Antique Cast Iron Bed with Tapered Drop In Pin Cone Rails
This is an antique cast iron bed. It has a little rust but still extremely solid. It measures 43 inches by 6 feet and is 56 1/2 inches tall. It probably weighs over 100 pounds. The rails are original and use the tapered drop in cone type of assembly which is very convenient and well engineered because you don't need bolts. Welcome! For your consideration is an antique pair of iron bed rails- unusual- I was told these are hard to come by. They measure 55" long from end to end. They do have rust and pitting. But are strong and solid, no weak spots. One side of the attachment ends is smooth, the other side each has a raised area of iron that are uneven. Antique Bed Rail Single bed rail off a brass or iron bed. This rail features tapered pin ends. It is a FLAT TOP rail = the flat edge of the angle iron is up. See pictures as it is pictured like it mounts with the top side up. Your buying it"as found" it has not been cleaned and has heavy rust but is not rusted out. These often don't just drop in and fit your bed, 1/16" can make a big differance in fit. Customers have had excellent sucess at getting them to fit with some minor hand sanding or dremel tool work. Dimensions: 74 3/8" long from tip to tip. Length not including pins is 72 1/2" The pins are 1 3/4" tall, 15/16" wide at the top and taper down to 5/8" wide at the bottom and they protrude outward 7/8" at the top.
