This is something that's getting very hard to find: A pair of extra tall solid mahogany post twin-size beds that date from the ... more1930s-40s. This set came in with the side rails all twisted up and chipped like they always are. So we built brand-new side rails, stained them, re-sprayed the beds, and they will easily accommodate twin-size mattresses and box springs. The beds are quite unique, with an extra high shield on both the head- and footboards, and also the extra tall posts, which are 64 inches tall. The outside dimensions are 43 inches wide, 39 inches tall on the footboard shield, and 47 inches tall on the headboard shield. The inside dimensions, for mattress purposes, are 75.5 inches long, by 39.5 inches wide. It's a great pair of beds that has been all re-sprayed to reveal the luster of the dark rich reddish-brown stain lacquer finish. Although I can't find the manufacturer's tag, it's obvious they are of high quality, and were most likely made by someone like Paine. This 4-post bed frame is absolutely beautiful. Some specifics: From the 1940's. On each post. There is a sculpted pineapple, the universal"welcome" symbol. Measures approximately 54" wide x 49" high. Used for full size bed. But I was told it would also work for a queen size as well. Check measurements above. Has six 3" thick wooden slats that hold mattress in place. And two 5" wooden slates for top and bottom. I believe it is mahogany. But not sure. Kept in a very clean. Bug-free, pet-free, and smoke-free house. Prefer local pick up in Brooklyn. Antique Unbelievable Carved Full Double Pineapple Four Poster Bed Post Frame
Up for sale is an antique full/double sized Mahogany Pineapple post bed frame. The frame is in good shape but is in need of some TLC. The frame has some condition issues. Namely finish problems and marks, scratches but it is still a gorgeous frame. Chip in one of the pineapple's leaves. I photographed it copiously so you can see the details. The detailed worked posts are quite a unique feature. I am not able to identify the wood definitively but it is my guess that the main body of the headboard and footboard are mahogany veneer. The posts are likely solid since it would be near impossible to veneer them. The beams also appear to be veneered. The beam has a veneer that has chipped at the end. The frame weighs a hefty amount and is stunning. Again please see pictures as they more accurately and easily describe the condition than I can ... moredo in writing. Comes with headboard. Footboard, two side beams/rails and hardware. Posts measure 64 inches in height, beams/rails measure 76 inches in length and the headboard/footboard measure approximately 60 inches across. Antique Drexel Olde Salem Pineapple Post Full Bed Gorgeous Mahogany 4 Pc
This auction is for one beautiful antique Drexel Pineapple Post double bed. From the Olde Salem Group. Included in this sale are the headboard, footboard and two side rails. The photos that show a lighter colored wood were taken in direct sun and although it gives a better idea of the areas of distress, the two close-up photos of the pineapple posts are a more accurate representation of the depth and shade of mahogany finish. All the joints are solid and stable but there is some cosmetic distressing that I have not addressed in any way because what I do might conflict with what the new owner's preferences in terms of cosmetic restoration. I have also not attempted to wash or clean the bed in any way since I acquired it. For the same reasonss. The distressing that can be seen in the photographs on the headboard and footboard is only on ... morethe surface. There are no deep gouges. No deep scratches or missing pieces of veneer. The surface finish has been distressed and in one larger spot, worn away down to the level of the wood but not below or into it. On one of the side rails there are some significant patches of missing veneer. This can be either totally restored by replacing the veneer. Or just by staining and sealing the wood that was under the veneer. The other side rail does not have missing veneer. Please refer to the photographs provided and email if you would like to see detailed photos of specific parts of the bed. The pineapple posts do not screw off or detach from the headboard on this bed. Dimensions: Headboard: Height to top of pineapple post is approximately 44 inches. Height at center headboard is approximately 41-1/2 inches. Outside width measured halfway up the post is approximately 56 inches.
