Pre-Columbian Mexican Sitting Figural Vessel Nayarit Culture. 250 BC- 200 AD ~ please scroll down for more photos ~ Pre-Columbian terra cotta figural ... morevessel from Western Mexico. Nayarit Culture. 250 BC to 200 AD. SIZE: Height- 8.25" 12 cm) Width- 4.5" 11.5 cm) Depth- 3.5" 9 cm) An anthropomorphic male sitting figure. Leaning forward with his left hand holding an object in, or up to his mouth. His right hand is on his right knee. The figure has foreshortened legs, long curving arms of unequal length, a flattened face with a proportionate nose and coffee bean eyes. He is wearing multiple ear spools. This figure's head. Body, and legs are hollow and there is a large round opening at the top of his head, making the piece into a vessel as well as a figure. The figure's hair is cut into bangs across the forehead and the details of the hair were inscribed into the clay before firing. The neckline also has dimension and is raised up from the body. Depicting the figure to be wearing clothing. The surface of the figure is of the red burnished- polished clay and there are remnants of white and possibly black slip pigments painted on the face. There may have been yellowish designs on the chest. As well, but if so they hardly visible now. The surface shows dark dimensional manganese deposits in many areas. And some light encrustations of dirt and other substances in the crevices. This piece is between 1.800 and 2,250 years old. It was collected during the 1940's and was obtained from an old San Francisco collection. Condition: This piece is in good excavated condition with no losses. The following is noted: A tight. Stable, very thin hairline extending from the front of the figure's throat, over his right shoulder, to the back of his neck. It appears that there is a very old repair where the upper left part of the head has been glued back after a separation. A line showing this runs under his left eye, up the forehead and hair and down the back of his head and over the left ear(please see photos

It was brought to a church for their yard sale and the pastor decided that it would be better sold at auction. Please feel free to ask questions. My shipping fees are based on the package weight and priced according to the Post Office. I do not include a handling or material fee. I will combine purchases.
Pre-Columbian group of 3, yes, 3 Peruvian pieces. Guaranteed .Authentic
3 Peruvian pieces. The first. A seated figure is 6-3/4" tall, with a red burnished slip. The broken off spout would add about 1-3/4" more. The spout part is not complete. Apparently missing the very top part. The figure is broken and reglued as the photos show. Had I the time I'd enjoy restoring it. But that must be left for the next owner. The second. A low flattened bowl about 5" x 3 3/8" appears to have no restoration other than a very small rim chip reglued and a breaking wave design incised around the top and dark brown burnished surface. The third has a globular body with a tall. Thick spout with linear designs and many small, circular incisions. Height is approximately 5-1/4" and about 4" wide. The first bowl is late Mochica; and I'm afraid there isn't enough information to know the cultures ... moreof the second two. The Lands Beyond is a 45 year old brick and mortar Pre-Columbian gallery. A wonderful. Well provenanced, published ancient Pre-Columbian stirrup spouted vessel in the form of a walking monkey, from the Chimu culture, dating to 1400- 1450 A.D. LOT 3 CLAY FIGURES PRE COLUMBIAN PERUVIAN POTTERY ARTIFACTS 3 STATUES
Sometimes I see very rare and special antiquities collected by old Charleston families going through our local high end estate sales and such is the case with these three marvelous ancient pre Columbian Peruvian pottery figures. These terrific antique clay figures measure 4.75 inches tall by 4.5 inches long; 4.5 inches tall by 4 inches long; and 3 inches tall by inches long. Respectively. I've included numerous pictures in an attempt to accurately represent their design, quality, condition and overall beauty. Though I am not an expert in pre Columbian artifacts. It's very clear this wonderful group of ancient pottery figures are quite special and not something easy to come by. When they came to the auction where they sold, all that was known is that they had been in the grandfather's collections going back to the early 1900's ... morebut no other specific information as to whom or how they were originally obtained was provided, though it was clearly long ago and many years prior to any regulations limiting export so such historically relevant pieces by collectors and tourists. The only information with the figures was a hand written note stating they were of the pre Columbian Chimu culture, Peru 900-1470. To ship these incredible ancient collectibles. I would require they shipped via signature service UPS or USPS, fully insured for selling price. I am willing to sell and ship these artifacts internationally however I would require they be shipped via Priority Express International(USPS)with signature service at delivery and as well as buyer assuming all in country taxes and fees upon arrival. Certainly museum quality. This group of three Peruvian pre Columbian figures is certainly a rare and special find and I hope they find a very special home, whether museum or personal collection, where they will be loved and appreciated for their beauty and historical value. Please do visit my ebay store to see the wide variety of other fine antique and vintage collectibles I have available through separate auctions i

