Hi. I have an incredible Mayan monkey bead for auction. This ancient stone artifact appears to be jade or a mottled jade. It has the face and body of ... morethe monkey on front, and its tail in back. I was trying to get good pictures of the inside of this piece. It was bi-conically drilled. There is a fairly large h at either end, but you can only see a small hole when looking thru it. The person that made this many years ago, worked like heck to get the hole thru it. It has mineral deposits thru out this piece. I purchased this many years ago from an ol collection. This awesome Mayan monkey would look great mounted on a display. I have always liked this one. I use the half dollar for size comparison only and it is not included in this auction. I combine shipping. Thanks for looking.

Large Rare Antique Pre Columbian Ancient Maya Mayan Tlaloc Rain God Head
to see all the beautiful pieces of Jade and Asian Antiques we have for sale. Above is a video preview of our other items that we have listed or will be listed shortly. I have many wonderful antique Chinese jades for sale right now. Above is a preview. Age: Pre Columbian Size: Large 6.25 x 6 x 4 inches thick Description: Large size stone(limestone? head. This piece was described as Mayan by the seller when they originally bought it. Originally it had a lucite mount that it sat on and this stand which had a metal plaque and a dedication broke during a moving of houses sometime in the 80s. Owners neglected to fix stand and stand was eventually lost. So I'm really shooting from the hip and would very much appreciate any information from anyone with more expertise could share. Carved as a figure's head with some large round earrings and/or ... moreear deformation. Some kind of large ring seems to pierce from the lower lip to the underside of chin. Lots of wear and weathering is visible. Nose is large and pointed with good definition. Mayan and the demon/deity is Tlaloc the rain god. Who demanded the tears of children. The Mayan priests tore the children's fingernails out to make them cry, then drowned them in a well. The demon/deity is depicted with fangs and goggle eyes. submitted by an eBay user Provenance: From an important New England collection. Material: Limestone? Condition: Condition is what should be expected considering age. See photos for more info on condition. My lack of knowledge here can hopefully be made up for in the photos. This item is being listed with a buy-it-now price. You can make an offer. Offers below seller's minimum price will be automatically refused. Please ask all questions prior to bidding. I will either issue you a refund OR put the Difference in the Box. I acquired these Pieces in Mexico. In March 2007. The farmer told me that he found them on his land at some ruins. I am not sure what culture they belong to; but by the Looks of some ... moreof their Faces. I would suspect them to be Pre- Columbian Smurfs: I had to smuggle them out of Mexico; hidden in a spare tire. The Federally check point missed them; even though they Totally Tore Apart My Car. I do not believe them to be Thousands or even Hundreds of years old Artifacts; But. I did not want to take a chance. Most Likely they are replicas made by the Farmer. I have included pictures of the place where they were supposedly found. They would make EXCELLENT Garden accessories; or even display pieces in ones Study. They are made of some kind of Stone(like Sandstone) or an Anthropic Rock. There are no Chips or Cracks. The white markings you see on them are discolorations. The Pictures were taken in California in 2007; and they have been stored away ever since. There is no combined shipping. As EACH will need its own Large Flat Rate Box because of their Size. Any other Questions Please ask.

