The footboard is 34.5” tall, 3.5” thick at the top, 58.5” wide. The side rails will sit approximately 9” off the ground when in place. The wood is walnut with burl accents. There are no repairs. Cracks or damage that I have noticed. It may have had a crest on top at some time period. Beautiful Antique Victorian Brass And Iron Bed!!
Hello! And welcome to my auction! Today we have a Very sturdy and Solid Antique Full Size Victorian Iron and brass bed for sale! What a beautiful bed! The pictures don't do this wonderful bed justice! The bed is painted a dark navy blue. It also has beautiful brass accents on the head and footboard. Measurements are: Headboard: 62 in. tall(to top of brass finial) 53 1/2 in wide; Footboard: 48 in. tall(to top of brass finial) 53 1/2 in. wide; Rails 73 in. to end of pin) Some of the brass does have some slight tarnishing as well as some slight dings, but are very unnoticeable. All the brass accent pieces seem to be there. The bed has its original rails(which are VERY hard to find) The rails angle down and have some paint chipping as well as some metal chipping, as shown. Someone in the past, has attached a small wooden bracket in the middle ... moreof the rails, I assume to help hold the mattress and box springs in place. Also the right hitch on the head board has a small chip off the corner. None of these damages effect the stability of the bed at all! On the bottom feet of the bed there are metal rods, I assume to hold casters? This item is located at my home in Ashville, Al. It has turnip shaped tapered legs, a beautiful triple panel section on the footboard, and maple pinstripe inlay around the burl walnut panels going around the straight grain walnut, and also an ebony checkerboard type inlay. The bed is 62 inches wide on the inside, 57 inches tall at the headboard, and 33 inches tall at the footboard. The inside dimensions are 59 inches wide, and 74 inches long. The bolt-in side rails are even all inlaid and decorated, and make the bed all tight and sturdy. It originally had four legs on the front, one of which is missing. Gorgeous Antique Victorian Brass and Rod Iron Bed
What a gorgeous victorian brass and rod iron bed this is. It may look crooked as i had to assemble it outdoors-no room inside to display it. Has wheels on the feet. Sitting on mulch. I spent 40 hours refinishing this, I normally do not touch antiques but it needed sprucing up. I polished the brass which was black. I put coats of rustoleum on first there was some bad areas on the frame and then about six coats of a white metal finish paint. Really want to keep this but had just purchased an antique eastlake set last winter. I did not put a mattres on it but a full size will sit on frame as does my eastlake set. To the tallest area on the headboard 62" 44-3/4" to the tallest area on the foorboard. The outside rails are 76-1/2" x 53-1/2" The last picture shows I am pointing to-I have the brass ball and there is threading ... moresticking up but I am afraid it will come off so you can put it on when you have the bed. Victorian Style Antique Bed and Vanity Set approximately 1917 era
Up for bid are a bed and vanity set. A friend of mine's grandmother bought these when she moved from Rockmart Ga. to Atlanta. GA in 1917. The story goes that being a country girl she could not afford new furniture. The set appears to be in Victorian style. The footboard is curved. Bed is 56" wide by 87" long. Footboard is 30" tall. There is a short chair that goes with the set to sit in front of the vanity but I do not have a picture yet. The bed and vanity has been refinished but they forgot about refinishing the chair. The chair is included. The furniture is still with the family and she kept it with her until her death in 1996. Local pickup only. Asking $800 but will take best offer.
