Extra long one, a 4 door beauty which are divided by interior in two sections. Each side has 3 adjustable shelves for a total of 6. Nice carvings, and blocks between doors and above. Top of the piece had a section that was at one time covered in velvet(which is now dry) which was there originally, set back abot 3 inches away from the edge, all finished. The velvet could be replaced or even a piece of marble could be added. top was meant for display. Sides are done in framed in panels. It has turned& fluted burl columns on each side and striking rounded corners featuring fine burl panels. Here is a gorgeous solid walnut Empire Revival bookcase from about 1880. Only two shelves are shown in the photos. However, there are four removable/adjustable shelves. The lock sets are original in the door and drawers and there are two keys which both. Easy to transport and to break down and set up. This bookcase has the base, the crown and then, basically, a stack of wood to include the two glass doors. This is a classic period piece with a mix of elements from the Louis XVI era in the fine arts medallions mixed with Renaissance revival carvings and stained glass. It is solid oak. Including the back and side panels and the adjustable height shelves, and it is finished to a warm dark oak color. The stained glass doors are in excellent condition with no damage. This wonderful 19th century bookcase appears to have its old original finish that is rich and inviting with wonderful aged patina. Beautiful carvings and rosettes with raised panels of burl walnut adorn this wonderful piece. All the locks are intact on this piece but the tasseled key provided just aids in opening the doors.
