It certainly would lend itself well as a bench, with or without cushions. The inset dimensions are 67 1/4" x 17 1/4" so the cushion or total cushions size would be that size or a bit smaller. Antique Drexel Olde Salem Pineapple Post Full Bed Gorgeous Mahogany 4 Pc
This auction is for one beautiful antique Drexel Pineapple Post double bed. From the Olde Salem Group. Included in this sale are the headboard, footboard and two side rails. The photos that show a lighter colored wood were taken in direct sun and although it gives a better idea of the areas of distress, the two close-up photos of the pineapple posts are a more accurate representation of the depth and shade of mahogany finish. All the joints are solid and stable but there is some cosmetic distressing that I have not addressed in any way because what I do might conflict with what the new owner's preferences in terms of cosmetic restoration. I have also not attempted to wash or clean the bed in any way since I acquired it. For the same reasonss. The distressing that can be seen in the photographs on the headboard and footboard is only on ... morethe surface. There are no deep gouges. No deep scratches or missing pieces of veneer. The surface finish has been distressed and in one larger spot, worn away down to the level of the wood but not below or into it. On one of the side rails there are some significant patches of missing veneer. This can be either totally restored by replacing the veneer. Or just by staining and sealing the wood that was under the veneer. The other side rail does not have missing veneer. Please refer to the photographs provided and email if you would like to see detailed photos of specific parts of the bed. The pineapple posts do not screw off or detach from the headboard on this bed. Dimensions: Headboard: Height to top of pineapple post is approximately 44 inches. It would clean up even better or be of use as is! Drexel is the brand. The company used this name pre 1974 and would become Drexel Heritage. Having done a little searching, I believe this is from the 1940s or 1950s. The piece would be perfect as an accent piece in your foyer, a dresser or a TV stand! This is a beautiful vintage Drexel Travis Court bedroom set. From the 40s or 50s. This is from a one owner;bought it new. It is in excellent condition for its age. I believe this is cherry or mahogany wood. It is a single size bed I did not find the name drexel on the bed. Mattresses are not included. Furniture is in very good condition; has small scratches; not bad at all. The drawers look new inside. It has glass protective tops on all four pieces. Mirrors are in excellent condition. This set is from an estate sale out of Oak Park, IL. Pictures do not do it justice it is in excellent condition except with a few scratches. Local Pick up only In Chicago.
