Offering up this fantastic antique sterling or coin silver Brandy Ladle for bids here. Not sure of the maker or the exact age of this as it is not marked. However. It is Definately Old, and Guaranteed to be silver. It is typical of brandy ladles of the Georgian period. The craftsmanship is Outstanding. Measures 5.75" long. Bowl area measures 3- 1/8" wide x 2- 1/8" x 1" deep. Features a Wonderful Bird on a Stump Armorial mark as shown. Unfortunately, it is missing the rest of the handle. It would have likely been made of wood, and about 4" 6" long. A new handle could Absolutely be made and reattached. Other than that, it has just minor dings and scratches. Great addition to Any antique silver collection.

A very nice item- simple. Functional, good warm colour. I think that it's Georgian or early Victorian but I am no expert. Generally in very nice condition. And will clean up well. A small chip to the inside rim, see photo 2. And the steel piercer is 7.8cm long. The sheath has two hairline cracks. They are both stable with no movement at all, there is some wear around the finger grip handle. The steel piercer that is half round in shape and V shaped. Is wider at the beginning, it has a small kink in the middle, apart from the mentioned its good. Here I will be selling a beautiful collection of original James Tassie glass gems. I will be parting with 67 glass gems over the next month. All have an intaglio negative cut into them and so this is seen as a cameo when viewed from the flat side. These were used as seals to press into wax. Some of these casts are of W Brown’s great gems. These are of exceptional quality and were sometimes mounted in a backless picture frames where light would gleam through from behind the gems revealing the lovely colors. Tassie was a perfectionist and casting in glass was not easy– the failure rate would depress him& he would destroy a lot of casts and only if a bubble did not interfere with the image did he approve it. This is an unusual antique Scottish Georgian solid silver teaspoon. It has a hallmark comprising of a thistle and George III's head. The maker's mark is"AZ" for Alexander Zeigler. This is rubbed but can be read. There is no castle mark or date letter. DGS" is elegantly engraved on the handle. The spoon is approx. 13 cm long and weighs 10.7 g. It has only been lightly cleaned. ANTIQUE GEORGIAN WOOL ALPHABET SAMPLER - BETSEY DAWSON aged 8 YHULLAM - DURHAM
A small antique Georgian wool on linen alphabet sampler. Circa 1830, embroidered by Betsey Dawson aged 8 years. There are two Roman numerals inserted between the alphabet letters L M& N(see photo) which are III and II and may indicate the date 1832. This sampler includes a mysterious& exotic name, Yhullam" for which I can find no explanation. I have another sampler listed this week, from the same source, by Mary Dawson and dated 1855, which also bears the word Yhullam and I would say that this older sampler was probably made by Mary's aunt, her father's sister. The only clue I can find is on a list of South Durham voters dating from 1868 where there is listed one John Yhullam Dawson, from Weardale, who was almost certainly a close relation. The reason the family adopted"Yhullam" remains a mystery. This sampler ... moreis in good condition with one or two small. Minor age marks and one small hole near the letter M. A delightful unframed antique Georgian sampler. Beautifully worked by Elizabeth Snook in fine silks on linen. The bands of pattern and pretty pastel colours indicate a date of around 1800, perhaps earlier. Snook is an unusual and rare surname, found in the West Country, most likely Dorset, where there are several recorded births for girls named Elizabeth Snook in the 1700s. It is embroidered with alphabets, numbers and three religious verses. Antique Early 19th C. Georgian Blown Cut Glass Double Knop Stem Dram Wine Flute
This listing is for a late 18th or early 19th Century dram drinking glass. It is blown of clear non leaded glass. And has a very slight pink tint, and tight horizontal striations. It has flute cutting on the bowl, and a double, annulated knop stem. The foot is slightly domed, and has a polished pontil. The vessel is 4.6" tall, and 2.5" across the top and foot. Antique 19 C. Georgian Armorial Crest Cut Glass Port Wine Taper Decanter & Label
This listing is for a Nineteenth Century antique tapered club form port wine decanter with fine diamond and flute cutting. It has a faceted flattened lozenge form stopper. And intricately engraved Royal Crown armorial crest over an"N" monogram. The engraving is beautiful with tiny evenly spaced cross hatches. It retains its hand made silver bottle ticket and belcher chain- which is unmarked. I'm unsure as to whether it is sterling, but it still has the scribe marks used to lay out the punch work. The decanter is unsigned, but markings are visible on the side of the polished stopper plug. it appears to read" 328 AGn T Paw" I am uncertyain about the"G" and"w" The glass is quite clear, and of good quality. The base of the decanter is cut in the same fine diamonds as found on the body of the piece. ... moreThe decanter measures 11.4" to the top of the stopper, and 9.1" to the top of the rim. Georgian Silver on Copper Large Antique Salver Tray. Sheffield Electro Plate.
