This antique bed certainly looks the part, and while it is in overall good condition, it does have a few items worth mentioning. The paint is flaking(see photos) and there is some surface rust, though this is nothing that will affect the display quality or functionality of the bed itself. At some point in its long history. The brass top bar was lost from the footboard. This again does not affect the stability of the bed. We have assembled it for show on several occasions, and all the parts fit perfectly and without the use of bolts or screws(again see photos) This, combined with the attached metal wheels, makes it easy to move around and store as well. The bed measures 79 inches long and 53 3/4 inches wide. With the actual bed frame coming out at 79 inches long, 54 1/2 inches wide, and 52 inches tall to the bed knob. Our research shows this will work with a full or double mattress, though bidders should be sure of the size of their mattresses before bidding, just to be sure. Beautiful Antique 1836 Single Bed Frame w/ Headboard and Footboard. Please read the background about this very special antique bed. I was contacted by a gentleman some months wanting for me to help him sell off some of his family's possessions. One of these was the bed you see pictured here which can accurately be dated to 1836. As indicated on the bill of lading. The same bill also tells us that it was shipped from Meredosia, Illinois, not far from Springfield, IL. Now that information itself wouldn't have any significant meaning if not coupled with the fact that my seller shared with me that this bed was purchased by one of his family members on the steps of the Springfield city hall at an auction. Add the fact that this bed has been altered to accommodate a taller person(the average height for a person back then was only 5'8" ... moreand now you're looking at an interesting scenario. What does this imply? You may ask. Abraham Lincoln was living in New Salem(Northeast of Meredosia and North of Springfield) at the time this bed was delivered in 1836. The destination of the bed's delivery is unknown. The bill of lading makes reference to the fact that the bed was shipped from Meredisia. IL- that's 80 miles to the west of Springfield, IL and 16 miles northeast of New Salem, IL where Lincoln lived 1833-1836. This bed was purchased in the past through the municipality of Springfield. IL. How did the city of Springfield come to own it? Abraham Lincoln was 6'4" tall and would have needed a custom built bed to sleep on- such as the one listed here. At the end of the day. This just adds up to be a bunch of circumstantial facts that MAY indicate that this bed was delivered in the same area and at the same time that Abraham Lincoln was also there. Antique Cast Iron Art Deco Style Bed Frame w/Original Rails Beautiful and dainty~lovely shabby find. Needs a tiny bit of tlc~ it's not been used for many years and has some surface rust. It's painted black; not sure how long that paint has been on. But there are some rusted spots over the paint so it's been on for quite a while, if not original. The rails slip into the end board pieces and it's very easy to put together. It may take a few taps with a hammer to get it in all the way. One of the sides has a small chunk out of the piece that the rail slips into, but once it's in there, it stays in place. It would be an easy repair. Antique Unbelievable Carved Full Double Pineapple Four Poster Bed Post Frame
Up for sale is an antique full/double sized Mahogany Pineapple post bed frame. The frame is in good shape but is in need of some TLC. The frame has some condition issues. Namely finish problems and marks, scratches but it is still a gorgeous frame. Chip in one of the pineapple's leaves. I photographed it copiously so you can see the details. The detailed worked posts are quite a unique feature. I am not able to identify the wood definitively but it is my guess that the main body of the headboard and footboard are mahogany veneer. The posts are likely solid since it would be near impossible to veneer them. The beams also appear to be veneered. The beam has a veneer that has chipped at the end. Jenny Lind Antique Walnut 3/4 Bed Frame - early 1900s
My parents bought me this bed in 1976 when I was a little girl. And of course it was an antique at that time. It has since been restored, enhancing its beautiful walnut color, and fits a 3/4 mattress. There are no wheels for the"feet" and it is structurally in very good condition since bought in 1976. I simply don't have room now and it's too pretty to store away. Needs a good home. Will not ship, for pick-up only.
