The headboard and footboard are intricately covered in mahogany veneer in a diamond pattern. This bed has brass corner moldings and feet as well as brass moldings on the headboard. Footboard and side rails. This bed is in exceptionally nice condition for its age. The bed is made to fit a mattress and box spring that are 74 inches long X 57 inches wide. This is a little wider than your standard ... morefull size mattress however a full size frame will sit down inside the mattress area to hold a full size bed. That is how the previous owner used it and how we have it displayed in our store. However you can also have a custom box spring and mattress made to fit if you should choose. There is a slight separation between the footboard and the post for the side rail on the right side of the footboard; check out the photos below. The side rails are slightly scuffed on the tops from past use. I do not know the maker or exact date this bed was made. This piece is antique and will not be perfect. The headboard measures 38 ½ inches tall, 60 ½ inches side to side and 3¾ inches front to back. It weighs 40 pounds. Antique Drexel Olde Salem Pineapple Post Full Bed Gorgeous Mahogany 4 Pc
This auction is for one beautiful antique Drexel Pineapple Post double bed. From the Olde Salem Group. Included in this sale are the headboard, footboard and two side rails. The photos that show a lighter colored wood were taken in direct sun and although it gives a better idea of the areas of distress, the two close-up photos of the pineapple posts are a more accurate representation of the depth and shade of mahogany finish. All the joints are solid and stable but there is some cosmetic distressing that I have not addressed in any way because what I do might conflict with what the new owner's preferences in terms of cosmetic restoration. I have also not attempted to wash or clean the bed in any way since I acquired it. For the same reasonss. The distressing that can be seen in the photographs on the headboard and footboard is only on ... morethe surface. There are no deep gouges. No deep scratches or missing pieces of veneer. The surface finish has been distressed and in one larger spot, worn away down to the level of the wood but not below or into it. On one of the side rails there are some significant patches of missing veneer. This can be either totally restored by replacing the veneer. Or just by staining and sealing the wood that was under the veneer. The other side rail does not have missing veneer. Please refer to the photographs provided and email if you would like to see detailed photos of specific parts of the bed. The pineapple posts do not screw off or detach from the headboard on this bed. Dimensions: Headboard: Height to top of pineapple post is approximately 44 inches. Height at center headboard is approximately 41-1/2 inches. Outside width measured halfway up the post is approximately 56 inches. Footboard: Height to top of pineapple post is approximately 34 inches. Height at center headboard is approximately 31-1/2 inches.
