It is in the original old dark ... morereddish brown stain finish. This has four glass doors and plenty of space for books. The overall size is 78 inches wide, 18 inches deep and 60 inches high. The side compartments are 20 inches wide and two shelves are behind each door. The center section is 31 inches wide and has three shelves. The overall condition is good. There are a few minor pieces of molding missing, one keyhole cover is missing, and is in good overall condition for being 130 years old. It has panel sides, carved columns, multi-molded edge on the breakfront and carved pillars. It is an impressive bookcase with a few minor issues. For your consideration, this Fabulous Large Walnut Victorian Renaissance Revival Breakfront Bookcase with Cabinet Base and Carved Crown(Circa: 1870) This lovely and most unusual Victorian Bookcase has an approximate total weight of 190 pounds and measures 100 ¼” in total height, 63” in width, and 16 ½” in depth. A total of three adjustable, removable shelves are found in this phenomenal Bookcase. The dimensions of the three adjustable shelves are 10” in depth by 50 ¼” Please note that this piece will break down into three pieces for transport(top, bottom, crown) Elegant details found on this Fabulous Large Walnut Victorian Renaissance Revival Breakfront Bookcase with Cabinet Base and Carved Crown(Circa: 1870) The lovely top is graced with crown moulding along with a beautiful ... moreremovable spade scrolled center crown. This beautiful spade scrolled center crown is adorned with incised carvings. A large carved rosette roundel in the center that is flanked on each side with raised burl panel accents and smaller rosette roundels. Lovely raised triangular-shaped panels and small rosette roundels adorn the top area above the geometric shaped glass doors. You will note that there are four individual panes of glass that make-up these two doors and there is a small crack in the left top corner of the lower right pane. We chose not to replace this pane because the glass is original to the piece and it does not impact the structural integrity or the beauty- it simply adds character. The two lower panes are original whereas the two upper panes may have been replaced at some point in time. Each of the lovely bookcase doors are adorned with picture-frame moulding. The right door has an intact lock with a fancy brass key escutcheon. A decorative(non-working) key in included to assist in opening the doors. In good condition dating from around the 1890-1910 period. Please be aware that the top middle door was locked at the time of photography, so we couldn't put the shelves in that part. Consequently it doesn't look as good as it should. This bookcase has many wonderful features& I will try to list a few. I suppose it's Chippendale in style. The top cornice has a very detailed Greek key moulding. The three doors have fine astral-glazing& adjustable ... moreshelves inside. The bottom section has two flame mahogany drawers& two cupboards with flame mahogany panels that have some intricate carvings on the corners. The top of the base section has a carved edge& the drawers have original brass handles. This all sits on very bold legs with more good carvings plus ball& claw feet. One more thing I just noticed, is that it has the old metal'Maple& Co' label inside one of the doors, which is always a sign of quality, because the old Maples store only sold items of top quality.
