The polished finish is original except for a re-varnished top. It is extremely fine with a little fading on the sides and minor mars at the edges. Mahogany wood has glowing antique patina. There is fine satinwood inlaid stringing. Glass panes have a wide bevel, locks are operational. Shelves are adjustable on wooden supports in the upper compartment, which is a separate piece for easier moving. The drawer has solid oak sides with hand cut dovetails. Solid Mahogany inlaid triple bookcase Curvd glass c1900
Here is a wonderful solid mahogany bookcase with mother of pearl inlay along with satin wood. It is a triple bookcase with the two outer sections having flat panel glass and the center of attention focusing on the middle curved section. This section also has an incredible inlay in the bottom locking door and a beautiful claw foot. The back fancy board is still intact which adds so much to this case. It dates to the late 1890-1910 era and has its original finish which is outstanding. A good cleaning is all this beauty needs. I also have the original key attached to a silk gold material. All glass is original wavy glass which shows its true age. Again this is solid mahogany not a veneer. Inner shelves are adjustable. The bookcase measures 69 inches tall by 60 inches wide and is 16 inches deep at the curved glass and 14 at the ends. A very expensive ... morebookcase but here for a fraction of retail so dealers come get it. I sell glass and lamps not furniture but this was not to be passed up at the sale I went to. i just purchased another horner bookcase at over twice the price i am starting this one. i do not have room for both. But if this one does not sell, i guess i will have to put one on the porch. my house is full. anyway, for auction is a fabulous r j horner solid mahogany three door bookcase with mahogany shelves original to the piece. it has two fierce griffin at either end of the bookcase and three griffin head situated at the center and above each door. these heads are part of the finely carved freize near the top of the bookcase. it has wonderful molding along the top and below the carving and sits on finely carved feet. it is 6 feet wide over 65 inches tall without casters and 15 inches deep at the widest part at the griffins nose. it has the original key and all the door locks function perfectly. all original and no defects or issues ... moreto report. a hard to find bookcase. the pictures i have taken are terrible and do not do the piece justice and do not show the intricate and detailed carving as it should. sorry, i just can't seem to take a picture worth a flip. it can be picked up at my home or shipped. shipping expense is the buyers responsiblity. i would be glad to facilitate shipment or help in anyway in that regard or you can arrange it for yourself. good luck. ps. the buy it now price is 1500 less than one exactly like it sold for about one year ago on live auction not to mention the 18 percent buyers premium which made it almost 9500. finally for sale a very rare model r j horner double secretary or side by side bookcase with a wonderful very thick drop front and a great set of cubbies. i have been collecting antiques for 5 decades and have owned 100's of r j horner pieces and have seen thousands. But this is the only double secretary by him like this one i have ever seen. maybe i have not been at the right place or right time and you may own 20 of them, but this is the only one i have seen and therefore i believe it to be a very rare model. at any rare it is a great piece, original finish as you can see the finish is crazing a good bit. the grain and color of the piece is great with a great patina so i would not recommend stripping it under any circumstance. as you see hopefully the secondaries are birdseye maple which about every mahogany horner piece i have has ... morebirdseye. my camera is old, i am old and the pictures suck. they are too dark and do not show the huge lions head in the top well nor the standing griffins under the drop front. the top drawer is contoured serpentine top to bottom and the two lower drawers concave end to end. the freeze(sp) at the top and sides is contoured serpentine top to bottom and there is a neat scroll over the top of the big griffin on top with carved ends. there are ionic twisted columns on either side of the curved glass upper door compartment. the piece at the top and bottom has great lines and form concave forms in the center of the top and bottom sections. everything original as far as i know including hardware. i have owned this piece many years and it cost a pretty penny way back when. the best i remember, it has inventory nos. on the back and it used to have a piece of an r j horner paper label on the back. i have not looked at its back for longer than many of you have been alive and it is too full and heavy for me to move to check if it is still there, however, i guarantee it to be r j horner at his finest. it is quite heavy. when i moved it years ago i struggled, doubtful i can budge it now. it h

Highly sought after original Danner revolving bookcase in its original mahogany finish. Condition is good. Perhaps better. THe spindles are all attached and very good. The top of the bookcase has two wood separations, as shown, otherwise, this bookcase would be very good. Still very functional-turns properly. Original casters, etc. Some of the inside shelves have stain marks from old stains, etc but overall, a very nice representation of a Victorian Danner piece. Late 19thC. Satinwood & MOP Inlaid Mahogany Bookcase Arched Doors & Paw Feet
This is an absolutely stunning piece of furniture in amazing condition for the age. This piece dates to the late 1800's. We do not know the maker of this piece or the origin. This bookcase stands 66 3/8" high and has a width at the top of 53.25" The width at the base is 55" The depth at the top is 15" and at the base it has a depth of 17" The main body of this where the books are held measures 51" w x 14" d x 57.75" h. The arched doors are flanked on the sides by 3/4 columns capped with ornate finnials. There are bands of string inlay decorating the fronts of the doors. There is a third finnial capped column between the two doors as well. Each column has beautiful designs made from satinwood and accented with mother of pearl inlay. This design is also seen above the doors. The sides have raised ... moretrim molding and the top has an inlaid stip around the front and side and dental inlaid molding beneath it. The base boasts stunning winged.Bracket paw feet. The back has bun feet. The inside has a depth of 12" and has four shelves. The original round pegs have been replaced with dowels. There are some losses to the trim molding on one side of this. There do not appear to be any losses to the inlaid areas. There is a small gap on the left side between the door and the center column. There are age and use associated surface scratches and dings. These are very minor and do not detract from the piece at all. There are losses to the wood below the finial on the right side column. This can be seen in the last picture. This is a stunning bookcase that was obviously well cared for. This is a previously owned item and it is being sold as shown. The lock does not work and the key is a handle only. The right door has an original brass rim. The finish is in very fine condition on mahogany with just enough mars and dings for antique character. Fine quality piece. Measures 72 inches wide x 54 inches high x 16 inches deep. The gothic revival begins in earnest in 1837 with the publication in London of Pugin's Contrasts. But this gothic revival bookcase with glazed doors must date towards the 4th quarter of the 19th century. For your consideration is a French late Restauration gilt bronze mounted mahogany bookcase in good antique condition(1800's) h. 76" x w. 38 1/2" x d. 18" The interior is painted blue. And the back of cabinet is lined with worn striped fabric, possibly silk, of unknown origin and date. There is an approximate 1" hole routed in back of cabinet. Hardware is original: one rosette missing from top right cabinet door. Glass is intact. The mahogany is unrestored and in beautiful condition. This is a very nice revolving tabletop shelf. It could be for small books or nic nacs. It is 15 1/2" tall by 12" wide. The cubby holes are 6 1/2"x6" In comes in two parts. The top shelves(photos 1 to 10) that swivel on the base(photo 11 and 12) I took different shades of the top piece to show how it was constructed and that there are two seperations between boards, but book case is very sturday, not loose. The piece measures 72” long, 14” deep, and 54” tall. The three doors each measure 19.75” x 48” and there are 12 adjustable shelves measuring approximately 10.75” x 22.75” Overall this piece is in excellent condition. With only a few minor chips along the outer edges. Bottom left foot has chip in front finish and two of the doors have detail work broken slightly(see in pic; we DO HAVE the wooden pieces to repair the doors) Please note that in the picture only the middle door is attached.
