This is a beautiful golden oak victorian bookcase circa 1880. The bookcase has 2 glass doors. 4 adjustable shelves, and 2 storage drawers at the base. The drawers have the nice original hardware including key eschusions and locks although there is no key. However the doors doesn't have the key eschusion but has the lock and the working key. The same key does not fit the doors and drawers. The bookcase is a nice size. It measures 70 1/2" tall, 36" wide, and is 13 1/2" deep at the top 12" deep at the shelves and 15" deep at the base. The original beveled mirror on the top backsplash is 10 1/2" x 6 1/2" oval and has a smoky appearance. There is nice trim around the doors. The bookcase is a little loose from side to side but by no means in bad shape. It is very useable without any repair. Email with any ... morequestions. Here we have a beautiful Victorian Oak Bookcase with double doors. 2 drawers at the base with an ornate backsplash with shelf. The bookcase has brass pulls and hardware, with frosted windows at the top with applied fancy scroll work. There is a slight piece missing from the scroll work, also decorated with dental molding around the top. They were made in Europe sometime around 1890 of solid oak. Today they remain in excellent condition with only two minor cosmetic issues that have been pictured. There is a small break to one of the mouldings and an age separation on one of the side panels. The pair is strong and will last for many years. There are slight differences between the two bookcases ... morethat are hard to notice unless you are looking for them. The left bookcase is slightly darker than the right. The carvings are also slightly different in spots which we have tried to captivate in the photos. However. These differences serve to make the bookcases more a unique pair than separate them. Both the upper doors and lower doors on the bookcases lock and there are four keys included. The wooden shelves in the upper sections are adjustable and quite strong. The bookcases break down into two parts each(top and bottom) for easier transporting. This is a rare Victorian era pair antique bookcases in carved oak. Both bookcases open to reveal large storage areas with shelves. The alligator brackets provide strong. Versatile shelf support. These carved columns differ slightly but complement each other very well. Again these carvings differ slightly. But together they look complete. A very nice. Smaller curio shelf constructed of bamboo and oak from the late 19th century in exceptionally good condition. It has some lovely, wavy burned decoration along most of the bamboo pieces. Measures 19" wide. 30" tall at the back, and 7" deep. Shelves measure 6" by 18. Likely would have hung on a wall with figurines. Nicknacks, or small books. Has a bar at bottom that could be used to hang linens or towels. It's a bit small and delicate for a bookshelf. Some wear to shelves but no major stains or other damage. Has an older. I would guess the shelf was once turned into a'shabby chic' piece and returned back to its normal colouring as remnants of paint can be seen in the fine grooves. I am not sure if the pegs are original. Originally the top shelf would have has a back plate. But this is missing. The item also carries the obvious knocks and bumps you would expect an antique piece of furniture to have. Non of these points distract from it's rustic antique charm.
