Solid Mahogany inlaid triple bookcase Curvd glass c1900
Here is a wonderful solid mahogany bookcase with mother of pearl inlay along with satin wood. It is a triple bookcase with the two outer sections having flat panel glass and the center of attention focusing on the middle curved section. This section also has an incredible inlay in the bottom locking door and a beautiful claw foot. The back fancy board is still intact which adds so much to this case. It dates to the late 1890-1910 era and has its original finish which is outstanding. A good cleaning is all this beauty needs. I also have the original key attached to a silk gold material. All glass is original wavy glass which shows its true age. Again this is solid mahogany not a veneer. Inner shelves are adjustable. The bookcase measures 69 inches tall by 60 inches wide and is 16 inches deep at the curved glass and 14 at the ends. Here is a fine very late 19th century mostly solid walnut and very tall at 8 and 1/2 feet bookcase. I love the simple architectural features of the carved arches over each glass door which combines the look of solid walnut and It would be fantastic in a library setting or even as a display cabinet as working locksets are being replaced as I write this so both doors will easily lock. It is perfect for the room a the top of a narrow stairwell as it dismantles and sets up very easily. The base with the two drawers is the first level to set up. This base section retains the original porcelain castors. Each of the side panels is screwed to a rear panel. It is easiest to handle these steps like this. Add one side and then the other. Then the center piece for the shelves slips in. Add the shelves and the front center piece to Which each of the doors ... morewill lock. Add the crown and then it is time to hang the doors. The left door top hinge has been moved to a lower point on the door at some point. This is shown close up in the photos. The"silver" pieces which show up on the doors and on the center section have been removed and appropriate lock sets are being installed with working keys. This ca.1860 solid cherry carved bookcase was custom built for Daniel A. Kenney in Boston. MA. Mr. Kenney worked on the ironclad ship, the"USS Monitor" The"Battle of Hampton Roads" between the USS Monitor and the CSS Virginia, was the first engagement between ironclad vessels during the war for Southern Independence. There is a descriptive historical plaque of ownership inside on the right. The bookcase measures 65" tall with gallery, 19" deep by 51" wide. Notice the Jenny Lind dovetailing on the drawers. The arched glass in the doors is beveled. The intricate carving is flawless. The right door squeaks when opened. There are 2 one inch long discolortions and a third one that is 1/4" long on the right side without indentations. They just appear as thin dark lines. This fine 19th century bookcase features incredible carvings and details and has its original old wavy glass. Original square beveled mirrors and all the brass hardware also appears original as well as the rich finish. This bookcase has a wonderful brass and mahogany gallery on the top with incredible detailed carved leaves above the door on the left with a gold gilded panel of fretwork below and the original square beveled mirrors, pierced carvings and a display shelves above the door on the right with a original beveled glass door side cabinet with a small storage drawer below. The tasseled key works the locks on ... moreboth doors and inside the cabinet are four adjustable shelves on the left side and three on the right. At the base additional storage is offered with the two storage drawers below each having the original Lion face brass pulls and period dove-tailed ends on the drawers. The locks are intact on the drawers and there is a key but the locks seem stuck. This splendid bookcase is solid and tight and an excellent example of the Aesthetic Victorian era of design and is definitely a statement making piece. This bookcase is in wonderful antique condition with no issues we can find, there is however an old repair to the top left side that appears secure and not an issue, see close-up in the last picture. Hi. This is a stunning old piece of furniture dating back to mid 19th century. As you can see it's been hand carved with lovely features all around it. It is made from oak so is very solid and heavy but comes in two so it's not to bad to move around. There's is signs of wear around this item as to be expected with age. Also as you can see on my photos there is one of the feet missing but still sits level. Could easily be replaced if need be. This antique Empire library cabinet/ bookcase would make a beautiful addition to your home or office! It has been dated as early as 1880 to as late as 1910. It's roomy interior has eight shelves that can be used to hold your favorite books or collectibles. There are 6 adjustable shelves and the bottom shelves. It is made of solid ribbon mahogany. The cabinet has it's original wooden back(with some restoration) and original wavy glass in the doors. The cabinet has a key. But it is recommended that it isn't used to lock the cabinet doors regularly as they are a bit tight to lock. This stunning piece has been restored and refinished with a hand rubbed wax finish leaving the wonderful patina and gorgeous original wood tones. I can provide additional pictures if needed. The key provided works the center and left door locks but the lock on the right door appears stuck.