You are bidding on this large silver on copper plate(Electro Plating) salver. Which weighs 1.7 Kilo, and measures 14 inches in diameter. The slaver stands at a height of just under 1.5 inches on its three feet. Information received from a leading Edinburgh Auction House that it is late Georgian Period. In sound and very good condition, with no dents. There is some rubbing however to the centre of the salver, as my late Mother used it as a plant pot stand. Flat chasing to main body of salver, with lovely detail to edging and the three feet, as well as the etched design to main body of the salver. There is a pronounced hallmark on the underside, but I cannot quite work it out, so cannot give you a Maker. Description: This listing is for an 18th Century English Georgian Chippendale Carved Mahogany Wingback Arm Chair. C. 1760-80. It is a stunning and rare piece, with a unique and quite interesting design. The crest is flat, squaring off with small lobed wings that culminate where your head would rest, and flow back into the frame almost immediately. These flank a broad and very comfortable upholstered back, from which both open upholstered arms flare slightly outward before joining the sloped arm supports. Each arm support is intricately carved with gothic fretwork designs out of a single solid block of mahogany- none of the carvings on this chair are applied, all of them being carved of the solid. These flow into a square seat, ... moredeeply upholstered and stuffed over the rail. The seat rests over two square front legs, each with gothic fretwork motifs carved long them, stretched with a box stretcher joining using hidden tenon mortise joinery- not dovetails. The rear legs are square, canted and slightly backswept and all four legs are chamfered along the interior corner. This is one of the most beautiful Georgian chairs we've carried. Having fabulous carvings with a deep glowing patina on all exposed surfaces in rich mahogany. It is incredibly solid and heavy, being fully functional nearly three-hundred years after being originally crafted, with generations of strength still in the joints throughout. Up for auction is a rare antique Georgian/ Victorian necklace with a pretty gem embellished hand clasp. The necklace is made of woven 15k gold or pinchbeck- I cannot remember exactly what the metal content is. The hand features a small emerald ring and a ruby or garnet floral cuff. Please note the mesh has been compressed in some areas and the gold has tarnished in a few places. I will leave cleaning to the new owner. Regardless of this minor issue. Is still a wonderful and rare wearable piece of jewelry history. I am being conservative and calling the piece Georgian/ Victorian, although I bought is as Georgian dated 1840-1860. Major clear out of my studio, it is now filling up fast with new auction finds. The new year began well– I was offered the fabulous contents of a Victorian linen cupboard and a family collection of lace from a local estate. I also acquired lots of new stock from two wonderful antique textile auctions- one in SW England and another in Yorkshire. I am continuing to list these items as soon as I have laundered and inspected them– lace, shawls, Edwardian and Victorian costume, a collection of buttons etc. Happy browsing! I am listing two Georgian or early Victorian gentlemen's waistcoats this week- both found is the same tissue filled box. With a label"Georgian silk waistcoats" They came ... morefrom a recently closed private museum of costume and textiles. I don't know enough about these to date them properly, so please look at the photographs if you are a collector. This is a very beautiful figured ivory silk brocade- the small, dark motifs are woven into the brocade with metal thread. The back of the waistcoat is also silk, and it is lined with a very fine glazed calico. There are four silk-covered buttons- the top button is missing. The fabric is quite stunning. The silk fabric on the back of the waistcoat is more fragile than the brocade, and it is beginning to disintegrate at the neck, side seams and back lacing. Slight staining under the arms, and a little area of damage under one + a badly done darn on the front near the bottom(photographed) The fronts are really in excellent condition for their age, and the silk quite beautiful. Measurements(all taken with the garment laid flat and measured straight across: shoulder to shoulder 32cm, underam to underarm 47cm, waist 40cm, length at front 48cm, slightly less at the back. ANTIQUE GEORGIAN TEA CADDY- FOR RESTORATION Measurements: 10 inches(26 cm) across x 6 inches(16 cm) wide x 7 1/2 inches(20 cm) high SOLD AS SEEN This is I think a Georgian tea caddy with later additions. The inside has three replacement wooden divisions and some rather curious boxes. There is a spoon compartment covered in green baize at the back. There is no lock. And I thinK the base/feet are probably replacement as well. The rest of the caddy is in good condition- a restoration project for someone. Because of all the boxes etc. it is quite heavy to post. Antique Georgian Solid Silver Mustard Spoon- Assayed in YORK A lovely rare Georgian solid silver mustard spoon in nice condition. The spoon maker is- Hampston. Prince& Cattles- of YORK This York maker was trading between 1801- 1804. So the spoon was made between this period. The makers mark of the spoon can be viewed at this link- http:www.925-1000.com/dlYork.html Measures- 10 cm in length and the bowl measures 2.5 cm wide- Weighs- 9.5 grams There is a crest on the top of the spoon which looks like a bird of prey. The spoon bowl seems to have a golden colour to it possibly gold gilt. The only damage to the spoon is there is a small scratch on the handle but this is very minor considering the spoon is over 200 years old.

