Tiger oak is most likely caused from the swaying of large oak tree in the wind. The tiger effect is seen when the lumber is sawed with a more expensive sawing layout called quarter sawing. Only some of the board that are quarter sawed will show the tiger effect. 15 1/2" high x 14" wide x 8" in width. Very one of a kind. Very hard to find a Magazine rack in an Empire Period piece. It is amazingly complete missing only five of the round details. I think these could easily be reproduced in resin. At the base is a sturdy set of legs with wood wheels. Fantastic Bookcase It is with a heavy heart that I am parting with my favorite piece of furniture. This is a great bookcase and it is in exceptional condition. I never thought I would sell. But I am going with a larger one. This is a turn of the century piece, more likely about 1880's, not positive. There are two nicks on the top. One I show in the photo's the other is not really visible due to location. Rock solid piece, glass is great, shelves sit sturdy with no rocking. Drawers work well. Shelves are adjustable to any dimension you would want basically. This is a very. Very nice piece and I have only good things to say about it. Antique extendable oak book shelf with carved ends.
I brought the book shelf from a lovely little antique shop in the Lake District when I was on my Honeymoon. However I never got round to putting it up and I don't really have the room for it. It has been in a corner of my bedroom for ages now, which is a real shame as its a beautiful piece of Oak. The shelf measures 11" and extends to 21" Please look carefully at the photo's above as I have taken pictures of every angle and a close up of the carving on the ends. It's in very good condition + extends perfectly.

Fantastic c 1900 oak leaded glass bookcases. These are meant to fit in a corner. They come with 8 shelves and 16 wooden shelf supports. These are gorgeous and priced to sell. Pickup only in Lancaster ohio. As long as you pay promptly we are flexible on when you pickup. Two pane in the leaded glass are broken on one door. A trim piece from one end is missing on the other bookcase and one shelf notch is long gone but otherwise these are fantastic. they do have a moth ball smell as they were stored for many years. Size of larger is 48 7/8" wide, 16.75" deep and 53.5" high. The other is the same height and depth but is only 39" wide. You get both as they are a set.

The joinery is magnificent dovetail with zero spaces and fillers. It's solid oak. I did rub some finish on it to bring out the fantastic grain and quasi-irridescent effect of old oak. This is a superb 19th century Black Forest oak book shelf with oak leaf and berry carvings to either end. Excellent attention to carved detail with a large oak leaf and berries to each end.
