The pictures don't do this wonderful bed justice! The bed is painted a dark navy blue. It also has beautiful brass accents on the head and footboard. Turn of the century brass bed with patent label still attached. Manufactured by the Simmons Company in 1905. All parts are with the bed including frame rails which are not pictured. There is only one flaw with the bed which I tried to show in the last two pictures. One of the spindles is missing a weld, but you cannot tell unless you look closely.

Amazing antique Marshall & Stearns brass-like murphy bed -- full size, ca. 1920
Hi, I have a small house. Built in 1922, that originally had no bedrooms. Instead it had fold-down beds mounted on immense doors- they would fold up and swing into special closets when not in use. When I first moved into the house I got one of these antique beds working, and we used it as a guest bed for a long time. To see a picture of one in action, check out this vintage ad from google books: Well. Now we are converting one of the special closets into an office, and I need to pass this incredible"Marshall& Stearns" brand bed on to someone else. What you get is a solid steel and iron bed(which at some point in the distant past was painted a brass-type color) which fits a full size mattress. It has a folding headboard with a spring mechanism to help you lift it, though the spring is somewhat weaker than it must have been 90 ... moreyears ago. It also has two massive L-brackets which you would bolt into a wall. Or, to make life simpler, you could just set it up as a non-moving bed. You will need to be a little bit handy to get this to work. I have all the parts. And they all fit together and work, but this is a heavy item that needs to be assembled correctly. I did it by following the picture of the folding mechanism in the pictures below. Documentation of these antique beds is hard to find, so the picture of the mechanism is actually form a different brand bed, but it is quite similar to the bed for sale here and can guide your reconstruction. One metal bar(which adjusts the angle of the folding headboard) is broken, but it is a small and non-essential piece that is easily replaceable. This bed is available for local pickup only. Antique 1905 Iron and Brass Double Bed
This beautiful ornate iron. Brass, silver-toned metal and oak double bed was in the home of the eminent and much-loved doctor, Giles Lucas, and his wife, Lucy Jane, when his daughter, who they also named Lucy Jane, was born in 1906 in Van Buren, Arkansas. It stayed in the mansion until 1970, when it was shipped to the home of Lucy Jane Cannon in Florida. The humid environment in Florida over the years caused the paint to peal, and concerns about health issues connected with lead paint led to the decision to remove all the loose paint. The present owners have removed some of the layer of lacquer which obscured the luster of the brass. The iron has had all the loose paint removed, as have the silver-colored metal ornaments at the intersection points. All four casters are in place. The bed is still in great shape, and is beautiful. Gorgeous Antique Victorian Brass and Rod Iron Bed
What a gorgeous victorian brass and rod iron bed this is. It may look crooked as i had to assemble it outdoors-no room inside to display it. Has wheels on the feet. Sitting on mulch. I spent 40 hours refinishing this, I normally do not touch antiques but it needed sprucing up. I polished the brass which was black. I put coats of rustoleum on first there was some bad areas on the frame and then about six coats of a white metal finish paint. Really want to keep this but had just purchased an antique eastlake set last winter. I did not put a mattres on it but a full size will sit on frame as does my eastlake set. To the tallest area on the headboard 62" 44-3/4" to the tallest area on the foorboard. The outside rails are 76-1/2" x 53-1/2" The last picture shows I am pointing to-I have the brass ball and there is threading ... moresticking up but I am afraid it will come off so you can put it on when you have the bed. Made out of brass with iron railings. It has signs of ware on it due to its age. The brass headboard and backboard show tarnishing and blacking of the finish. This is an antique double brass bed from late 1800's or early 1900's. It is in good condition. There is a unique design that to me looks similar to an anchor. But I don't think that is what it is. Very interesting though! It does have wheels at the bottom of the legs. It came with the house my husband and I just bought, and we do not wish to keep the bed. Simple lines of the Head and Foot with heavy brass oblong bed posts are highlighted by the overlay brass at the corners. Both pieces have smaller internal posts; the Head is missing the middlepost. A good metalsmith could replace this or the bed could be used in its' current form) All posts are hallow and made of heavy brass. The bed is on wheels and is easily moved.
