Acquired by the collecting family's grandfather while living and working in Peru and inherited over the past 2 generations. This fantastic reconstructed bowl has not been repainted but bears many figures and colors as well as symbols of the ancient moche or slightly later inhabitants of northern peru known as nasca pottery which is numbered in scale as it progressed in complicatedeness. This is the first piece I am offering and it is the first time it has been offered for sale since the 1950's! This is a Vintage Chulucanas Handmade Nazca Design Pottery Vase. Nazca- black line design with a monkey on one side and a reptile on the other. This is an unusual vase in that it has canteen shape with a very narrow opening on top. Like a slit. Pretty coloring in red, turquoise, blue. And beige with black accents. The vase is signed on the bottom by Alex Ramirez. There is a"CH" below his name which I would take to be an abbreviation for Chulucanas. Also a sticker that says"Made in Peru. The vase is about 5 1/2" tall. 4 1/4" wide and about 2 3/4" deep. Overall. It is in very good condition. FINE NAZCA BRIDGE HANDLE BIRD VESSEL, AS PICTURED IN BOOK. PRE COLUMBIAN, PERU
Fine Nazca Pottery bridge spout bird vessel from Peru. These are dated to the late Nazca@ 750 A.D. I have taken pictures of a identical bird in a book on Nazca cultures on pg. 159 this bird measures 7 1/4" tall and about 7 1/2" long. This bird is solid and has no damage or repair, there is some wear to the paint and shows good age and deposits, please see pictures for condition. This is from a old Hollywood Calif. collection that was obtained after WW-2 1946-1949. I will give info to winning bidder. Guaranteed Authentic.
