He has good manganese deposits and still remnants of color from the original glaze after 2000 years. He at one point had some broken parts, but, was put back together. Which is acceptable in the pre Columbian collecting hobby) as, some countries wont let you take a complete piece or figure out their country, so, one would have to kill or damage the piece to take it out of the country, That is why you see many pieces missing a hand or a foot ect. They cam from the Imre and Nicholas T. Molnar collection that they accumulated from 1960-1978. This is a very unique artifact. I haven't seen one quite like this. The whistle is broken. Hi. I have a nice Mayan figure vessel for auction. I don't know if you could call this a vessel. Typically a vessel is for holding liquid. This figure is of a woman. If you were to pour water in it would come out between her legs. This artifact was obviously buried for a long time. There is still ancient dirt inside of it. There are mineral deposits from age. This came from the estate of Fred Lee. He was a coin dealer in Quincy Illinois for a large number of years and owned and operated Gem City Coin on Main Street. He had a private collection of artifacts, Asian and mask from all over the world. I do not know the origin of this item or its age. It could be from the 1900s it could be hundreds of years old I really don't know. There are gold flecks in the pottery. There is a chip in the beak/mouth area. Awesome Olmec Rare Stone Figure Pre-Columbian Ancient Artifact Mayan NR
Hi. I have an incredible Olmec stone figure for auction. The Olmec figure is laying on his side and he is holding two offering bowls, with his legs behind him. I'm not sure what type of stone this is, but there are parts that shine like mica. I took a picture of the head to show one of the spots. I have seen Olmec figures with offering bowls before, but never two bowls. I feel this is very for a number of reasons: the age 800-200 BC, the type of stone, the two offering bowls, and the fact that it is just plain awesome. There are numerous deposits, and some chipping and weathering. This has been one of my favorites for many years. I acquired this from an old collection. This figure is bound to the bed which usually means that it was a medial patient. The straps were to hold them down while they were being operated on so that they couldn't move during surgery. Hi. I have an awesome Veracruz Totonac platform figure for auction. This figure is of an old seated man. This great figure was discovered in the ruins of Cerro De La Mesa in Veracruz. This old man came from the Totonac Culture and dates 500-700AD. I have seen other very similar platform figures that were called Coast Watchers. This old figure has large ear spools, a neck ornament, and headdress. When I first bought this many years ago, I thought that half of the headdress was missing. I believe that is the way the headdress was designed to look, as there is no sign of the other part being attached or broken off.
