The antique bed from the early 1900s is still beautiful and features stunning acanthus leaf ornamentation. Fabulous molded arched crest and absolutly amazing festoon wich consist of foliate motif with a beautiful garland. There are some minor repairs on the interior side of footboard(see photo#8) and discoloration on the slat due to age. There is also small piece of wood is missing on the left foot. This item is in good condition and the unit was partially restored a few years ago. The area below the bed springs was not restored at the same time and is of older and darker stain. The back side of the head board and foot board are non-restored. You can see this in the photos. However. The non-restored area of the front of the headboard will never be seen once the bed springs and a mattress are assembled. The bottom of the springs sit 10" off the ground. The width of the bed is 56 3/4 inches wide; length of bed is 80' long. The headboard is 73" tall and the foot board is 36" tall. The wood is beautiful quarter sawn Oak. The beauty of this bed lies in the detailed design and craftsmanship to the crest of the headboard and all 4 posts. There is beautiful scroll carving on each bedpost and the crest of the headboard. The ... morespring set appears to be original and in good solid condition. The side boards that hold the mattress are not original and appear to be replacements made of pine, but are intact and sturdy with hardware included. Same goes for 4 wood slats that assist in supporting the bed springs. Included are head board, foot board, side boards, box springs and hardware and 4 wood board slats. Mattress is not included. The bed was manufactured in Altamont. IL according to the paper manufacturer label on back of head board. The label is only a partial label and manufacturer name is illegible.You can pick this bed up in Broadlands, Illlinois, or you can arrange to have a freight company of your choice ship the bed to you. I do not know the exact weight of the bed. Bed must be accepted in"as is" condition. It is a very nice antique piece, and I would love to keep it, but my upstairs bedrooms have dormers and headboard is too tall for the area I would place the bed!

Here is an absolutely fabulous find in wonderful condition. And carefully adapted for use as a queen size bed. a 1922 production quartersawn oak barley twist bed headboard and footboard and matching mirrored dresser. The dresser has a lovely beveled mirror, original teardrop hardware and casters, dovetailed drawer construction and the same beautifully turned barley twist columns as the carved headboard and footboard. Both piece are tagged with the brass C.W. S. Pelaw on Tyne tags of the English Co-Operative Wholesale Society and pencil dated within their stamped 4/8/1922. I've included a number of photographs from all sides and tried to highlight the features outlined here including the tags and stamp marks. This dresser stands 62 1/2 inches tall by 35 1/2 inches wide by 18 inches. Front to back. The lovely beveled mirror is in very nice ... morecondition and is 23 1/2 inches wide by 18 inches tall. The shelf 6 3/4 inches above the top surface across the back has two small drawers, 6 3/4 inches wide by 4 1/2 inches front to back by 2 1/4 inches deep. The three dresser drawers are 29 inches wide by 14 3/4 inches front to back by 5 1/4. 6 1/4 and 7 1/4 inches deep, in descending order, respectively. The beautiful carved barley twist head board and footboard are in lovely condition and have been adapted from their original full size to fittings for rails to make it queen size as is currently generally preferred. There is 54 inches between the original posts(full size width) but the modern adaptation involves attached boards 62 inches in width. With screws set for rails to be set at the queen size 60 inch width. I show a close up of this simple adaptation as well as these pieces from both sides. Bed rails are not included. The beautiful quartersawn oak wood grains, carvings and fabulous turned barley twist columns that really make this incredible early 20th century English bedroom group. Antique Oak Captains Bed
Believed to be of French origin. This period piece bed served our daughter well all the way to high school. Very sturdy and held together with tongue and groove and steel bolts with forged knobbed heads(see picture) Inside measurements are 47.5" x 74" Very good condition. 2 small(2 inch) pieces of decorative trim are missing on the posts. When purchased from the reputable firm of Lyman Drake Antiques in Newport. Calif. in the late 1970's we were informed it was at least 100-125 years old. Item is in Mesquite. Nevada on Interstate 15 1 hour north of Las Vegas, NV and less than 1 hour south of St. George, Utah.

One of the nicer, heavily carved oak bedroom sets from the 1920's-1930's ... morethat we have had in our 35 years of the antique business. This is an astounding multi type wood set, with oak being the primary wood. It comes with a wonderful full size, unbelievable carved bed, an extra large carved mirrored dresser, an unusual tall chest, a beautiful carved chair, one of the most unusual, gorgeous vanities with a French shape design that makes it really rare. The set is a mixture of wood: it has burl walnut, straight grain walnut, olive burl ash, straight grain ash, tiger sawn oak, straight grain oak, and unimaginable carved details. The mirrors are original with a deep, beveled acid cut, so it shows an outside edge that really isn't beveled, but is cut to look like it is beveled and they have an age-old haziness to it that has a lot of character. Where a lot of people would replace the mirrors, we would much rather keep the beveled, deep routed cut that is in the glass than replace it with modern day glass. The glass that is in it cannot be duplicated, all that you could do is replace it with modern plate glass. The set has been refinished in our own restoration shop, and has come out beautifully. Heirloom Golden OAK bed frame and matching dresser- estate furniture c 1900
This bedroom set has been in my mother's family for 5 generations. I'm not sure of the exact age. I am not a dealer, but my calculations it puts it as most likely late 1800's or maximum early 1920's. There are some minor cosmetic dings and damage, but it's in amazing condition for 100+ years old, especially considering we all used it growing up. A true testament to the quality of furniture makers of years gone by. As I said. I am not a professional antique dealer and do not have the vocabulary to describe all the intricacies. I can tell you this, these pictures don't even do it justice in my opinion(but I'm not a professional photographer either) The bed will accommodate a full mattress and at least a 6'4" man. The applied carvings and scrolls(decorative moulding) on headboard and footboard are all intact ... moreand the footboard has a rolling pin top on it. Which sets it apart from all the other ones I have seen while researching this. dimensions: 81" long, 62"tall(headboard) 60" wide, 38" tall(footboard) The rolling pin top comes off for moving, storing. One end tip of the rolling pin is a bit loose, it just needs to be tapped back on with a new nail. I haven't done it because I'm hoping the person who buys this may have access to the authentic type nails and not one from Home Depot(like me) Claw feet with original wooden wheels. The dresser comes apart in two pieces. The top piece has two bonnet/hat boxes with mirrored doors and a shelf in each. With drawers underneath. These are SO cool! My mother had vintage hats for us to use as dress up clothing and I loved keeping my favorites in these'secret' hiding places that had been used to hold the'fancy lady hats' There is a recessed mirror in the middle that can tilt, depending on height of owner.