PRECOLUMBIAN PRE-COLUMBIAN INCA MOCHE CHIMU AZTEC MAYAN ANCIENT PERUVIAN #3
Beyond stating that it is Mayan and genuine. I am not sure what function this apparently complete feline head would have served(if any- possibly just a votive talisman- Note the Fangs! It is complete and intact and measures just over 3" in length. Traces of white pigment remain. As noted, it is complete in itself. Shipping and handling in the US is $15; overseas will vary. PRECOLUMBIAN PRE-COLUMBIAN INCA MOCHE CHIMU AZTEC MAYAN ANCIENT PERUVIAN #2
This marvelous head was most probably placed over a second figure and worn as a"helmet" or a mask. This approach occurs on many Vera Cruz and Mayan pieces. Often associated with warriors or ball game figures. My guess is that this piece is most likely Vera Cruz. As noted, it is complete in itself and retains traces of both white and red pigment. One small apparent loss to the headband/headdress. The piece measures just over 2-1/2" in height. Shipping and handling in the US is $15; overseas will vary. As with every item I sell, authenticity is absolutely guaranteed. PLEASE NOTE: I SELL AND SHIP WORLDWIDE
PRECOLUMBIAN PRE-COLUMBIAN INCA MOCHE CHIMU AZTEC MAYAN ANCIENT PERUVIAN #1
This fragment captures the typical aristocratic facial profile that is characteristic of classic Mayan pottery. It is free of any restoration and measures just under 3" in height. Pre Columbian Chimu Peruvian Whistling Vessel - 1470 AD
A wonderful ancient pre-Columbian whistling vessel. From the Chimu culture, dating to approximately 1470- 1532 A.D. An attractive burnished. Double chambered bottle in the form of a stylized bird. One chamber of globular form with flattened base and narrow tapered spout. The second chamber joined at the lower body by a cylindrical watercourse and at the top by a strap handle. The body and neck of the second chamber modelled in the form of a stylized bird, with wings, legs and head. Added linear decoration in red. Upon blowing into the spout. A beautiful whistling sound is produced, possibly intended to replicate the sound of the bird depicted on the vessel. This same noise that we can hear today would have enchanted the ancient Peruvians who created this enigmatic piece. Until conquered by the Inca in the fifteenth century. The Chimu ruled ... moremuch of the coast around their capital of Chan Chan in northern Peru. Ancient Peruvians left no written records, thus their material remains are the only existing link to this long gone and intriguing ancient people. Pre-Columbian Chimu Peruvian Blackware Ceremonial Puffer Fish Vessel 850-1470 AD
Hi, As my regular customers already know I present items for sale that are exquisite. High quality, and unique. More importantly I present a collection of quality items at great prices. Even the vintage collectibles are affordably priced for the true collector. Today I present to you this highly collectible and unique Pre-Columbian Chimu Peruvian Blackware Ceremonial Figural Puffer Fish Vessel ca. 850-1470 AD. This Chimu blackware ceremonial figural vessel came out of an old historic estate in San Antonio. Texas. A recent valuation was done on the Chimu ceremonial vessel by an expert valuer of ancient Peruvian artifacts. Please see his summary valuation below: Description Attributed to the mature Chimu civilization before the metallurgy period. The vessel is indeed that of a puffer fish ceremonial vessel and the condition does show extensive ... moreloss of the blackware effect. Showing the red clay body. Chimu pottery reflects the symbolic and iconographic representations involving the people's relationship with the sea, such as fish, clam shells, waves and sea birds. The majority of Peruvian pottery is black, characterized by a distinctive metallic black-grey look. It is estimated that 95% of such pottery was produced within the Chimu culture during its dominance along the north coast of Peru(circa 850- 1470 A.D. Also there was less mass production in the Peruvian highlands. The fish vessel was made for an offering at burials. Chimu ceremonial blackware vessels do come up at auction and retail frequently. And also in many art galleries across the country. The most highly valued Chimu pottery is that of the very early Chimu culture(not blackware) Your figure is of a later date and not considered entirely Pre-Columbian. The figure is not as elaborate as some late Chimu burial vessels, and this does affect the value as well as its condition. Insurance value: $2000.00. Date: Circa 850- 1470 A.D. As mentioned in the valuation. The Chimu people(AD 850-1470) of Peru produced distinctive blackware pottery out of red

Pre Columbian Chimu Lambayeque Pottery Peruvian Double Spout Vessel - 700 AD
A pre-Columbian Lambayeque-Chimu culture double spout vessel. Dating to 700– 1200 AD. This footed vessel has three sharply divided sections; a ring base. Body with a sharp ridge at the shoulder and two long, tapered spouts with an arched bridge handle. Beautiful painted decoration covers the majority of the tan slip. At first glance this exuberant vessel might appear to be decorated with simple scenes from the natural world. Yet look closer and it is in fact telling a story of the supernatural. A tale of immortality that was popular long before the Spanish arrived on the shores of South America. A story passed down through countless generations, it shows the legend of Naymlap, the fearless founder of a centuries old dynasty that ruled the Lambayeque Valley. Naymlap was a mysterious lord who arrived from the north with a vast fleet of totora ... morerafts carrying a huge entourage that included his chief wife. His personal guard of forty warriors and an embroider of his feathered shirts. Having come to shore at the mouth of a great river, the group walked inland and founded a settlement which came to dominate the surrounding lands. Throughout his long reign, the people enjoyed peace and prosperity. So popular was Naymlap that when his death finally came, it was kept secret by his attendants who feared the repercussions and they buried him in the same room where he had lived. To explain his mysterious disappearance, they claimed the revered old man had evaded death by learning to fly and gliding up to the heavens for an immortal existence. This theme is encapsulated in on the vessel. We see Naymlap riding atop the crest of a rainbow symbolising ritual flight and flanked by two attendants. He wears the crown and projecting ear ornamentation one associates with Lambayeque nobility. Meanwhile the row of birds running along the shoulder is likely an allegory of the hero’s flight into heaven. This remarkable artefact shows not only the story of Naymlap, but how pre-literate societies used the visual arts to communicate their
