Multi-turned legs in the back, acanthus carved posts and flaming finials on all four corners. A scrolled federal style pillar is on the shield of the solid mahogany headboard and footboard. The quality in this set is amazing. They have bolt-in rails and covers of beveled edge wood to cover the bolts, instead of the little brass disks. The size of the beds, on the outside, are 42.5 inches wide, 42 inches high to the shield on the footboard, 47.5 inches high on the shield on the headboard, 41 inches across the top of the rails, and 76 inches long. This is the type of bed where the box spring sits on top, with a guide rail on the inside, and the mattress sits upon that. They have been re-sprayed to remove nicks and dings on the headboard and footboard, and there was also a stain on one of the headboards and footboards that could not be sanded out. They are early 20th century made in the Chippendale era style. The manufacturer was well know back then and even today as an excellent furniture maker. One bed is complete with the original Mahogany side rails. It is in good condition with it's original finish. The rail connections are in good and tight condition and have never been damaged. There are wheel holes under each foot. The second bed is missing it's side rails but they can be replaced with aftermarket metal rails available locally or online. Absolutely beautiful pair of twin beds with rails and cross boards. I do not know the age or maker of the beds. They look like mahogany to me but I'm not really sure maybe their walnut. You be the judge. I am not able to ship these beds, I am asking for local pick up only, if you would like them shipped you will need to be responsible and arrange to have a shipping company come and pick them up. They appear to be quite sturdy and are in nice condition except for scratches. Marks and a little bit of mildew from storage as seen in photos. I did not try to clean these beds but they should clean up beautifully with a little scratch cover and just wiping them down. One pair of the beds has wheels and the other does not.