Rare & Important Pre-Columbian Maya/Jaina Figure w/ROGERS COA
Here is an unusual hollow ceramic figural whistle in the form of a garbed standing figure holding a large rasp or percussion instrument in the crook of his right arm. A striker in his left hand. Most significantly, he wears a duck-bill buccal(mouth) mask. Pre-Columbian representations of humans wearing duck-bill masks are rare but not entirely unknown. The best-known example is the“Tuxtla Statuette” now in the Smithsonian Institute. Another“human/duck” combination exists on alter 7 at La Venta. And a third is found on monument 5 at Cerro de Las Mesas. The most recently-published example was uncovered in Chiapas; a ceramic jar dating to 1400-1250 B.C.E. depicts a human upper face with a duck beak projecting from just beneath the nose. It appears likely that this figure is either a mythical being(note the pronounced eyebrows and cheeks) or ... morea shaman in the process of transforming into zoomorphic form. Birds. Especially migrating birds, were believed to carry the soul of a deceased person to the resting place of the dead. Referring to the human/duck-bill relationship, Robert Rosenswig has written, It is also significant that this mythical being. And/or religious specialist dressed as a duck, has now been documented from the nearly the beginning of ceramic use in Mesoamerica and so may even have a preceramic origin. Calcareous accretions and traces of“Maya Blue” pigment adhere to the figure. Which measures 5.5" 14 cm) x 3" 7.6 cm) x 2.25" 5.7 cm) Legs restored and in very good overall condition. JAINA ISLAND. Large Pre-Columbian Maya Plate, Museum Deaccession
Large Pre-Columbian Maya Plate. Museum Deaccession Click on these links to view larger photos: 1- 2- 3- 4- 5- 6 A large Maya polychrome tripod plate. Circa 600 A.D. 900 A.D. Museum deaccession. This example measures about 12" across, and includes acrylic display stand, as shown. It features white, yellow, brown, orange and red pigments to depict a finely rendered individual seated upon a bench, who is either receiving or inspecting pottery goods, perhaps for purchase or as gifts/tribute. The fact that the individual is shown seated upon the bench is significant. And implies not only elite status, but also power and authority in Maya iconography- often indicative of a ruler. This important individual is also shown wearing fine clothing and adornments, and body paint/pigment. Bands of glyphs are featured near different items at four separate ... moreplaces in the scene, perhaps serving as descriptive or naming labels for the different items shown. The inner rim of the plate features geometric designs including step-frets. It sits upon three tripod legs and even has decorative banded patterns on the back/underside. Condition: This plate was broken in ancient times and has been re-glued from large fragments(best seen from the back) With very little loss in the breaklines. Minor fill has been used where small gaps may have existed in the breaklines. The breaklines do not interfere with the figural portion of the scene in a distracting way. Minor pigment loss, erosion, chipping and abrasions overall. The plate displays impressively as-is, retaining it's archaeological integrity, or it may be professionally restored, if desired. All areas of the figure and the scene retain enough of the original line so that it could easily by touched up by a competent restorer to revitalize the scene, if so desired. Provenance: Museum de-accession. Former Pine Crest School Museum collection, Fort Lauderdale, FL, USA. Assurance of Authenticity: All items offered by Riverbend Gallery have been carefully examined and deemed authentic an

Mold made figures of ten appear to lack crispness due to soft set in the mold and/or erosion. This one is mint crisp. Pre Columbian representation Maya Pipil group Terracotta chief's rattle vessel
Standing on three jaguar heads. This vessel honors the legacy of Guatemala Maya culture. It was designed and made by artist Oscar Rodolfo Mendoza and it recreates a wonderful ceramic trichrome Chief's jar after those found in the Mayans of Guatemala, Pipil group. Marvelous piece complete with signs of aging and burial with mineral deposits. A great tableaux of chiefs and iconic representations surround this vessel. It has rattle legs and legs are jaguar head figures. The Mayan Pre Columbian artifact appears as a classic discovery piece with antiquity built in. Wonderful for the collector and lover of Mayan artifacts. The same techniques and dyes were used as were used over a thousand years to make this piece of art incredibly authentic looking. Painted with colors obtained from dyes obtained from achiote seeds as well s acrylic paint. ... moreA stunning depiction When I visited Ecuador I visited woman who made her own colors from natural dyes. She crushed a but into a red drop that could be manipulated with other colors of orange. Yellow, and purples to make dyes for coloring alpaca clothing. Culture: Mayan. Maya – Teotihuacan Large Cylinder Authentic Pre-Columbian
Maya– Teotihuacan Large Cylinder Authentic Pre-Columbian The economy is killing me. And I am forced to sell more of my extensive Pre-Columbian antiquities collection. Bidding starts low with no reserve! Description: Rare large Pre-Classic Teotihuacan-Mayan cylinder depicting Ant God Azcatl and maize kernels. This piece originally had three slab-style pedestal feet that have been lost to antiquity. This has a dark red background with lighter red zoomorphic design of the story of the Ant God Azcatl: Shortly after creating the new race of humans. Quetzalcoatl realized that he had to feed them or they would all die. Fortuitously, he saw Azcatl, a red ant, scurrying by with a kernel of corn in his jaws. Quetzalcoatl immediately asked where such food could be found, but Azcatl refused at first to reveal the secret. After some bullying, Azcatl finally ... morerelented and took Quetzalcoatl to Tonacatepetl, where Quetzalcoatl had to transform into a black ant in order to follow Azcatl through the narrow cracks through the mountain. Deep inside Quetzalcoatl discovered a massive store of corn which Azcatl guarded. Quetzalcoatl took some back with him where he and the other gods chewed on the maize to create a corn mash that they could feed to the infant humans, thus allowing them to survive and grow. This is an important piece that portrays the cosmopolitan nature of the Teotihuacano empire and their willingness to accept outsiders(who were often fleeing volcanic eruptions which had buried their corn crops) Ancient stable chips on rim and well-worn interior as seen in photos. A great artifact for disaster researchers! A note about shipping costs: I double box all of my antiquities with sufficient packing and allowing for crush-space. This means the outside box dimension is many times the size of the actual item. And actual shipping expenses are higher than I am charging for the auction. The good news is, I have yet to have a 2000+ year old artifact arrive broken(at least not more broken that it was when I shipped it! Catego
