC- 300 AD CONDITION: Good condition. As shown in the photos and with the following noted: No breaks, chips, or repairs. Overall patina from handling and age. Small amounts of soil encrustation in the tiny pores of the stone and crevices. HISTORY: The Pre-Columbian Mezcala Culture is a little understood culture that was based in present-day Guerrero. Mexico. A long, complex culture history of the Guerrero region prevents a finite understanding of who exactly made Mezcala objects. The culture is also called Balsas Culture because it is centered in the upper Balsas River drainage region. It is believed the Mezcala style emerged during the Pre-classic Period, between 700-200 B.C. and continued on into Classic Period to 650 A.D. Objects attributed to the the Mezcala Culture include figurines. Masks, small effigies of animals and objects, beads, pendants and earplug flares. They are carved from a variety of green, gray-green, gray and black color hardstones and jade. The art style is so unique that Mezcala objects are readily recognized for their abstract and minimalist anatomical features. Some Mezcala

Mezcala Green Stone Head Ancient Artifact Pre-Columbian Mayan NR
Hi I have a Mezcala Guerrero green stone head for auction. This Mezcala head is quite different than most that you see. Because of the hat. Rarely do you ever see a hat on a Mezcala figure, let alone a round one like this. That's one of the reasons I acquired this many years ago from an old collection. The face is stylized in typical Mezcala style. This piece dates to their later period 200-600 AD. The Mezcala artifacts were valued by other cultures as well. Mezcala artifacts have been recovered in Aztec sites, Teotihuacan, and others. The half dollar is for size comparison only and is not included in this auction. I combine shipping. Thanks for looking. 16.RcmdId ViewItemDescV4,RlogId p4%60bo7%60jtb9%3Feog4d71f%2B%3E16%3E-14bb066528c-0x11c-

Awesome Mezcala Mayan Jade Ear Rings Pre-Columbian Ancient Artifacts NR
Hi. I have an awesome pair of Mezcala ear studs for auction. These are very cool and very rare. I have only seen a couple like these over the last 20 years. They are carved from jade. There is an ancient fracture on the post of one of them, but it is stable. I tried to get a picture of it. I purchased these several years ago from an old collection. These are very cool ancient artifacts that are still wearable. These date 200 BC- 600 AD. There are visible mineral deposits on the faces of them. These would be an awesome addition to any collection. Don't miss the opportunity to own these beauties, you probably won't see anything like them again. I use a half dollar for size comparison and it is not included in this auction. I can combine shipping. Thanks for looking.

Mezcala Collection Stone Bone Coral Ancient Artifacts Pre-Columbian Mayan NR
Hi. I have a great collection of Mezcala Guerro artifacts for auction. The majority of these artifacts are stone. There is one bone piece that had to be for draining liquid or something similar. There is a coral stamp artifact. This appears to be coral or a light volcanic stone. It has handle feature that makes me think that this was used as a pottery stamp. There is a Mezcala axe figure made out of volcanic stone. There is a stone piece that looks like it was being made into a pendant. In the same picture is a cresent shaped stone piece. It might have been used for gouging and marking things. There are 2 stone perforated discs, probably used for beads. There is a stone scraper. Lastly there is an awesome mottled stone bead with four drilled holes. These all came from an old collection. These artifacts date to 200 BC-400AD. These would look ... moregreat in a display together. These are some great pieces of history, that now can be yours. I use a half dollar for size comparison and it is not included in this auction.
