IL- ... moreFar west Chicago suburbs) UP FOR AUCTION: A gorgeous. Vintage, Art Deco, walnut waterfall-style cedar-lined blanket or hope chest. Elegant contrasting veneer inlay work on front center. It's unmarked as to maker. I think it's likely circa early to mid-1900s. I believe it's in original condition. It has one interior. Multi-sectioned drawer on hinges(in need of minor repair-see below) It's constructed of walnut veneer with cedar lining, and secondary hardwood(s) The back is unfinished. Wonderful for storage and display or seating, it's both beautiful and superbly useful. CONDITION: Overall. I think it's in nice vintage condition. Solid and sturdy. Only the tiniest bit of veneer loss that I can see: a few tiny chips along the back edge. Minor nicks, imperfections normal to vintage furniture. It does have some flaws: 1) the top surface has superficial scratches and age-related splits in the veneer(but they seem shallow enough to me that I think just polyurethane(were the top refinished) and/or a walnut-tone pore filler would be enough to fill them for a flawless(or nearly so) top. 2) In the interior. Lid, left side, the wood affixing the screw supporting the pull-out shelf is stripped(please see photos; the drawer is just propped in place in the photo) so is in need of this repair. I'd probably suggest filling the oversized hole with wood scraps and glue to fill, then redrilling the hole(possibly a larger screw would work) this is left to the buyer. 3) The locks on these old chests pose a safety hazard to children(won't open from within; children can suffocate inside) and can't be sold with the lock in place. I've removed and discarded it. Leaving just the hardware(for aesthetics) so it simply opens and closes, and can be opened from inside. The buyer, if he/she desires a working lock, can probably purchase one through ebay or vi

The headboard and footboard are original but I think the steel rails replaced wooded one that probably came with the original set. This set has the chest of drawers and vanity with all matching pulls with bakelight accents. Some of the bakelite edges are scuffed or chipped. For its age this set is in remarkable condition. Art Deco Waterfall Antique Five Piece Bedroom Set 1930s
Up for auction is a beautiful. Five piece, waterfall art deco bedroom set from the 1930s. It has its original varnish finish over book matched veneer and is in excellent condition for its age. The dresser has a small chip to the veneer on the right back side, the vanity has an area of dissolved varnish on the top left side(probably from a perfume spill at some point) the headboard was split and repaired along the right join arm(the piece that anchors the headboard to the frame- the repair is invisible when there is a mattress on the frame) and the footboard and siderails have numerous scratches. Overall, there is no major damage to the set and it looks great as-is. There was originally a rectangular stool that went with the vanity. This is a gorgeous. Hard to find bedroom set from Jan 1942. Full size bed frame includes head and foot board and slats. Tallboy dresser with corner trays in top drawer in each corner, vanity with mirror and chair(mirror became detached from it's frame when I hauled it home, just needs a couple new clips) cedar chest aka hope chest is beautiful, has felt lined shelf, working lock and key. Dove tail construction on all pieces. Minor wear as would be expected in furniture of this age. There is chipping of the veneer on the front bottom of the cedar chest in one spot. Maybe form shoes bumping into it. I took pictures of it. This is the worst that I saw, other than some minor dings or scratches, again, common in furniture of this age. Excellent shape overall. Rare Antique Art Deco Waterfall Style 1930s-3 Pc Bedroom Set-Bed, Vanity & Chest
Gorgeous estate find! Waterfall style set that needs some refinishing and touching up. There are lots of nicks. Spots, wear, and chipped laminate throughout the set that needs some TLC. The footboard of the bed needs to be re-secured/attached to the posts. It has a slot end that fits into the hole on the post and might just need some wood glue. There are rollers on the bottom of the pieces that are missing but can be easily replaced. The drawers are dovetailed and the mirror to the vanity is original. You are bidding on a 4 piece Art Deco Waterfall Bedroom Set. Probably from the 1940's. This set is in good condition for its age but it is not perfect. There are some small pieces of veneer that are missing or damaged. I noticed a slight waterstain probably from a sweating glass and some other stains and scratchs. Some of this may polish out but I doubt it. The set includes a Full Size Headboard and Footboard but DOES NOT include the side rails. There are places on the headboard and footboard where there is evidence of wear. There is a 3 drawer Dresser with a large mirror. The mirror glass is in good condition with some slight clouding but no chips or cracks. The carved detail of the mirror looks to be in very good conditon. There is a small night stand and a Vanity Dresser with Mirror. One of the drawers in the night stand has come apart ... moreand will need repair. It looks to me that all the pieces are still there and this should be an easy repair. This mirror is in slightly better conditon as I noticed no clouding. A 1930's Art Deco"waterfall" style bedroom set which includes a dresser with"waterfall" mirror. A vanity with"waterfall" mirror, a bench to go with the vanity, a gentleman's chest with hidden mirror(see picture) a double bed with queen-size rail extenders and"waterfall" headboard and footboard, and a marble-top bedside table. The marble is in excellent condition. The overall condition of the set is fair with considerable wear on all of the surfaces. All of the hardware is intact. Three Piece Set. Five Drawer Dresser, Vanity With Mirror and Upholstered Settee. This bedroom set is a beautiful example of what"real furniture" looked like"in the day" With a few exceptions these pieces are in great condition. I will describe those exceptions as best I can. 1) The mirror has a few dings on the back along two edges that I'm sure can be repaired. There is also some backing on the glass that could use repair. It is in the lower left center. 2. On the dresser three of the drawers have some delamination. shown in pictures) 3. One knob on the dresser and one knob on the vanity have been broken and repaired.

Matching Art Deco Waterfall Style Vanity & Dresser
I'm downsizing from a four-bedroom home to a 2-bedroom. So I have surplus furniture to sell. These two items are presumably part of a larger bedroom set that would originally have also included a bed and maybe a vanity chair and a couple of bedside tables, but all we have left are the three-drawer dresser and six-drawer vanity, both in the Art Deco"waterfall" style from the 1930's or 1940's, and both with matching drawer pulls, veneer graining and multi-sided beveled mirrors. The dresser is about 42" wide. 20" deep and 66" tall to the top of the mirror. It has some scuffs and scrapes and a few spots where the edges of the veneer have chipped or started to peel. The vanity dimensions(in the same order) are 45" 18" and 61" It has more noticeable veneer issues, including the chip that you can ... moresee on the front, just left of center, and some other areas where the veneer is cracking or peeling. The mirrors are removable. Which makes them easier to transport. Because we don't want to get involved in crating this item for shipping. We are advertising it as"local pickup only" and we are in Cornish, Maine. However, if you really want it shipped to distant parts, then e-mail us and we'll see what we can negotiate. Based on weight and dimensions, we know that the major commercial shipping companies will charge an arm and a leg(at least) but if you want to do your own research, let us know what you find.
