Black and cream, it features bands painted with various geometric motifs, some linear in nature, others curvilinear. These bowls convey images of esoteric knowledge in the form of pseudo-glyphs and references to mythology. It measures 7 inches in diameter by 3 inches in height(7.62 cm by 17.7 cm) and dates to the Maya Classical Period(300-900 A.D. During this period. The Maya began using polychrome slip paint, meaning they used many different colors to decorate the pots. This method of decoration became almost homogeneous for Mayan potters, thus signaling the beginning of the Classic Period. The pot shows wear consistent with a dating to this period, and generally is in very good condition, with rubbing, minor scratches, tiny chips and wear showing on the inside. It is guaranteed authentic and would make a superb addition to any collection of Pre-Columbian ceramics. Superb Authentic Pre-Columbian Mixtec Penate ex. Arte Primitivo
I am re-listing this piece as the winning bidder wished to string it on a necklace for her to wear. Please be advised that when the piece was made the suspension holes were placed midways down the back(as can be seen in the pic) therefore it will NOT hang down vertically. This piece needs to be displayed for what it is, an outstanding piece of Pre-Columbian art. Not the biggest, but one of the most colorful Pre-Columbian Mixtec culture penates I have encountered. A really beautiful pale blue/green jade that I have seen some Olmec pieces also made of. This penate measures just under 1& 3/8" and is ex. Arte Primitivo and guaranteed 100% authentic. Superb Pre-Columbian Chorrera stamp seal/sello
This listing is for the best Pre-Columbian stamp seal I have ever owned. I obtained this one in a collection of a local collector who had a penchant for stamp seals. He had 10 in his Pre-Columbian collection and this was the best. This piece has a lot going for it. Most importantly the iconography. The stamp seal contains 3 panels,each showing a stylized pregnant female in the birthing position.very rare to find depictions like that. I could see this stamp being used for a Pre-Columbian version of our baby shower or birth celebration. Also quite unusual, the handle is a rattle too(not very loud today though) From the Chorrera culture of Ecuador, it is intact save a chip on top front. Also has correct patination, manganese deposits and remnants of ancient pigment, all great indicators of it's authenticity. The figure is in excellent condition, the only concern I could find are(1) a small scratch to one side; and(2) there may be a small flake lost on of of the ears(see last 2 photos) This is about as nice as you will find for such a piece. Your figure. Appears to be, is from the"shaft and chamber tomb" culture of West Mexico(Nayarit, Jalisco and Colima) which dates to roughly 300BC-AD300. To further refine the description it is an Jalisco"Ameca style" figure circa 250BC-AD200.

This object was face of a Bat Deity. Seen holding whiskers behind his head with hands, and a spout on the back side representing his tail. There is a traditional incised line and dot design pattern running around the shoulder of the vessel. The Vessel measures@ 8 1/4" tall x 9 1/2" wide Nose to Tail. Hi. I have an awesome collectionof artifacts for auction. These amazing relics are in great condition and most have original paint. Some of these are from Teotihuacan and some are Mayan. The axe(and a second one running currently in a diff auction) came to me some 20 years ago from a Geology engineers estate.