The silk is backed with calico, and the silk thread embroidered though both layers, so this is in good condition ... morefor its age, with a little water staining to the top right, and some fading to the bottom left hand side. This was so hard to photograph! It measures 68cm x 57cm. and there is an edging of about 1,5cm where it was once folded over a stiff backing for framing. No damage to the silk that I can spot- one tiny tear outside the main field. A really interesting early embroidered silk map! More photographs below. Description EXCELLENT CONDITION GEORGIAN 6 INCH FINE OX BONE GENTLEMAN'S FOLDING RULE Fine quality and delicately made Fold's perfectly- holding pin present and correct Excellent condition Beautiful example of a tiny'ox bone' gentleman's folding rule. No maker's mark that I can see. Judging by the very early style font. Probably Georgian- circa late 18th or very early 19th Century. This was probably originally used in a Gentleman's travel set or Etui. This one is in unusually excellent condition given the age. Ox bone' is traditionally brittle and it's nice to fine a rule of this type with edges that are still as straight and true as when first made. No chips or knocks. No significant yellowing of the bone. Beautifully made. And a very delicate little item. Measures 6 inches when folded out. Folds down ... moreto 3 inches and just 1/8th of an inch thick. The bookcase, fall, and middle drawer still lock with an accompanying set of keys, while the top and bottom drawers no longer lock. This piece easily separates into the bookcase and bureau sections, with the top securing into the bottom with a pair of screws. Each drawer of course features hand-cut dovetails, and the shaped bracket feet remain as sturdy as they are elegant. Wow! This one came away from some thick door! The mounting screws attached are 4" long and a little rusted. There is some kind of Makers Mark or Signature mark. As highlighted on back in one of my photos. I can't decipher what it says. Although I've read that so many of these were one of a kind, And usually went unmarked. No strike plate to go with it. I've tried to capture it's fine quality and fantastic condition. Given it's age. Hand forged moving. Screws. And movement of striker is great. It is large; 9" high x 5 1/4" and weighs 3 lb. 4 oz. Antique English Georgian Sovereign Gold Coin Guinea Balance Scale! Early-1800's
This is a listing for an Antique English Georgian Gold Guinea Coin Folding Balance Scale! XXRARE! Wood and Brass! This scale came out of a museum in Centre County. PA that recently closed. Everything is intact and operates properly, even the brass latch on the case opens and closes. In the bottom of the case is the original instruction sheet still attached and legible. It appears that the label might be missing from the inside top of the case. The wood appears slightly shaded inside the top and other scales usually have a label in that location. I've seen similar scales made by Ward and Bell, all extremely collectible. From my research, I find that this scale was made sometime from 1800-1820. Delicate Antique Victorian Georgian Shell Shape Sterling Silver Salt Sugar Spoon
Lovely Victorian small spoon for a master salt(could possibly be a sugar spoon. But appears to small) This is an early piece. The bowl of the spoon is a figural scalloped shell. The handle is a simple straight round piece with a loop at the end. The back of the bowl is faintly stamped"sterling" with no other hallmarks detected. We have not cleaned this item for fear of damaging it. The handle is attached to the back of the spoon. There is a crack running alongside the handle which is not noticeable nor does it affect the structural integrity of the piece. Really interesting old item for your collection. It measures 5" long with the spoon bowl being slightly over 1" across at the widest section.
